2.5 hours felt like 4
24 May 2024
If you're expecting a non-stop, fast paced, high octane movie like Fury Road you'll be sadly disappointed with this outing. The first half is slow. Not to say there aren't interesting points but it could have been tightened up instead of dragged out.

The last hour is action packed. Not great but also not terrible.

There's a lot of call backs to Fury Road, almost as if they were going for a nostalgic vibe but that movie is not even 10 years ago yet.

If you didn't know beforehand that Chris Hemsworth was in the movie you wouldn't know it was even him. He's rocking prosthetic nose and teeth and speaks in a high pitched nasal voice.

Meh. Not really all that funny
26 August 2023
The fact that this movie did so well proves how bad this summer is for movies. I don't see what the big deal is, it felt like a mixed bag of boredom with some entertainment. There's a few laughs, few and far between that is.

If you're interested in seeing this film I can't recommend paying your hard earned money that's required to see it in the theatres. Not to mention if you want popcorn and snacks. I recommend Wait until it's on a streaming service you already have or at your local library where you can get it for free. But like so much nonsense out there, this is not worth It.

One side note it was a pleasure to see Rhea Perlman again. She's always delightful.

Predictable.

I love mysteries because they are stories that require you to think but hardly anyone does them anymore. So am grateful when someone does. I first saw this film when it was given a limited theatrical release in November 2022 I took some time to gather my thoughts about it. But my opinion hasn't changed. It was so blatantly obvious to me that I was so hoping it was just a red herring. But alas it was not. Only one part of the story pleasantly surprised me. But the rest I saw coming.

As I said I love mysteries and hardly anyone makes them anymore. So I'm glad someone did. I just wish there had been more intelligence in the writing.

American Experience: The Great War: Part 3 (2017)
Season 29, Episode 10
10/10
The beginning of more than a century of war.
9 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I appreciated this. I've seen so much on the First World War that often it just a repeat of what others have reported on. So I liked that they were able to bring something new. The fact that the US was only in the war for the last year and a large amount of that time they were being trained because of their little to no military experience. So to put together 6 hours is impressive. Now that being said they did retread material spoken of by previous documentaries but that is understandable. But they also go into how the great influenza(Spanish Flu) was ravaging the world in the war's last year. Most documentaries never even mention the flu. It also brought up the epidemic of race riots that engulfed the United States following the wars end. Most don't know anything about this. That the year after the war, 1919 became known as Red Summer in the US, because of all the blood spilt in the lynchings & race riots that plagued the country.

WW1 is the event that changed everything. The wars and the political scene since the First World War is a fallout that was shaped that war that tore the world apart and broke it to pieces and people have been trying to pick up those pieces ever since.

Star Wars is dead please just let it Rest In Peace.
3 June 2022
There is no reason for this story, this miniseries to exist. This is an absolute pointless story. It contradicts the meeting and better story between Obi-wan Kenobi and Vader in the original Star Wars.

A mute woman wants to have sex with a fish. There,...the end
10 January 2022
Of all the movies that have won the Oscar for best picture in the 21st century, this is the one that I hate. What a waste of talent of an actress I like. I loved her in Maudie, but hate this garbage and I wish I had not wasted my time on possibly one of the worst films of all time. The year the Academy chose this film as best pitcher they were obviously out of their minds. They should have laid off the crystal meth.

Weakest in the trilogy.
1 January 2022
I didn't care to much for this one. I found it weak bland and boring. The script could have used some of that super fuel they use on the steam engine in this film because the story certainly ran out of steam. It does have its charm, but in comparison with the first two after all these years for me it still can't hold a candle them.

Honest short review.
18 December 2021
I'm not a big superhero fan so the film starts slow, the first hour and a bit drags. All I knew going in was it had something to do with the multiverse and the previous doc ock from the 2000's was in it.

It's Heavy on nostalgia so if you are a sucker for superheroes and namely Spider-Man, you might get sucked in. Superhero/Spider-Man fans in the audience were talking that they felt the ending was painful. I'm not sure what they meant, maybe it was a criticism or something emotional, but for me it was just an ending. It's a good movie, not a great one. You may fine the first half slow, but it does pick up.

It as it's charm.
30 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I love the original NOTLD, it's one of my all time favourites. This film essentially uses the same script as the original. With a few little tidbits added in such as when Ben is telling the story of being at a diner when he found out what was happening. This film shows that scene in flashback as he's telling the story.

It would have been cool if they had put an interesting twist at the end or something like that. But that I guess would have served a different purpose than what this film was trying to accomplish.

Should have been the series finale.
17 October 2021
This 3 part episode would have worked much better as the final episode. Al & Peg call it's quits and go their separate ways. But after all the years of misery their love and devotion for each other is stronger than most and ultimately they can't stay apart from one another.

This would have been the perfect conclusion to the series. Now when I rewatch this series I save these 3 episodes for the end as a 3 part finale.

A bad movie
15 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I so wanted to like this movie, but it just didn't happen for me. I can not recommend this film. Essentially It's a horror movie that's not scary or very suspenseful. The story does have its moments but unfortunately it sucks more often than not.

The stuff set in 1978 is for the most part pretty good, probably the best part about the movie. The acting is such that at times you can tell that the actors are trying their best but the sincerity is just not there, they obviously do not believe in the garbage written in the script.

The ending is absolutely ridiculous, several of the townspeople gather around Michael Myers and go all out, attacking, shooting, stabbing and beating him down. Then he jumps up and kills them all... so stupid. They turned Myers into nothing more than one of the 80's rip offs of Halloween, and that being Jason Voorhees.

In the 2018 film I liked that they tried to keep it a bit more grounded in reality. My only issue with that film was the stupid storyline that Michael's psychiatrist was the villain because of his obsession with trying to get him to speak. When I read the book Taking Shape it brought out that the psychiatrist scene was pretty much universally despised. I'm mentioning this because the ending for this film is that bad.

And they bring back characters from the original just to throw them into the meat grinder of a High body count but a pointless story.

That being said this is no where's as bad as Rob Zombie's Halloween 2, a painfully horrible movie to sit through and that movie nearly killed the franchise. I fear that if the next film sucks worst than Halloween Kills, than a franchise ender it might be and earning its name Halloween Ends.

Halloween Kills a franchise.

Halloween Ends a franchise.

Bad decisions. This episode the door as closed the door.
6 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I remember when I nearly stopped watching this show because I didn't care for any of the characters. Then season 4 was such a breath of fresh air when they introduced some new blood including my favourite character. Now bad writing decisions they've chosen to kill him off in a weak, senseless, pointless way. The bad acting from the girl in that scene who played the character that try's to justify killing him was so unbelievable, it certainly does not help in selling this bad decision. This door is closed for me, this show deserves to be canceled now. It'll be all down hill for me.

Quicksilver Highway (1997 TV Movie)

Guilty pleasure
7 June 2021
I've always loved horror anthologies, so it was a pleasant surprise to discover that this was an anthology when I first saw this movie when I rented it at the video store about 20 years ago (when there still were video stores). I had rented it along with another horror anthology called Campfire Tales(1998), which was another pleasant surprise.

Because I had rented both films it had made Quicksilver Highway a bit more fun to watch with the addition of a scene in one of the stories where a husband mentions a creepy yarn to his new wife about 2 lovers that are attacked by something while they are all alone and in their vehicle one night, the man manages to run for help. Then in the morning the woman awakens to the sound of scrapping on the vehicles roof. It's discovered that the scrapping is caused by the knuckles of her dead lovers body that's hung upside down from a tree above. The reason why I say the mentioning of that tale made it a little more fun was because that happens in one of the segments of Campfire Tales.

Both are worth the watch.

Not a worthy follow up to Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead
22 May 2021
This is not a sequel to 2004's awesome flick Dawn Of The Dead. Awesome this is not. I wasn't hyped to see this, but I was looking forward to it. Am I disappointed? Yes. This 2 and a half hour big budget mess that felt like it was rushed into and then out of production. My stars because the acting is ok and I felt generous.

A very important film
6 December 2019
I was discussing with family and friends not that long ago of the huge increase of cancers in the past few decades. There was a time that we rarely ever heard of it. Now it seems rampant. Then when a movie like this comes out about a greedy corporation that had been knowingly poisoning and killing people for decades it sheds some light on claims lately often hear of things like chemicals and even stuff in our foods being greatly responsible. Of course these companies care only about profit and so they put out their smoke screen. Then lo and behold this film comes out. It is about a corporate lawyer that is asked to look into a matter dealing with one chemical company. I won't give anything away just to say it's a must see. I also love the ending.

Halloween
19 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
A bit more than just a run of the mill slasher. In a world where I am sick of remakes, reboots, reimagines, sequels and prequels. This film starts off with promise but weakens and looses potential to become something great when it cheapens out to fall apart and become idiotic in the last third as the veteran psychiatrist turns out to be a nut who wants to murder someone. That one scene and him wearing the Myer's mask was so stupid, like it belonged from a lesser film. It was enough to pull me out of the experience.

I enjoyed the first half but then lost it's charm for me half way through. It went for cool to just silly. I think I might be sick of comic book movies.

It had moments but is a weak entry in the Jurassic park series.
22 June 2018
The Jurassic park films are a guilty pleasure for me. I don't go to see them for their lack of story but for their visual effects dinosaur action. The film didn't have much in the visual action area. The story was trying to be different I get that, but in a franchise that exists because of its lack of story and strength of visual action it didn't really work for me. The movie had moments but ultimately it's boring

Awesome
30 April 2018
One of my all time favourite documentary tv shows. The show much like National Geographics Aftermath Population Zero was inspired by the book The World Without Us by Alan Weisman. But to bad that this series only ran for 2 seasons. I Love seeing how nature could make a comeback in a big way if humans just somehow stop the destruction. But just as in Aftermath and The World Without Us, In this show it is if humans all disappeared for some unknown reason. Love how they back up their beliefs with evidence.

Superhero's have overstayed their welcome
27 April 2018
Maybe I'm just sick of superhero movies. But I found myself bored and so sick of the mindless violence in this film that really just lacks a good strong story at its core. Superhero movies have overstayed their welcome for me. This is the last one I'll go to see I'm done.

Awesome style western
10 April 2018
John Carpenter who wrote and executive produced this film had often said that he was a big fan of westerns. He must have jumped at the opportunity to make this film and another western the following year, titled Blood River. True to form this is a Western in the truest sense with some fine adjustments.

This is the best SIFI Horror Film that I've seen in ages. Genuine suspense. The only problem is that it was 90 minutes. But in that 90 minutes it Succeeds where other SIFI horror films have not.

Not meant to be taken seriously
8 October 2017
If your looking for a legitimate thrill you'll be sadly disappointed. This film is only for those looking for a cheap thrill. A group of college friends head out to the water for the weekend. But soon discover that they've been invited to dinner. Lots of negative reviews from those who seemed to have taken it to seriously. Just a cheap popcorn guilty pleasure.

JJ Abrams, don't ever touch Star Wars ever again!
18 December 2015
Warning Spoilers!

I'm not happy with the th this film that lacks heart, it lacks heart cause it bleeding from all its plot holes, due to a weak script. The acting and dialogue are much better than the prequels. The less use of cgi and increased use of practical effects are a welcomed return to visual form. BUT!!! A rushed script in order to make money, a train wreak. I'm so angry at Disney, Abrams & Kasden right now. For instance Mark Hamill is given top billing in the credits next to Harrison Ford, but Mark Hamill is not even in the movie until the last few seconds of the film and he doesn't even have any dialogue. What's up with that, that so is utterly misleading. Why?! They have him listed as one of the films main stars. But he never shares any screen time with Han & Leia. This film was to be like a reunion, but it wasn't. After all these years would you put these 3 beloved characters in a film together one last time, but not actually bring them all together. The film is filled with a rehash of old ideas from the original trilogy. Another Death Star also, but with their lack of imagination they try to make it OK by saying it's not a Death Star, this one is called Starkiller and its bigger. PLEASEE!! Give me a break! I can go on & on with the problems in the films story. But at least Abrams spent time with his actors, he did get good performances out of them. But they should have spent a lot more time on the script, because it really does stink like a backed up toilet. Someone give the writers some bathroom tissue, they obviously had a bad case of Diarrhea when writing this complete offence to good story telling that the original trilogy had. Once again GOOD JOB, Disney, Abrams, Kathleen Kennedy & Lawrence Kasden for dashing hopes that Star Wars could be redeemed. George Lucas dug the graves with the prequels and now these idiots are lowering the coffin. I'm so angry at Disney right now.
