On my top 10 of best movies ever made.
27 December 2011
What can i say? Brilliant movie. The atmosphere is perfect. Actros are perfect. Music score is perfect. The scenario is perfect (there is a comics of course that the movie is based on, so credits go to the original author). The morals, the messages, the metaphors, the poetry that happens in front of your eyes, everything in perfection and perfect harmony. like music, makes the movie... yes you guessed right, PERFECT.

I watched this movie seven times since now. I haven't found even a slight mistake and also i can watch it nine more times without get me bored. I recommend it with no second thought.

One of the greatest 80s movies.
27 December 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Since even the slightest info on a movie might undermine the experience of the first time (trailers tend to do this sadly) i flagged this comment as spoiler. There is no danger of ruining the movie if you read my review, but if you haven't seen it yet, some small and very little details i refer to, might make your experience not as good as watching something you have no idea about.

The 80s have a lot of different movies to brag about, as a decade. This movie, Electric Dreams, is one of the greatest of them, for many reasons.

First of all, the characters. There is the girl next door, there is the protagonist, who is a simple guy (that everyone can say that is a better man than he is), nice looking idiot, and a unique character who is born step by step. A computer Artificial Intelligence. If you don't mind a little...crappy scenario on how AI was created (its fun and funny after all and that's the point, its somehow a comedy), you will love the movie.

Secondly there is the setting. Characters have good background to support the movie, It gives nice morals on love and friendship, touches you deeply and any computer geek like me will just love it.

Finally there is another thing that makes this movie different than the other 80s movies. During 80s lots of movies follow the feel-good philosophy with a somehow happy end. The feel good philosophy though, makes those American movies so cheesy that they defy description, from the beginning to the end. This does not apply here and that's a good thing. This feel good feeling takes place in the end and its cheesy of course, a VERY GOOD decision that leaves you with the good feelings after... nah, i said enough...

Black Swan (2010)
9/10
Darren never disappointed me.
26 March 2011
This movie was another jewel in Darren's bright career. The movie was so strong i almost cried. it was a perfect movie. The movie starts strangely, it reminds me strongly his past movies that were also awesome. Its not his best movie, how could i say such a thing, after all "pi" is the best movie i have ever seen in my opinion. Its a great film, with great actors and actresses, Natalie Portman was once again incredible, Swan Lake is my favorite classical music creation and there are things that makes me feel the movie wasn't EXACTLY what you were watching. It was a little deeper and i was aware of it because i have seen almost all of Darren's movies. The movie is just perfect. It's exactly my cup of tea. I might not know lots about ballet or dancing, dam i can barely walk, but my emotions were overwhelming me.

Pi (1998)
10/10
Its 2011 and its still my favorite movie.
26 March 2011
One year before the Matrix, this movie was released. The Matrix became my favorite movie. I hadn't seen "pi" though, since 2000. My best friend recommended it to me, since i have too complex way of thinking and i love this kind of stuff. When i watched this film it almost instantly became my new favorite movie! 11 years passed since then. I still say the same thing. "Pi" is my favorite movie. I cant describe you how i appreciate it. Music score is perfect and fits the atmosphere perfectly. The decision to make it black and white, like a piece of paper, was also perfect for keeping us into that weird and excellent atmosphere. Yes i give it a 10/10 because it is somehow a movie that has to give you a lot of things.

My point of view.
26 March 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Robert quit a career in music and left his home to live as a simple worker, a simple life.

The movie starts with everyday's life, and ordinary hard working people's problems. Robert was compromised to be with a good girl that wasn't filling any void inside of him though. It wasn't her fault since Rayette was a lovely character, not so bright or educated but kind hearted, in contrast with Robert who had serious issues.

When things went wrong with his friend, he also learned about his dad being seriously ill. He tried to hold back his girlfriend from following him, and that's the first key point of the movie. She came along with him and during the trip they gave a lift to two weird women.

The second key point was the words of one of the women, about dirt and filth. If you will forget those words, you might get disappointed by the ending of the movie. If you keep that in mind, everything goes normally.

For a second time he avoids taking Rayette with him. Maybe because he knew that the root of all of his problems was lying there. Seems like Robert disrespects women, but he honestly knows who is wrong and who isn't. Its his fault. He finally arrives at the house. He sees his father, the father, after two strokes is almost 100% numb, unable to speak. He can only move some muscles on his face and not always. Robert's reaction, when he saw his father assured me about lots of things.

He was in a house, extremely disciplined, obsessed with music. It was the boring prison of his pressing and submissive father, his father made him lose the music inside him, because music shouldn't become a jail of discipline and high hopes of somebody else. We can also see that, when Robert speaks about anything but classical music and his brother tries to "protect" his wife from this "bad" affection. And it was the only enjoyable moment in the house. His brother was full of sarcasm, like Robert was the black sheep of the family. His brother's wife also asked him how he was bored when he was a child. She was doing lots of things and she was there for about two months. When he answered that he was doing nothing (because of his submissive dad) it was a revelation about what Robert was.

He made sex with his brother's wife, in order to set her free, he liked her. She was filling the void, but she didn't wanted him, because she could see through. He had no love, as she said, for anyone or anything. He had no music inside him.

While leaving with Rayette to head back to their ordinary life, which he hated because it was also a bad routine for him, he stopped at a gas station, went to restrooms, and took a look at himself. Before that Rayette was singing, trying to cheer him up. He had no music inside him. He treated her badly once again.

He realised what was the problem. What he was hating most could be himself, for making things wrong wherever he was going. He left her and everything else to start a new life or maybe to isolate himself. He realised that he was keeping his father inside him for so many years, that he was mentally damaged. A very well directed film, an interesting drama. The movie was incredible i guess since it was released at 1970. Well directed, nice actors and if you have ever freely played an instrument, the movie can touch you deeper.

Donnie Darko (2001)
9/10
An odd yet brilliant movie!
2 February 2011
Donnie Darko... When i watched that film i didn't expected much. Never heard of it before, never looked for more information. I just wanted to watch a movie, while i was spending my afternoon indoors.

The film started and i said, "Dam, that might be an interesting movie and after it finished i decided i can not classify it under a specific type. So yes it was indeed interesting. But let's continue.

I watched it, the plot had a nice flow, i really liked it, it had very interesting characters, the actors matched the personalities, the film was directed very nicely and the story has something to say to everyone.

When it finished, i was staring like an idiot, trying to understand what i had just saw. After a while, my jaw hitted the floor. I wont tell you anything about the story or what i did understood. I hate spoilers.

Just one thing. Richard Kelly is a genius in my opinion! So yes, 9/10 i really enjoyed the film and it made me a better man.

Saw (2004)
7/10
The first, the best!
2 February 2011
Okay, i have seen a lot of horror films. Saw was another one that i liked much. Saw 2,3,4...and so on were movies i disliked. The splatter was increasing for no apparent reason, the atmosphere and the whole set up and the feeling, that made the first a success, were all missing from the rest.

So here we are. I review the first one that is the best in my opinion. I liked it. A friend of mine, a co-student at College, told me to watch the movie together. She couldn't remember how many times she had seen it. It was her favorite so she wanted to share it with me.

I liked the flow of the movie. And then the movie ended. And i found my jaw fallen on the floor. Incredible movie. No i wont spoil you anything!!! Go and watch it!

Warning though, it has extreme violence. I was about to eat something, while i was watching Saw. I reconsidered. I paused... i ate... then i watched the film.

Incredibly PERFECT!
31 January 2011
I never thought i would put a pure 10 without hesitation to a new released movie. But yes, this one deserves it. I won't say anything about any scene or the plot. I will talk generally for this movie. Why? Because its an experience and if i talk i will spoil it. Stop reading reviews and go watch it. I started watching it, like "what the hell" and ended up with a permanent smile that i can't wipe out even after 3 days. This is one of the worst periods of my life people. I have broken up with my girlfriend, i am too stressed with my College, i am looking for a job and let's say that this is not the best time i had in my life. This movie gave me back the smile i lost, when nothing else could!

This movie is one of the best i have ever seen, because it touches you deeply. It is exceptional. It is fresh. It is genuine. It is mostly fun! It is for everyone. I can't think of a movie that i would enjoy more to watch at a cinema or at my living room, with friends. This was a revelation and i wanna share my opinion with the world.

By the way, i can see some people judge in a way they show me that they MISS THE POINT! A few examples:

"...forgets about keeping it real" Oh, really? So in your opinion a movie MUST look like reality or what? Or 4/10? Can you really believe that people? Why then watch a movie? Watch reality from a balcony.

"...childish..no message that its trying to convey." Aims also and mostly at adult audiences. Period. And i strongly disagree, it has plenty of messages.

"All flash, no substance." Excuse me???? I strongly disagree. Did you actually saw the movie or did you people copy - paste something you just read about it?

"leaving his character seeming unlovable and unrelatable." Another 2/10 that shows me that even he was sleeping before the movie ended, or he doesn't... oh forget about it....

Some guys (as i read at another review) even complained for making the audience laugh too much? REALLY? Isn't that a success for a comedy then? You got the picture people! The movie is EPIC! Stop reading reviews. Once again i recommend you, if you haven't seen it, you must!

An excellent film!
31 January 2011
This movie is one of the best movies ever made. I remember when i was watching it. I was feeling during the movie every emotion that you can imagine. The cast, well you know the cast... they play their roles with outstanding performance. The movie has some moments of awesomeness. Its great. Its perfect. Scenes, photography, scenario, plot, things that keeps your attention with intensity (and its not an action film), it has everything. I recommend it without hesitation. An excellent masterpiece that surely will be remembered as one of the greatest films ever. If you haven't watched this one yet, do it. Stop reading this review and go watch that movie!

The Matrix (1999)
10/10
Excellent!
31 January 2011
One of my favorite films. I remember back in 1999, i was fed up with sci-fi super hero movies. I disliked them. Then a friend told me "You MUST watch the Matrix", it isn't just a sci-fi movie, its something more! I was negative about it. He convinced me to watch it with him. And i was so bored in the beginning... OK a nicely directed action movie... and after a while, it started to reveal me what i am about to see. I have watched this movie since then, more than 58 times. I am not joking. I really loved it. Do i want to watch this movie again? No. After 58 times, i can say that i am satisfied. It's not a flawless film. But it is a perfect masterpiece with lots of hidden messages. Surely 10/10.

An epic Cult movie!
20 January 2011
Okay, here is the deal. Some movies are not made for everyone. If you are looking for a good movie, you are at the wrong direction.

But don't get me wrong. If you like B-Movies, you will love Nude nuns with big guns. Period! I really enjoyed it, the producers knew what they were doing, i had.... mixed feelings during the movie, you'll understand what i mean if you watch it.

The plot is simple. A Nun becomes the Wrath of God. She becomes a punisher that shows no mercy. How it happens, what happens and the rest of the details will spoil your experience, so i wont write more.

I rate 7/10 because it is a great B movie!

WARNING. If you seek for a quality, not offending, non extreme, nor violent movie, AVOID this one.

For the rest of the people that enjoy this type of movies... have fun!
