After enduring this for 2 hours.....and noticing 40 minutes left, I was left numb at the contemplation that I had still had a fair way to go before it was finished. I was so tempted to just turn it off. The voice overs were pretentious and left me thinking that the writers must think we are idiots to believe that all this poetic nonsense is what was going through the minds of these young men in the perils of war. Garbage, utter rubbish...if people think they are intelligent by rating this movie as a 10, I think the entire opposite. This is not high up on any rating board, to put it in the same league as movies like Shawshank is criminal. Get real people and give fair reviews. If you manage to read this review before you watch the movie....just be warned it is 10% action, 10% dialogue, 40% poetic voice over, 40% dull and boring, maybe more. My wife fell asleep twice! If you can cope with that, then watch the film. If not then go and re-watch something like Band of Brothers!

10 out of 10 .....seriously? I get fed up of over the top reviews that water down real classics and big up 2nd rate movies. I mean is this really as good as Toy Story? Not even sure it was as good as 'Inside Out'. Please think about this when rating movies. A score of 10 should be reserved for something special....and this wasn't it. It was just okay. Not convinced it had enough appeal to younger children either, my granddaughter definitely got bored.

Firstly, I don't believe people should give such high reviews when they haven't seen the full series. Secondly, I wish people would give realistic reviews....so many 10 out of 10s, wow, is this really the best show some people have seen, even without the ending there are so many better out there. As for the series, it is slow to start off and the jumping from past to present is a little confusing. The acting is reasonable, but the story is just one dimensional and pretends to be more than it is. I kept watching expecting a twist or something less predictable for a finish, but this didn't happen! Very flat, perhaps worth watching for some, but not for me!

I am amazed.....quite frankly astonished by the amount of people that are giving this show a rating of 10 and stating best show ever. Luther just blatantly flaunts the law to try and catch the bad guy. Decision after decision in this show is just implausible and stupid. Please watch it and see for yourself. You will fall into one of 3 categories: 1. Love the show because you lack the intelligence to spot just how unrealistic and silly it is. 2. Keep watching because it looks like it should be promising and could be better....but sadly it doesn't. 3. Quickly realise how stupid it is and if you are lucky stop watching the show. I wanted to put a list of all the idiotic things in the show.....but felt it would take me too long and essentially I'd be just re-writing the script.

I don't write many reviews and would usually reserve a score of 10 out of 10 for something really special. Maybe this show is not deserving of that score, but for me, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and perhaps I am making a point that Star Trek should return to this and away from the ridiculous Discovery that was recently released. Obviously it is a comedy, so far more humour than a traditional Star Trek episode, but it truly reminded me of the good old days. I hope this show continues to run and grow in its fan base....it deserves it. The characters are excellent, overly confident captain, ex-wife first officer, Synthetic Life form Science Officer, Klingon type crew member, great helmsmen that seem to compliment each other.....and a slime guy. It is well written and funny in the right places. I can't recommend it any higher!!!

Before I write a review I like to browse through the other comments posted first. To surmise, many have got it quite right, this is not the best Star Trek movie, but it is a good one. The story is reasonable, although there are plenty of plot holes that you have to overlook and not delve into them too deeply. I also think that the size of that deep space station is just OTT even for that century, it is far too advanced! Anyway, get over the minor flaws and you will begin to notice that they are starting to focus more on character development and interaction of the personalities within the crew. It is what real fans enjoy the most, including the odd bit of humour.

As for the highly negative reviews on here, please start to put your rankings in perspective, this is by no means a shocking movie and definitely is fit to join the Star Trek Universe. It really winds me up when people rank this movie in the same breath as some of the real shockers we have seen in the last few years!

I will give this show a second chance, but only because I usually like science fiction, fantasy, strange happenings kind of shows. However, the previous reviewers comparisons with Lost are far from accurate. Lost was a very clever show that offered good character development with a lot of intrigue and mystic without even trying (the acting was pretty good too). This show seems to be deliberately avoiding obvious questions about what is actually happening and has thrown together an implausible set of characters in an equally implausible set of circumstances. To make matters worse they stay together even though none of them knows what is going on. ...and really does the Irish guy have to swear every other word!!

By all means give this show a try for a laugh, maybe it will get better, but be warned. It is treading on thin ice and needs to improve or be canned!

In some ways better than the first movie, in some ways worse. Altogether this is quite a satisfying remake, which keeps fairly close to the plot of the original, but with a few acceptable changes.

This is Robocop and still quite a violent film, but to be honest I felt that the violence was toned down in comparison, which I was pleased about since it can stand up without it.

If you take younger members, the bit where you see what is left of Murphy outside of his suit can be quite disturbing, so I would advise not taking the more squeamish.

If people are genuinely marking this done just because it is a remake, they are being ridiculous. I enjoyed the original movie, but it was in no means perfect and this is an reasonable remake and worth a watch.

Let's be clear from the beginning... ...this is not a movie!

Thankfully, I avoided this at the cinema, however I sadly purchased the DVD based on the 'Brilliant' exclamations on the box and also the high profile actors taking part. I feel cheated, as I am certain many others would have. Please please please indicate on the box that this is not a movie, or certainly not a movie as 99% of the population would be expecting. As for the other 1%, enjoy your experience and feel lucky that people like me were robbed to subsidise it.

My viewing for the evening consisted of watching the first 15 minutes in a slight lost daze trying to understand what was going on. Then my wife suggested to fast forward to see if it was likely to get better. I was amazed that at 10x speed things still seemed slow and included a planet earth style section....weird. We turned it off 5 minutes later.

In conclusion, not for me and should have warnings not endorsements on the box.

An interesting start all too quickly becomes a contrived love triangle, to the point it becomes cringe worthy.

This movie deserves me to spend as much time writing this review as they did writing the screenplay and I would love a discussion with anyone who actually gave this a good review, because quite frankly they must have watched a different movie.

This type of movie has been done before, it had promise, but in my opinion failed miserably. Do your best to avoid it!

...because sadly, there are still worse movies out there.
