Step Up 3D (2010)
2/10
Cliché for the sake of being cliché
8 February 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I honestly believe there was no effort put into the story at all. Every single cliché the writers could possibly think up was in this, the rivalry the betrayal, the break up only to make up later and end up together, the wise friend who seems to know everything but is a background character through most of the film even the closing of the studio which required money to re open does landing the crew in a final dance off against their rivals. The only thing I enjoyed from this movie was the dancing, all the fancy moves, and the culture impressed me, but aside from that this movie was garbage. I compare this to"You Got Served" which received a much lower score on IMDb than this, though it shared an extremely similar story, though it portrayed a lot more emotion, and overall focused more on the characters than the dancing. All in all, if you're a dance movie fan, who really doesn't care for story, by all means check this out, if you're a movie lover, then this movie probably won't make you smile so skip it.

The Fighter (I) (2010)
10/10
Best fighting movie, period.
9 January 2011
I've always been a fan of fighting movies, especially the Rocky Series, but this has to be the best fighting movie I've ever seen. I was impressed by Mark Wahlberg's performance, but Christian Bale put on one of the best performances I've seen in a long time. The Story was very real, and cliché free. I remember wishing I could walk back into the theater and watch the whole thing over again. Everything about this movie is perfect, including the fight scenes. The emotions portrayed by the characters made me feel like if I were watching real people through a giant window, and the direction was truly amazing. I give this movie a ten out of ten because I can't give it more, but it definitely deserves an Oscar Nomination for best picture, and for Best Supporting Actor Christian Bale.

Not perfect, but not bad
7 December 2010
I was sixteen when I first saw this film, and though that was a little less than 3 years ago, I was a lot more easily impressed and loved this film immensely. Since then i have watched this movie many times over. The reason I didn't give it a ten is because I take into account the many clichés it contains, and the cheesy dialog. The acting is fairly decent and the fight scenes were believable (mostly). While it doesn't leave a strong message, it proves to me that a movie doesn't need to be a masterpiece to be good. Movies are made to entertain, and this one does just that. Yes it shares the exact same story as the Karate Kid, but once your brain is turned off it's hard to get bored of this movie. Compared to most mma films this one is worth watching. Like I mentioned before, the acting is decent, unlike Beatdown, and there isn't a montage of pointless sex scenes like Never Surrender. Overall the movie is entertaining and anyone looking to kill sometime should check it out.
