why???
14 April 2012
What on Earth happened here? The first two movies were great! I don't understand how is it possible that they could be turned into something this awful. The idea of making it into more of a comedy didn't help at all. Characters looked stupid and storyline was ridiculous and boring. After about 30 minutes I kept looking at my watch, but I kept going because I wanted to see the ending. What a disappointment! I'm really mad with the final result. Let's hope the 4th installment won't be so crappy.

I did enjoy the acting, though, because Daniel Martin (the actor playing Koldo) is one of my favorites from Spain, and the woman playing the lead role did a good job too, but the characters were lacking so much insight that at the end, talent wasn't enough.

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, unless you're a big fan of the first two and want to see everything related to it!

What's with the hate???
24 January 2012
When I first saw the trailer for this film, I was immediately interested and knew I would like it. I read a lot of bad reviews about it and my expectations went down a little bit but not completely. I saw it last night and was not at all disappointed. It was way better than a lot of exorcism movies I've seen and I can't understand why is it that so many people hate it! If you're waiting for the next The Exorcist, you'll be disappointed. Nothing can compare to that. But this is not a bad movie in itself. I didn't find it boring, didn't care about the shaky camera and wasn't bothered by the ending. I did enjoy this film! It was different without being exaggerated or ridiculous. Don't listen to other people, go see for yourself and then you can judge!

The Baby's Room (2006 TV Movie)

pretty satisfying

I'm a huge fan of horror. I've seen the classics (The Exorcist, Rosemary's Baby, The Shining, etc.) and I've seen the not-so-good offerings of today's cinema (The Haunting, Paranormal Activity, etc.). I wanted a change and I decided to look away from Hollywood for a time. I'm so glad I did! After discovering Rec, I decided to try other Spanish movies. I was hooked immediately with what I found.

One of my favorites out of all the Spanish movies is this one. The Baby's Room is everything a horror movie should be: creepy, intense, not too gimmicky. The tension builds slowly, but steadily. I found myself getting closer and closer to the TV to grasp every detail, only to retreat myself forcibly in one particular scene.

Spanish being my first language, I really enjoyed the dialogue. I don't know what will be people's reaction to the translation when watching it in English or with subtitles. Sometimes this can make a big difference. But, if you like horror and are in for something different, try this one!

Courageous (I) (2011)

too preachy
20 January 2012
I believe this could've been a great movie had it not been so preachy and exaggerated. It started pretty good but then I became kind of bored. The story was beautiful, it was touching sometimes, it had a great message, but they didn't deal with it the right way. The performances felt forced (sometimes it looked like a soap opera) and very unrealistic. Halfway through it I felt like I was in a church listening to a preacher. If you're a Christian and you believe that praying solves every problem, maybe you can identify with this movie and give it full credit. I say maybe, because I am a Christian, but I know that's not how life works. If, on the other hand, you're not a Christian, don't bother watching this because you'll get upset pretty soon.

2012: Ice Age (2011 Video)

Absolutely awful
18 December 2011
I can't remember the last time I watched so bad a movie! Horrible acting, horrible script and unoriginal. I have no problem with B-rated films, but I don't even know how to categorize this. I guess the actors were randomly selected at a shopping mall or something. Stupid lines, absurd reactions, unintelligent plot. Honestly, I believe I laughed more with this movie than with many other comedies I've seen recently.

My husband is a fan of movies that deal with natural disasters and was really hopeful that this one wouldn't disappoint. But 5 minutes into it and we were already mad. He actually fell asleep halfway through.

Suggestion: recommend this to your worst enemy!
