Three Pines: The Murder Stone - Part 2 (2022)
So So Bad
I love reading the books by Louise Penny. I thought I give this series a try. The first 4 episodes were OK with the familiar characters in Three Pines.
But these last two had nothing to do with Three Pines except that two of the characters were from Three Pines and staying at the hotel where a murder has taken place.
Continuing the subplot of missing Blue Two-River. The person who has the information about her disappearance is waiting in a café. Instead of CALLING him to tell him they're on the way Gamache and Lacoste just take their time getting there. Of course he's left by the time they get there to get arrested. And, guess what, they find him dead in his cell. Sheesh.
Eleventh Hour (2006)
Stupid Beyond Belief
- A government "Scientist" needs to do research so he goes to a public library and reads through newspapers. Not microfiche or online. No, physical newspapers.
- When he finds the article he needs he rips it out of the newspaper! Rips it out!
Sheesh.
A Century of Sound (2007)
Historical, Informative and Witty
The history of sound on film from the beginning. Even before the beginning starting with Alexander Graham Bell's work.
A plethora of film clips showing the development of the various technologies to reproduce sound on film as well as clips from the early films.
Best of all is the narrator, Robert Gitt, whose knowledge and sense of humor add greatly to the enjoyment of this DVD.
The Serpent (2021)
Pretty Good
The series is pretty interesting. It tells a story that I was not familiar with. The switching back and forth in time was fine.
My biggest gripe was that none of the actors that are chain smoking actually smoke. They just hold a cigarette to the lips take a little breath and immediately puff it out. I've never in my live (25 years as a smoker) seen a smoker do that. They suck that smoke in and blow it out.
But the biggest annoyance is that they are not using real cigarettes! They are plastic tubes with lights at the end and probably an e-cig inside. Very annoying.
Mr. Robot: 405 Method Not Allowed (2019)
Stupid, Stupid, Stupid
Elliot and Darlene know exactly where a certain server is in a Server room.
Elliot and Darlene plan everything down to the second but leave a little door in the elevator open for the guard to see.
Darlene walks out of the building past guards and police who KNOW there were people in the Server room and they don't stop her.
Am I missing something here? Smart people doing stupid things to advance the plot. Sheesh!
The Bay (2019)
Stopped Watching within 25
First, the parents shout, "why aren't you looking for the kids" and the main character doesn't say we have another team looking for them. No, she just says they're doing their job.
Second (and when I stopped watching), their collected
"evidence' from the family house and they're shown taking a computer MONITOR! They'll get a lot of "evidence" from a monitor. Sheesh.
