The Jewel of the Nile (1985)
It's no Romancing The Stone.
So Romancing The Stone is one of my favorites.
I watched this sequel when it first came out and was disappointed but gave it a little bit of a pass since I knew I was hoping for too much.
I just now, years later, watched it again, with low expectation, which usually works for me to have an enjoyable watching. No such luck. They all thought they had us wrapped around their finger and we'd just lap up whatever slop they threw at us. They got their millions because they knew we would watch it and clearly showed their opinion of us.
Annabellum: The Curse of Salem (2019)
Why a 3.6 rating when none under 6 shown?
I guess since it is an independent, it's getting sandbagged.
The Kid (2019)
The Kid walks the line and keeps it's balance.
I watched the new good movie, "The Kid" about 2 weeks ago.
A movie that sticks in your mind.
Dane DeHaan; mesmerizing
Ethan Hawke; Don't miss his performance.
211 (2018)
Nicolas Cage; nuf' Said!
If you like Nicolas Cage, watch this movie, if not, don't and you can stop reading right here.......
The first 15 minutes made me reflect on all the "1" ratings but when I saw the cop family fleshing out real people and when an abortion is not even mentioned during the discussion of an unexpected pregnancy, I realized this movie is being sandbagged by the liberals as per usual. I started watching for a prayer but I was reaching too far.
Nic Cage has a great performance. The movie kept me entertained. Like I said; Nuff said!
Battlefield Earth (2000)
Let's get real!
In my perfect world, there would be ratings for people who rate movies. I would very much like to be able to quickly access like-minded peoples' opinions of a movie that I am interested in watching. Is there an app for this already? Please direct me to it if there is so that I don't have to search thru this mindless bunch of people who give numerous 1 star reviews.
A clue; This is a 10 star rating system which is great if used properly. For example, you look and see a movie rated 7 or 8 or 9; all those #'s give you different nuanced, subtle feeling. If you get tired looking for a great movie, you start looking for anything over 5 and might settle even on a 5 if it was up your alley or had a favorite actor or two.
No way are you going to watch a 4 or lower unless it's a cult classic or a friend says you "gotta see it" for some crazy scene or theme. So if you don't like a movie give it a 3 or a 4 or even a 5 if you have a bit of an insight that someone with different tastes might like it. But to give a movie a 1 star@"?#
Reserve a 1 star the way that you should reserve a 10 star. Use it once or twice in your life and let it have an impact for yourself and the rest of us.
