Beast (2022)
Painful
I don't want to waste any more of my time on this movie explaining anything, but it's SUCH A HORRIBLE SCRIPT that I'd hate for anyone else to waste their time on it.
If you're reading this review, waste no more time... move on... this movie should have stayed in the high school locker it seemed to have been inspired from...
I feel sorry for the actors, because it was such a horrible script... they did what they could with what they were given, but there will be no Oscar awards for anything related to this movie.
The producer must have been flush with funds to finance this obvious "pet project" of someone's... My guess is they didn't care if it made any money or not.
Survive the Game (2021)
Survive the MOVIE!
Such a cliché story... horrible lines... bad acting... the director overdid it with the lighting effects... "this is my farm"... "this is my farm"... takes another drink from the bottomless mickey... Willis must be hard up for jobs...
The Virtuoso (2021)
Finally, a different spin on an old plot
This movie never claims to be an action packed assassin movie, so I don't go into it with that expectation. The implied plot is typical, but the mystery keeps you interested, and even if/when you think you've figured things out, you still want to watch for confirmation, and to enjoy the acting... the acting is excellent, and the cameo appearance by Hopkins is simply a treat, but doesn't trump anyone else's acting (in fact, the movie could be made without that character even being a part of it)...
DEFINITELY WORTH YOUR TIME.
Our Friend (2019)
Closest thing to reality
Outstanding men. Outstanding love. Outstanding performances.
Alone Across the Arctic (2019)
A Beautiful Melancholy
A beautiful melancholy of the stubborn perseverance when you challenge yourself to meet up to your own personal standards and let everybody watch the raw emotions of you completing your goal. WOW. I felt like I was in the moments with him, when he'd discover the unexpected barriers of days or marsh crossings, canyons, rocks... ice forever... and the will to persevere, despite knowing you're not really doing it for any other reason than to just complete it, because you've come this far- but it's hell... it's been hell, and everyone is behind you, whatever you decide- but they expect you to surrender- because you know it's been HELL, but you just keep going forward - eventually asking yourself, WHY? Why go on. Is this worth it?
Phenom: My Mum Talks to Aliens (2010)
What an exceptionally well designed conflict of conspiracies.
WOW... this was a very good documentary... you felt like you were on the journey with them at each stage.
Dark Tourist (2018)
Unintentionally Hilarious, and interesting.
This guy's dry humor sneaking into awkward and dangerous moments makes this "documentary" entertaining & relatable as a common civilian who'd be walking into the same scenarios.
Despite some lame moments, this is Totally BETTER than the other reviewers are suggesting.
The Loudest Voice (2019)
What happened after though?
The story was "good" leading up to the final episode- but a whole second series/season could be done to satisfy the curiosity of what occurred afterwards... the few paragraphs posted at the end, really don't do much to appease an audience that watched this play out in real time; a "great" story would be one that covers the behind the scene frantic-antics that FOX had to put into motion to recover from this.
The acting was phenomenal. Everything was perfectly done- it just left you hanging with an empty void that could have been satisfied with 3 or 4 more episodes that showed how FOX handled the rest of the story.
Hold the Dark (2018)
CAPTIVATING THRILLER MYSTERY
Everything about this movie is an experience to admire! I usually just like to sit and watch the movie without ever trying to figure out the director's attempt at making their mark by creating their own signature of artistic expression... I hate those distractions when I'm trying to enjoy the movie (hoping there's a storyline to follow)... The "Kill Bill" and "Pulp Fiction"/ over-the-top type- despite their popularity, it's not my thing; THIS MOVIE should be considered a masterpiece equivalent to the directorship of KB and PF...
Whoever directed this movie was a genius- I was too excited while trying to share my like for this movie to actually remember his name, but I will watch for much more of his work now!
The story is unique (yes, I think it's a sort of a fresh perspective, despite some familiar themes), and the filming, acting, sound- everything carries you through the experience where you don't want to leave your seat- it's interesting and easy to follow, but not easy to figure out, surprises are great!
If you like The Village and Sixth Sense type of thing, you'll like this.
Braven (2018)
A solid 8...
Predictable, but as good as any other of its type...maybe even a little better with the Canadian backdrop... good acting & the special effects weren't overdone, made it much more tolerable than some action/thriller movies these days. Story was good once it got going. Worrh a watch... the ending was a new "win"... gained points for creativity!
