Middle of the Road...
20 December 2023
Bang Average unfortunately, It starts out well enough and the first half hour keeps us guessing to who and what is responsible but after the mystery disappears so does any horror element and the movie dissolves into nothing more than a generic action with ''creepy crawlies'' showing little tension from one choregraphed CGI ridiculous fight scene reminiscent of every modern Asian & Hollywood movie to date.

In the end we're left with yet another film we have all felt we've seen a dozen times or more but done better regardless of the quality of the CGI ( personally I thought it looked ridiculous ) over the past few years.

Its such a shame, I had hoped that this wouldn't turn out this way and should really had been a better film if it concentrated more on the horror and not the overly convoluted back story of the characters, there also seems to be a bit of a general layout these Asian movies go throughout that they all seem to play out very similarly.

That said what's going on in Hollywood far out weighs the Issues faced here.

FFS..take us back to the 80's!
3 April 2022
I cannot believe that all of these so called horror movies are going down this route, this film starts decent enough but within the 25 minute mark we're introduced to the same so" slow burn " that it's so boring & uninteresting, I've no idea why someone would think this is of interest for people to sit through but hey, it's been done at least a dozen times in the past year or two so let's copy this hey?...how about no!.

Take us back to the 80's where at least the films were interesting, entertaining & fun..not boring & annoying!

3 stars for set, environment & acting...story and pacing was GASH!

Lapaglia is brilliant!
18 January 2022
I really don't get the low rating of this, it's a pretty good movie in which Anthony La Paglia plays an undercover agent whom assumes the identity of many persona's (hence the title '' The chameleon'' ) yrs after his wife is murdered by a mob Hitman, we also get to see the mental effect that this takes on him over extended periods of time of him playing these characters in his desperation to track this hitman down.

May not be the ground breaking but one of if not may favourite 90's thrillers in which is hugely boosted by La Paglia & Co's performances.

Stick with it!...

If you're a fan of sci Fi horror and like what Korea has been offering lately ( who doesn't as we're getting some great entries ) then this should please you!.

It's a little slow for the first episode or two but do persevere as it seems to find it's stride, a few things seem to be going on and it's not entirely obvious about why certain people are infected and some are not but it's early days still and this brings a fresh spin on what we're used in this type of series.

Really glad I stuck with it, reminds me Abit of a Korean version of "The Mist" with zombies.."mutants" as they're referred to in the show.

Hope this helps.

That's right...nothing else!

The reality is the acting was actually pretty good apart from the lead female character whom I can only describe as the weakest of the bunch. Also describing this movie to similar films in the likes of Alien, The Thing, Leviathan or even Deep Star Six is very laughable, it does not come close to any of them through entertainment, special fx, horrifying antagonist or thrilling finale, infact I thought the film was so drawn out it was boring and did nothing to build towards an uninteresting story full of uninteresting characters and an uninteresting creature you didn't really see, so drawn out it was literally boring...then it ended.

I can only describe this as a sci fi drama where people die, made for the modern pretentious who can only watch current films and cannot watch far superior films due to the fact they weren't made in the passed year or two.

I thought the recent film underwater was much better than this, and that's saying something because that wasn't by much better than this!

The most shocking thing here is the lack of shock!
20 April 2016
Well i'll try and keep it short, i was looking forward to this especially for the period setting and different take that was promised, the acting was good but sadly that was it as i found ye olde English tongue uncomfortably nauseating throughout the whole film, kinda like someone rushing to tell another person a crucial bit of information only to find out the person doing the talking has an extreme case of stuttering.

The characters are yet again quite unlikeable ( understatement ) and the plot or story doesn't really do anything to entertain neither did it add much horror to the film which is the true shock here, what we really are treated to is religious types driving each other into the ground for the majority of the film.. in reality this is yet another attempt at being an art-house atmosphere type ( one of those! ) films.

Comedy/ horror?...the only thing funny about this is that its suppose to entertain.
16 April 2016
Actually another thing funny about this is that its trying to pass itself off as a movie when there isn't really a storyline that seems to go in any sort of direction.

The sad reality is in this day and age is absolutely boring flicks like this are much more common than they use to be, boring unlikeable characters followed with a shoddy FPS camera deliberately done to cash in on a certain film thats to hit the cinemas soon alongside with the obvious cover art which is much more thrilling than the flick is in which i'd state they should just stick to creating desktop images instead of films. No redeeming features whatsoever...avoid!

Bedtime story/fairy tale of boring characters and predictable outcome
28 October 2015
As said above, I had high hopes for this only to be diminished within minutes of starting to watch I knew exactly where this was heading, in fact this is very much of the same ilk of many recent films in the past couple of years.

A couple move to town where things in woods are out to get them and no help from the locals is the synopsis which sets itself up for the predictable trail it follows and so many have done so quite recently, can't remember the name of the Kevin Costner one but that was much better, plus sides are the effects were good....that's about it really, found the film to be uninteresting and I couldn't of cared less what happened to the characters and prayed for their quick demise so I could continue on to another film.

MUCH!!!.. better than it should be and the majority of others in this genre
27 September 2015
What can I say but asylum have hit a magic note with this show, I'll keep it short but this show is for genuine fans of the horror comedy genre which is not to be taken in the same context as every other show out there, every episode seems to bring a new story which is quite separate but adjoining to the main season storyline. more fun, entertaining, cheesy and hilarious than anything else like it and surprisingly well acted with lovable great characters, not to be taken seriously but if this is not for you then you are really missing out, not to be compared to TWD as they're two completely different things with only zombies in common. Not every season is up to par but it does manage to entertain each episode unlike the majority of the higher rated TV series with their filler episodes which is quite remarkable in comparison.

thoroughly undeserved of the low IMDb rating.

Sub-Zero Horror!... At Its Best!
28 August 2015
Well all I can say is what a pleasant surprise, just when I was looking for something that would fly under the radar this popped up!,in a world populated by c grade trash and Hollywood tripe movies this is the sort of film genuine horror fans will enjoy, although a little of a slow burner its apocalyptic arctic setting builds to a climatic yet somewhat satisfying but logical end without overstepping the overall mark.

Not a huge lot of replay value to be truthful but horror fans will enjoy it every now and then in the right setting as I will, well acted...well pretty much everything was done to above a good standard to be truthful and this will join my collection among many other from the same genre.

ps....not a real zombie film but something much more.

Child 44 (2015)
similar to citizen X!!!!!!
25 July 2015
Well as I was looking forward to this I thought I would review this as feature, i'll keep it short though and as I found this film heavily influenced on CITIZEN X filmed in the early 90's I still thoroughly enjoyed it but would state that is the worse of the two by a country mile and that it was less compelling and even swayed from the path of interest, all that said it is still a very decent film and captures the effect of the U.S.S.R. of that time period and the mindset surrounding it, but it should as the way has already been set for it!.

As I have said previously I found the movie citizen x a much superior, better acted and more believable film and especially since it is based upon reality but then I'am just filling lines in here just to make IMDb happy in its minimum requirements.

30 seconds!!!!...thats all it took to ruin it.
25 July 2015
well i'll keep this short and sweet. I thought the film was a pretty good b movie horror which was well written and acted by all, the only let down from this feature was the poor cgi and the last 1 minute or so in which the director or script writer had quite clearly ran away with him/herself which leaves us with a sour taste in the mouth with what could otherwise be considered a good film and in my opinion completely trashed the overall feel within seconds, you'll know what I mean when you watch it as it had managed to avoid the clichés the whole way but just gave in right at the end....such a shame!

Really!!!..for a movie on the road this doesn't seem to go anywhere!
26 June 2015
As said by some others this is a disappointment, it had the same vibe of disappointment as the two previous instalments but I found them more entertaining at least, the first mad max was a good film and by far the best of the series and this fails to bring any form of "mad max" to life as throughout the film as tom hardy's ( good casting call ) mad max remained nothing but tame max at very best, I also felt that for something based in or around a large chase scene it didn't seem to go anywhere throughout, the movie it started well but stayed at the same pace throughout the film.

To say i'am unimpressed is an understatement especially in this day and age especially with all the money that was put into this and the cast with what they had did play a good part....nothing special at all!

disappointed to say the least!

Warning: Spoilers
I'm gunna try to keep this short,I had been looking forward to this for awhile and knowing of Missy peregrym in this gave me an even bigger incentive to watch as I find her quite a capable actress, all this said I felt hugely cheated and disappointed with this and feel it a missed opportunity, everything these days is based on a true story so I care not for the poor camera work which reared its head when it really needed not to, although the actors/actress I found did there job I thought the script writing was long drawn out and just shoddy.

-SPOILER ALERT- 1hr 5 mins of nothing but a domestic in the woods did nothing for character development which wasn't covered in the first 15 mins and when the story did finally start to role forward 25 mins before the end it isn't really that captivating or nothing not seen but better in previous films, maybe I had seen the Red machine AKA grizzly which however less believable was far better in every way.

don't listen to all the others!
13 July 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Upon reading every other review of this site i thought i would give this film a watch and was whole heartedly looking forward to watching this when hearing about it on bloodydisgusting.com last year, Now i very rarely write a review and only if i have really enjoyed a film or feel that i have been completely cheated. ....SPOILERS.... I found it hard to like any of the characters especially the lead who was selfish and incestuous, i found although the film was well acted and well written it wasn't that interesting and i couldn't of cared less what happened to any of the characters and least of all the creature or thing that is the sole reason for the sacrifices is never even seen.some sort of explanation is never given neither no origin stand point for the story. All in whole i thought the acting was the reasonably good that is the reason i give this a 4 and not a 3/10, the story itself doesn't really go anywhere but round in circles and then the end!. Films are a hobby of mine and i re watch most, anything from the 60's to the 80's and most are low budget...so i have no idea why one other reviewer would even consider re watching this film as it has no replay value whatsoever.
