If it ever happens that I were some big filming company, there would always be a chance for 3 directors to got what is called "carte blanche" for whatever project they were working on, and you can bet C. Nolan is one of them. Inception is not a story for everyone. Why? Because you need to THINK. You need to do what people nowadays hate to do: you need to open your mind, to let the idea come into your brain and develop into a parasite. "What is the most resilient parasite? An Idea!" And, of course, playing with the dreams isn't the most radical and newest idea someone could give you, I agree. But to play with dreams like Nolan wanted you to believe is possible - to make your mind twists just like that awesome scene in Paris - well, it's a great worm, you must admit that. This is the movie, just like Memento, where you have an extraordinary story, brilliant cast and, above all, mastermind to direct it, but now you have also a visual masterpiece, too. Details, special effects, colors, faces, costumes (what a great suits!) ~ everything was made to keep your mind busy, to make you believe in what was going on right in front of your eyes, on that goddammit screen.
Written and directed by the same person, this is what gave this story opportunity to become one man's masterpiece. When your portfolio consists of 10 movies directed by you, 9 of them fully written by you, and 6 of them also produced by you - and 5 of them are in IMDb's top 250 list, then you are one helluva great filmmaker. What was proved again. Thank you, Christopher Nolan, and very special Thank you, Leonardo DiCaprio, you gave me the best 2 hrs 30 mins I spent on movies. Ever.
