Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
I laughed so hard
This was a great movie. Bale made a terrifying villain and I loved to see Thor trying to win in so many humourous ways. The relationship with stormbreaker was brilliantly done. The choice of using Guns N Roses was perfect. I honestly don't know what people could dislike about this movie except maybe it was too funny!?
Luck (2022)
If my daughter likes it that's a huge win
Not often can I find a movie that both my daughter and I can enjoy. This movie was enjoyable for both of us and that is huge. Between a funny unicorn and a black cat done by one of my fave actors, Simon Pegg, I find this enjoyable enough to watch more than once (which all parents know is the hallmark of a true movie winner). She likes it and I enjoy it enough to watch it with her. And as someone who leans heavily into the bad luck column I can relate to Sam.
The Pentaverate (2022)
If you Like Mike Myers' humour you'll enjoy this
You have to enjoy his style of humour and there are a ton of VERY Canadian jokes that mostly Canadians will be the only ones to appreciate. Mike Myers has a very specific type of humour and this is a fun display. I'm enjoying it so far.
Deep Water (2022)
Great acting and so frustrating
Melinda is so unlikable that I wanted her to be killed. I can't imagine how anyone would want to be with someone like her. She's stunning to look at but a total POS. The only ones I cared about (or felt sorry for) were Trixie and the dog.
Cheaper by the Dozen (2022)
Simple family comedy
First I think this should have been a TV series. With so many children and the dynamics of a blended mixed race family I think they missed the boat on the story lines.
I think (sadly) some of the negative reviews may be related to the racial issues discussed. People generally don't like to be challenged.
Overall it's a cute movie that in my opinion failed only I'm using some of the low hanging f fruit plot devices like when the Dad is trying to be young and hip by dressing in his kids clothes.
The Sex Lives of College Girls (2021)
I wish my experience had been this exciting
While over the top drama this is so fun to watch. I'm obsessed. I love these women and totally want them to succeed. I love that they aren't supermodels and they show some people need to work to afford to go to school.
8-Bit Christmas (2021)
A fun movie
I really enjoyed this. I would have been right in that age range and while I wasn't obsessed with Nintendo I do remember people who were. I remember esprit boots and the cabbage patch kid craze! The only thing that bugged me is how they didn't seem to age the mom more than a wig. Her skin looks smoother than NPH!!!
Colin in Black and White (2021)
Unique and interesting
I can only assume the negative reviews were people who aren't comfortable with talking about race. This show is entertaining and thought provoking. A must watch for allies. I feel uncomfortable with the naïvety of his parents and friends. Lots of lessons to be learned.
Moonshine (2021)
Would be better if there were more likeable characters
I like this show and it has potential but I think too many of the characters have no redeeming qualities. If the writers can't make you want the family to succeed then you're more likely to just want that family business to fail so they will all just move away.
Gunpowder Milkshake (2021)
Great action flick ... don't believe the hate
If you're looking for a fun action film it's great. You're not going to get deep thoughts here, but you got a lot of kicking ass. I can only assume the haters just don't enjoy that it's all women because I have seen very similar all male movies that everyone loves.
Down to Earth with Zac Efron (2020)
Why is it out of order?
The episodes are clearly out of order. It drives me nuts that they reference things that happen in later episodes like they happened already.
The show itself is very good and entertaining. A little too much zooming in in zac and the travel sponsors were shown to viewers about as subtle as a hammer to the head.
De twaalf (2019)
Are jury trials really like this?
If this is how a jury operates then how can anyone get a fair trial? The story in terms of a mystery (who did it) was pretty good but in terms of justice - it was hard to watch. Maybe it's my unfamiliarity with the Belgium system and I hate how easily they portrayed people / cops lying.
Magnum P.I. (2018)
Why all the hate?
I don't get why everyone hates it so much. I was a fan of the original series and surprised at how much I enjoyed this pilot. It almost feels like a smear campaign with the amount of hate going on.
