Not an original story
I am an avid sci-fi reader from the days of the 10 cent paperbacks. One of my anthology collections had this story in it, almost verbatim. But that being said, it is a wonderful, rollicking, happy and sad film. The special effects were hard to believe, going far beyond the Star Wars and Lord of The Rings series'. I do agree that the female character neytiri was quite attractive. Sitting next to my wife in the theater here in the Philippines (I am on extended vacation) I pointed out to her how much the character looked like she does. It is always fun to see the actor's face without the makeup, and HOW DID THEY DO THOSE EYES??? Someone was asking me if there might be a sequel, and I suppose it could happen, maybe a "revenge of the earthlings" type scenario...but regardless this film is extraordinary, even if totally borrowed from old sci-fi. Some day I will remember who wrote the story and relate it here. For now..GO SEE THIS FILM!!
Silent Partner (2005)
Tara Reid is hot
Too bad there wasn't any nudity, (and there were a couple of scenes where it would have fit the plot line}. Would have helped me to enjoy this a little more. There are the usual car chases and aggressive Soviet police activities. I couldn't believe that there aren't any helicopters for the car chase. The photography was good enough, and the appearance of the actors fits their characters. But the plot line takes a turn that is impossible to believe when the CIA agent decides to rescue a girl (Reid) who claims she will be killed if he leaves the country. An international incident would have occurred if this were real life. And of course there is way to much shooting with nobody hitting anything.
