Iron Man 2 (2010)
4/10
Just not enough
8 May 2010
Warning: Spoilers
So I'm the biggest Iron Man fan I know. My Myspace name is Tony Stark, I loved Iron Man 1, and I enjoy the comics too. So I'm no guru but I'm just giving you some perspective.

I'm a big fan but still did not like this movie. It was over 2 hours long and I felt EVERY minute of it. The magic was gone. The fights were few and far between and very short. I can hardly count that scuffle between drunk Ironman and War Machine a fight. There was too much politics, too much talk, and no heart. Why the filmmakers decide to have him expose himself as Ironman is a mystery to me. Where is the charming funny Tony Stark? And where's his cute relationship with Pepper? None of it gelled. Mickey Rourke could have been a cool villain but he was defeated almost as easily as his drones. This movie was on Transformers 2 level. And that's actually a very good comparison unfortunately.

This was a sequel that should have beaten out the first. But it doesn't compare to it. I wanted a superhero blowout and I got a political snooze fest. Sorry, Ironman 2, I wanted to love you, but you just weren't epic enough.

Robbed of my $13, but the glasses are pretty cool
8 January 2010
OK, so not too many movies deserve a 1 rating, and neither does this one. But I have to do something to keep this from staying in the top 250. Judging by how high up it is already, I'm fighting a losing battle. But still, if anyone watched the same movie as me and is over the age of 12 this movie would not be close to the ranking it holds. Here's why: Weak plot-How many times do we have to see the "noble" average man try to do something meaningful with his life and wind up falling in love with nature? *Yawn* The whole thing is beyond cliché and too predictable to even hope that something will surprise you. The main bad guy is a jacked up cartoon villain while while the others are just plain looking soldiers. You knew what he was going to do the second he walked on the screen. *Yawn* You've also got floating mountains, a fake mineral called ubotonium or something like that, and giant blue cats who worship (ready?) A tree that omits floating white jellyfish. Whoa...

Bad writing-The writing was almost as bad as the GI Joe movie. I felt like I was watching the Power Rangers. Whether the acting was decent or not is lost because of the weak dialog. Nobody really had anything to work with, but what can you expect from a blockbuster action flick? I'm no fool. I know James Cameron saw an opportunity to make some easy money and he took it. And it worked. Records are being broke as I type. But he cashed in on technology that he knew people would gobble up. He sloppily threw together multiple cliché elements of other similar movies, made them fluorescent and 3D, and stretched it to 2 1/2 hours to make it seem epic. If this was M. Night whatshisface I wouldn't care as much. But James Cameron c'mon. Take this movie out of 3D (why people care about that I still have no idea, the 3D shades make the movie too dark) and you've got fantasy dribble that holds no water, makes no logical sense, and can't hold a candle to the Lord of The Rings series.

Are you people nuts??
15 December 2009
People must be crazy to say this wasn't a good movie. Sure there's plenty of goofy stuff going on, but it's supposed to be funny. But what I really like about it is the fact that the action is very over the top and still watchable. The movie makers got to have a ton of fun by setting the movie in an imaginary world. And it's just as fun to watch. Arnold is hilarious as always, how can you not love watching him? I also love the scenes when our hero enters the real world. It immediately becomes grim and gloomy. Plus its a cool plot, and the villains are pretty interesting too.

People who bash this movie simply don't know how to take it. Is it action? Is it comedy? Is it supposed to be comedy? Yes to all. Great concept, tons of action, and lots of laughs. Get off your high horses and just enjoy this classic.

Halloween II (2009)
4/10
Why?
19 September 2009
OK, so I had a lot of beef with this new Halloween. I'm not going to whine about it, I'll just start listing the cons of this film. -Why does the story take place in Illinois but everyone in the movie is a redneck with a pickup truck and a dog in the back? -The originals took place in the suburbs, not in hicksville where the houses are miles away from each other (Michael hikes it through miles of farmland) -Dr. Loomis is a huuuge dick until the last 2 minutes of the movie. He's supposed to be the hero! We root for him. Without him there's no one else to like except maybe the sheriff. -Michael Myers has to kill everything he comes in contact with. This isn't necessarily wrong but he does everything with way too much passion, like he planned it all out. It was over violent as far as Michael Myers movies go. He even makes noise while hacking people apart. He never even talked before but now they show him talking as a kid like he was perfectly normal. -Rob Zombie copied off of the Friday the 13th movies with the visions of the mother. Not to mention Psycho. Big ripoff. -Everyone feels the need to antagonize the 7 foot guy walking through the streets with his hood up. Need I say more?

Rob Zombie put no original thought into this movie. It's totally clichéd and butchered the Michael Myers story to pieces. On top of all that, I can't stand the redneck theme that Zombie has added to the whole story. The movie moved along OK, but didn't get interesting until the last twenty minutes or so. No need to waste your time, unless B movie horror is what you're in the mood for.

Glee (2009–2015)
8/10
My new favorite
11 September 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Glee looked cool just from the commercials, and it really stuck out to me that they were going to sing "Don't Stop Believing." Great song. All of the kids can sing, though they are clearly lip syncing, but it doesn't take anything away from it. What I didn't expect was for it to also be so funny. The lady from 40 Year Old Virgin and Role Models (among many other movies) was just as funny as she usually is on screen. Great part for her to play. The situations, such as the kids in the abstinence club all trying to get laid, were fresh and original. It was fun to watch, and the first episode was topped off beautifully by a girl singing a Rihanna song better than Rihanna. Give it a shot, you might like this show. And chances are it won't last long, too many good shows don't, so hurry.

Pretty bad, BUT...
7 September 2009
You know what, I have to agree with the comment preceding my own for the most part. Very dull movie, slow-paced, bad acting, unbelievable characters. And I didn't really understand the prank in the bedroom. What did they do to that condom? But I digress.

For some reason I still see hints of potential gleaming through this dark cloud of a film. For example, the scene towards the end when the sun is rising and the music is playing and we see all the characters waking up. I found that to be a beautiful scene. Great song choice and just a nice scene all around. And when the jock comes back to the house in the morning dressed as a clown. I chuckled.

What I guess I'm trying to say is that I've seen worse, but not too much worse. Films would benefit much more if the writers did not force so much, and just let the essence of the film speak for itself.

Another summer let down
9 August 2009
I just saw the movie today so I wanted to do this while it was fresh in my mind.

I was never a GI Joe fan, but of course when a big summer blockbuster like this comes along, any guy is gonna go see it. (Even if the only other summer blockbuster I enjoyed this year was Star Trek.) GI Joe, though entertaining and containing some warm and fuzzy moments, was another let down for me. I won't drag this out, since it doesn't take much explaining.

The acting was sub par at best. Tatum, not a bad actor, but not badass enough to carry this. There were moments where I was all the way behind him, and other moments where I wondered how he got casted.

Gordon-Levitt. Been around a while, always been decent. But he turns into this evil villain and hams it up so bad, you want to die every time he's on the screen. Reminded me of a power ranger villain. There was literally a part when he "Muahahahaha"'d in there. Horrible.

That leads me to the writing. There was some laughably bad dialogue that makes you wonder who they thought would be watching this movie. And it bothers me even more that decent enough actors were forcing out these cheesy lines. The guy who played in Traitor and Vantage Point is usually good as well. But he plays the nerdy computer hacker guy, he's so wimpy and corny I can't stand him. Oh and by the way, somehow we can pinpoint someone's location by seeing where their shadow was 50 hours ago. Wtf?? Oh well. Throw in Marlon Wayans for a couple cheap chuckles and it's OK.

The special effects weren't even good enough to make up for the bad acting. But it did have decent action scenes, and they were also nice and long. Good rental, good time killer, but not a classic at all.

Not the first at all
25 July 2009
Warning: Spoilers
OK, so I'm a bit late, but I just watched Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I wasn't as excited to see it as everyone else, but still wanted to. And it reached the expectations I had for it.

I was happy right from the start when the robots were fighting in China. Great action, slow mo shots, fast chases. That's what an action movie is about. Unfortunately, the movie did not stay that way.

I was happy to see the origins and backstory behind the Transformers. It was actually interesting. But they dragged it out as much as they could. This caused the film to be about three hours long. The other main problem I had was that the robot fights were few and far between. I don't want to watch people run from robots the whole movie. I want to see good robots kill bad robots. Duh.

I was also scratching my head about a few things: -You can't even take a tube of toothpaste on a plane. How do you get a robot in a box on board? -Why does she fly 3000 miles to go see her Sam but his parents drove him to college in what seemed like 20 minutes? -Why do all of the Transformers suddenly know how to curse and do it quite frequently? -Why do the Decepticons disguise themselves as cars when they can turn into humans? Michael Bay must have wanted to make a Terminator movie. We could see it coming a mile away. Stupid. -If "The Fallen" was so great and powerful and you're gonna amp us up for this epic battle, then why does Optimus Prime hop right up from his deathbed and rip his face open without breaking a sweat? I was hoping that wasn't the end but oh well.

The robots fighting is what everyone wants to see. They spent too much time on the story and trying to fit in over the top slapstick comedy in stupid places and not enough time on good ol' fashioned action. Great looking movie, fun enough to watch, but not as magic as the first one at all.

Bullet (1996)
5/10
Eh...
24 June 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I watched Bullet one night expecting to have something to keep me occupied for a little while. With it only being an hour and a half long I figured it would move quick and keep me interested.

The plot was predictable and really had no twists to it. It reminded me of King Of New York in a way because we see him leave prison and go right back to doing stupid stuff that almost got him killed before. You know how the movie will end as soon as it starts. Tupac could have killed Bullet multiple times in the movie, but toys with him to "torture" him and get revenge. But at the end he just shoots him and runs away. Nothing clever and nothing unexpected. They attempted to build suspense but it led nowhere.

Tupac's performance was not as good as some of his other movies, and it was a really cliché type of character anyway. Adrien Brody was underused. Mickey Rourke was good as usual. He's great at playing the twisted hardass. Ted Levine was also great. Who better to play the paranoid ex-army psycho brother? Also keep an eye out for Donnie Wahlberg playing Big Balls haha.

So in general Bullet was OK. If you're bored check it out. You can kill an hour and a half. Wasn't too bad.

Why???
20 April 2009
I've seen plenty of ppl go over why this movie wasn't good, but I'm just so bothered by all the ppl who loved it that I had to add my opinion in.

I'd like to start by saying that this movie is nothing like the classic Superbad. Only thing in common is the Greg Motolla the director, Bill Hader, and Jesse Eisenberg acting just like Michael Cera. Almost too much like him. I can't figure out how he was getting that much action. Weird.

The movie is not funny. No laughs, just one or two chuckles. Very misleading. Just like Nick and Norah. Boring. An hour and a half that felt like three hours. No suspense or wondering because you can see exactly what is about to happen. Dumb cop-out ending. And they were at an amusement park. That seemed like a cool concept, but nothing was really done with it. Ryan Reynolds I think was also a little out of place. Not bad acting, just not him maybe. There were even scenes when peoples hair was different between shots. This is a B movie at best. Which is not a bad thing, but it doesn't live up to the hype behind Superbad or any other teen film we've seen lately. Don't bother with it. Wait for Funny People with Sandler and Rogen to come out, or go see I Love You Man.

By the way, why the hell do ppl think that Superbad takes place in the 80s???? Did they have Nextel phones or porn sites back then?? Plz pay attention when you watch a movie you guys.

I'm ashamed that this is a Christian film
19 April 2009
The only reason I'm commenting on this title is because it's one of the worst things I've seen in a while. A buddy of ours showed it to me at church and me and my other friend couldn't stop making fun of it. The acting is atrocious. I kept telling myself that someone cool or funny will pop up. But it never happens. Every actor is the same one dimensional boring thing. Special effects (if you can call them that)will make you laugh out loud, I promise. This went on for what felt like three hours. So stupid. I understand this movie was made with a low budget but come on. Make your actors act a little bit. And add in some dialogue that a human being might actually use. If you want decent Christian movies, check out the Left Behind series. This movie is pure garbage.

Not the original, of course, but still cool
11 April 2009
I would like to start out by saying that I love first LB movie. I own it, it's one of my favs. I saw the new one and of course it's not the original, nothing is. But it was cool to see Feldman reprise his role and even make it better by making Edgar older and bitter. I love Feldman no matter what. But there are things that people seemed to miss about this one. Like the main character's last name being Emerson. That was Haim's last name in the original but for some reason they never touch on that in the movie. I wish they explained that. The other thing that people seem to forget is that LB is a deep movie. Seeing the way the vampires live, and seeing things from their perspective. You see them as characters instead of just monsters. This one did a good job of that. The action was OK, the gore and blood were great with the new technology but the way some of the vamps died was cheesy. A holy water balloon? I expected some more hardcore vampire kills than that. Overall, cool little flick, worth watching it, and definitely keep watching after the credits. I won't spoil it, but I loved what I saw.

Are you kidding me??
11 April 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I don't get it. All the suspense, everybody going crazy, killing themselves. And the whole time it's plants. Plants. Try to take it seriously, I dare you. They can't move on their own but they have some sort of crazy ability to make us kill ourselves. Mark Wahlberg can't act but he does pull off a couple funny moments. This movie had zero action, and no threat of a bad guy or anything. Wherever you go, the wind can get you and you'll die. But in the end, Marky and his girl both go out into it, and magically nothing happens. Whoa, didn't see that one coming. Stupid movie, don't know why it was MNSs first R rated film. Don't bother with it.

Not a lot of hype, but worth watching
25 March 2009
This isn't a movie that got a whole lot of hype but it's actually one of the best animated films I've seen, and also a good movie overall, animated or not. The characters were original, and believe it or not, the acting (or voices) was good. It was very clever, and the jokes were quick and almost non stop. You do not have to be kid at all to enjoy this one. Kevin James and Nick Cannon come through big playing the two police officers. They add comic relief to an already funny movie. Great original story, lots of laughs, great action, great characters, and a very visually pleasing movie. Go grab this one, trust me you won't regret it.

Overrated
25 March 2009
Let me start this off by saying that I love Judd Apatow and Seth Rogen. Big fan of their movies. But this one is highly overrated.

I expected to be rolling on the floor laughing the whole time and it really wasn't very funny. A couple scenes were trying to earn shock laughs but if you've ever seen a real porno, it's just kiddie stuff. It's only surprising if you're 10. The movie moved slow and there weren't many laughs. Basically just a romantic comedy with a twist to it that makes you wonder what it could be about.

I think Seth Rogen was just in over his head with this one, but not every movie can be Superbad you know? Rent it, see how you like, but don't believe the hype.

This might just be the worst
22 March 2009
HORRIBLE!! If you are a fan of the Halloween series and are going through watching them all (like I was) skip this one. Where do they get off calling a movie Halloween and not featuring the star of the movie. Can you picture the writers around a table coming up with this???

"Yeah so the first 2 films have done great. Let's come up with something different to keep them guessing." "Hey, why don't we just get rid of the Michael Myers guy?" "Yeah, it's old."

How dumb can it be? The movie is about masks that kill kids on Halloween. The main characters are complete nobodies with no emotion and we don't care about them at all. They go to the mask factory to stop them from being made. And of course they eventually succeed. Sorry for the spoiler but I do not want anyone to go through what I went through. Waiting and waiting for Michael Myers to show up. TERRIBLE movie. Please, do not ignore this warning. There is a reason why all the movies after it were about Michael Myers. DUH!!!!!

Surprisingly good film
15 March 2009
I turned this movie on randomly one night flicking through the channels and turned out really liking it. I liked the performances from Peebles and Brolin.

The twists in the plot were good too, especially the main twist that I must say caught me off guard. I liked this movie, but one thing almost made me want to turn it off: the lead actress. Where did they find her??? Possibly one of the worst I've ever seen. No emotion, and her voice sounded like it was dubbed or something. And with that said, there's no way I believed her as a tough FBI agent.

Other than her, this is a good movie. Not very well known but definitely worth checking out.

Backdraft (1991)
7/10
Good firefighter movie
11 March 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Backdraft was actually not a bad movie. The plot wasn't amazing mainly because it never really gets suspenseful and it just seems kind of stupid how trained firemen keep getting killed by the same type of fire. But I don't think the plot is what made the movie interesting. The relationship between the two brothers (Baldwin and Russell) keep the viewer watching. This is actually one movie where I said "gee, Kurt Russell can actually act". Possibly the only time I'll say that. This was a stretch for him and I really liked it. Baldwin's character is OK for me, nothing amazing, but decent. I really liked Donald Sutherland too. Even though he was thrown in as a rip-off of Hannibal Lectar (crazy criminal who tells them who the killer is if you talk to him about your past blah blah blah). Even though he led them toward the wrong people, possibly on purpose, and it was almost meaningless to have in the plot, I like Sutherland no matter what he's in. Robert De Nero as always is too cool. You have to like him, even though his part wasn't as big in this one. All in all, decent flick, worth watching, and possibly better than Ladder 49, as far as firefighter movies go.

Classic. You gotta try hard to down this one, guys
10 March 2009
OK, so I always like to read the negative comments because it makes you think more about the movie. But it seemed like people were taking positive things about the movie and saying that's what made it bad.

To me, it was amazing how the terminator and John Connor created a bond. It added a buddy action feel to it and you also felt for them when he was destroyed at the end. How could this make it bad? There was a plot hole here and there maybe, but time travel is pretty tricky. I always asked myself how John Connor is suddenly a teenager only six years after his mother became pregnant with him. And robots having Austrian accents? Funniest thing ever, but who else could ever play that part??? The special effects were superior to anything else at the time. People make comments about the first one but c'mon, did you see the same clay-animated robot as I did at the end?? Not to say I didn't like the first one but no movie is perfect. Robert Patrick also made a cool evil villain.

So I guess what I'm saying is that I'm a huge fan of T2, just like anybody else who grew up in the nineties. I mean, I was raised on it, and still like it today. Just wanted to address some of the things I read on here. Still one of my favs.

Possibly just about the worst movie I've ever seen
28 February 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I turned this movie on only because I like Rob Lowe, especially in his younger days. But even he was annoying in this movie. He spent his days lifting weights but was still the scrawniest kid you could imagine. The story made no sense, had no action, no drama, was very confusing, and nobody gave a s*** about any of the characters, at least I didn't. I didn't understand why they kept moving their hotel, why they had the dog stuffed after he died, or what the theme of this movie was even supposed to be. Rob Lowe and Jodie Foster were blood brother and sister but had an amazing time having sex which was uncomfortable to even watch. Do not watch this movie, please. Nothing redeeming about it, and no reason to check it out. I can't do justice how much I didn't like it in words but just heed my warning.

Superbad (2007)
10/10
Instant classic
19 February 2009
Seth Rogen and friends have made some good movies but I think they really outdid themselves with this one. I don't see them ever making a movie this funny and this enjoyable again. Maybe close, but not like this one. I feel like it really speaks for our generation way better than movies of the 90s did. The characters are lovable and we can easily relate to them. They actually seem like kids instead of adults playing kids. We see them learn about themselves and grow on screen. They also all have their own humor. I think Jonah Hill is very genuine in this movie and I can't get enough of him. Michael Cera is just so awkward you can't help but both laugh and cringe as you watch him, it's great. There are some other hilarious performances. Actually, just about everyone who we see on the screen adds to the essence of this movie. One of the best teen movies/comedies ever. I suggest that everyone give it a chance and enjoy it as much as me and my friends do.

An old favorite
18 February 2009
This is a movie I have loved since I was a kid when it was still pretty new. I must have watched it a million times. I watched it again recently and of course noticed the special effects were that of the 80's but it doesn't matter. This is one of the better fantasy movies there is. Original ideas, and very interesting and vivid landscapes and characters. I would love to see it remade with today's technology, but I'm afraid that someone would mess it up somehow. This movie is magical and I consider it a classic. Of course, I was raised watching it. It's not very well-known but I recommend it for anyone, as long as you have an open mind. Hopefully you enjoy it like I always have.

Mediocre movie with above average actors
18 February 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I was very excited to see Pride and Glory when it came out but I was disappointed when I saw it. Edward Norton, with no surprise, was very good. I liked watching him try to make tough decisions throughout the movie. Colin Ferrel's accent seemed a little more Boston than New York but he still played a good character. No one but Jon Voight could have played the part of their father. He's so good at playing a twisted bad guy.

With that said, the plot of the movie wasn't that gripping, and there was basically no action. The movie didn't really pull me in until maybe the last twenty minutes or so. There are some holes in the plot and things that happen and never get touched on again. The ending was also left mostly to the imagination. Could have been better. This was a decent flick but nothing amazing.

Street Kings (2008)
7/10
Cool cop movie
18 February 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I actually enjoyed Street Kings because I'm really into cop movies but I didn't expect there to be ONLY cops in the movie. Not really any gangsters or criminals. Just cops fighting each other. Forrest Whitaker was great but Keanu Reeves pulled his normal routine and showed no emotion. I understand that his role was supposed to be cold and ruthless, but I just couldn't get into his character. All I keep seeing is Keanu Reeves, an actor just reading off lines. I still can't figure out how he gets so much work. I actually liked Chris Evans better than I liked him. Hugh Laurie was also really good, and as always you would never know he's English. Common was in the movie for about five or ten minutes, and we were of course expecting him to play a bigger part just because of the ads. But all in all Street Kings is a cool movie, with a cool story, and some good characters. Not a lot of physical action, but still keeps you pretty interested.

Good movie gone wrong
17 February 2009
Warning: Spoilers
This movie could have been great. I'm not crazy about Mark Wahlberg but he's good at playing a tough guy cop. I also like Jaquin Phoenix's role. He cracked me up the way he laughed at things the other characters thought were serious. And I'm never disappointed with Robert Duvall. But c'mon. They not only let Phoenix help in their investigation, but become what seemed to be a detective right on the front line. Don't get it. But I could've dealt with that if some action had taken place somewhere in this movie. You keep waiting and waiting as the tension builds and leads up to nothing. Again, this movie could have been great, but fell short. It's boring, unenjoyable, and it drags. Just disappointing all around.
