Inside Man (2022)
Amazing destroyed by utterly stupid.
Just FYI, I stopped watching during a scene where a flash drive came into question. WFT is all I could say. The W stands for why. Just mind blowing stuff. There's no way in hell anyone, and I mean anyone would do what DT's character does. It is so far fetched as to be offensive to the viewer. Ridiculous. Tucci's character is brilliant. But not enough to make up for the sheer idiocy of the other. The scenes with Tucci and his cell mate are riveting and hilarious at times. The opening scene alone is enough to make you stop watching. I'm not trying to turn anyone away from watching. But I would love to slap the writer just once and ask WTF were you thinking?!
Andor (2022)
Early review, high scores.
Incredibly well written and conceived. Beautifully translated to the screen. The cast has been exceptional so far. I love how subdued the Sci Fi is, it makes it so much more believable. And each character carries so much weight, has so much depth. In other series I would ridicule excessive drama as filler between action. But here, the drama serves a purpose. It is the driver of the story, as opposed to the other way around. I love the the way new vehicles look. Like the senators limo. I am pulled into the story by the depth of the characters. Incredibly well written, incredibly well done. I only hope it can keep it up.
The King's Man (2021)
What were they thinking?
Had such high hopes for this. The first hour of this is utterly agonizing to get through. An incredible waste of money on talent and film and the potential to be so, so much better.
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
Truly terrible.
I cannot believe this has a higher raing than the terrible Suicide Squad. I find that disturbing. For those of you that considered this movie better than Suicide Squad, or rated this higher than 4, you're delusional. Just bad, just plain bad. Also, whoever decided Rosie Perez was a good casting, you're and imbecile. This movie sucks, full stop.
Apocalypto (2006)
Fantastic.
Outstanding characters. Well written and produced. The subtitles do not interfere with the visuals. It's incredibly well done. Well paced and not a slow spot in the film. And the latter 3rd of the movie is absolutely riveting. And a truly excellent unexpected ending. Brilliant.
Monsters of Man (2020)
Ruined by horrible character writing.
What would be a fantastic premise is undone by terrible characters. Is it that difficult to create believable and complex characters? I originally gave this a slightly higher score. My mistake was writing the review before the movie was over. Not worth the $4 I paid to rent it.
Preacher (2016)
Starts out amazing...
The first season is absolutely fantastic. Though it has slowly lost me from there. Actually stopped watching through the third season, just confusing and ridiculous. This whole ridiculous coronavirus this had me revisiting old series. I can only hope for redemption. Look, I smoke, but Seth...sometimes laying off the weed for a bit is a good thing.
Brockmire (2017)
Absolutely hilarious.
Brilliant cast.
Brilliant writing.
Hank Azaria is priceless.
This is one of the most underappreciated shows on television or any media for that matter.
1917 (2019)
Giving this movie a mediocre review is a crime.
Sam Mendes again, creates an amazing piece of work. Brilliantly executed. The cinematography is jaw dropping. A stunning work of art. Made to look like one seamless single shot, it is amazingly well done. Highly recommended.
Jojo Rabbit (2019)
Fantastic.
Taika Waititi is a brilliant film maker and absolutely hilarious. Outstanding cast. Highly recommended.
The Thing (2011)
Relatively good, though the studio derailed what would've been a far better movie.
I like the fact that they made it the prequel to Carpenter's Thing. They had actually used a lot of similar effects until the studio forced them to re-create everthing with CGI. They also made them change the ending. Then didn't even give the CGI team enough time to create quality effects. We could've had a far better movie if the studio didn't shoot themselves in the foot. I still enjoyed the movie. I love how they pieced it together with Carpenter's. I only wish the studio had let them just make the movie they wanted to make. Everyone would've been much happier with the results.
Ad Astra (2019)
Don't listen to the geeks reviews here.
Just allow the movie to tell the story and judge for yourself. Not a Sci-Fi thriller. Just watch the damn movie and don't listen to a bunch of imbeciles that got their panties in a bunch over Jar Jar Binks.
Brightburn (2019)
An interesting take on the Superman story.
Don't listen to negative reviews here and judge for yourself. Take the "Superman as a villain" with a grain of salt. You know the basic story, now just let the movie take it from there. A prepubescent super alien with the attitude and angst of a prepubescent human teen. Entertaining and some good scares.
Drunk History (2013)
Hilarious
Let me assure you, as you read through these reviews, those that rated this series low have no sense of humor whatsoever. They think they know what they're talking about, they don't. This series is absolutely hilarious. Those that gave this bad reviews are certainly taking things far too seriously. The condescending, pretentious, asinine reviews some gave are utterly ridiculous; and an exercise in douchebaggery. Do not believe the d-bags and the pompous brit reviews. Judge for yourself. Sit back with a drink and enjoy this truly funny take on history.
Angie Tribeca (2016)
Hilarious!
A nearly carbon copy of the unfortunately short lived series Police Squad, and i mean that in the best possible way. Wonderfully ridiculous, if you don't laugh, there's something wrong with you! One reviewer here (who obviously fancies them self a Rhodes Scholar) insultingly commented in a pretentious, condescending way that this was a show suited only to those with a low IQ. I assure you it's just the opposite. Witty & silly all at the same time, for smart people with a great sense of humor. Created by Steve Carell & his wife Nancy, this show is hilarious and easy to jump into. They say laughter is the best medicine, Angie Tribeca is my prescription.
The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day (2009)
Absolutely horrible!
This has to be the worst sequel to what was an amazing movie. The fact that people who claim to be fans of the original like this movie baffles me. Troy Duffy must have been on drugs or something! I am so disappointed. I will make sure people steer clear of this movie, spend that two hours doing anything other than watching this lump of dung. How can you possibly tell me this movie is good? Seriously? Troy, what the F#@& were you thinking?! The incredibly weak attempts at comedy, the totally sub par acting. Didn't you watch the the film? This is a sequel for morons, it is the only person this crap would appeal to. Just a complete waste of time.
Session 9 (2001)
Brilliance
This movie is fantastic! Dark and incredibly creepy, it left me thinking about it the entire next day. I couldn't tell enough people about it, and watched it again as soon as I got home. Very rarely does a film feel like this, you are genuinely scared. The problems that people have with this movie are totally ridiculous! They need more for some reason. Why do you want to know the mother and child better or they were unhappy with the ending..WHAT?! WHY?! This film gives you everything you need and no more to follow it. Session 9 is wasted on these people. It is a truly scary work of art. For those of you who've not seen this film yet, just sit back and try not to over think everything. It will lead you down a dark, frightening, brilliant path.
