Hanson: Tulsa, Tokyo, & the Middle of Nowhere (1997)
I loved it when I was twelve...
...Oh the memories...I got this video for Christmas when I was eleven or twelve, and I was obsessed with Hanson (Zac was my favorite). And I watched it a couple days ago, and I laughed so much. It was just so full of memories for me--of when I had my walls plastered in Hanson posters and when I truly and absolutely believed that Zac would marry me one day.
Anybody who isn't stuck-up and whiny about the bubble-gum pop that drowned our senses in the late 90's should appreciate this video for its nostalgic value.
Student Seduction (2003)
It could have been better!
"Student Seduction" was an inadequate portrayal of a teacher caught in the fantasies of a student. The acting of the two main characters, Christie Dawson (Elizabeth Berkley) and Josh Gaines (Corey Sevier), was very well done, and I applaud their effort. However, the film was almost unbelievable.
What I didn't like was the long sex scenes. There were a couple key scenes that were cut short and leaving you wondering what just happened and confused because the actions weren't fully explained. Instead of elaborating these short, key scenes, the editors chose to keep the ridiculously long sex scenes with no purpose. I understand the entertainment value, but come on! If you need a sex scene that much, that you have to have important scenes cut short, then you need to re-evaluate the entire premise of the movie!
All in all, I applaud the two main actors, but I am criticizing everything else.
Too Young to Be a Dad (2002)
A unique portrayal of teen pregnancy
Oh no, another made-for-TV movie about teen pregnancy...where's the remote? That's what I said when I first flipped the channel to Lifetime and "Too Young to be a Dad" was on. But since nothing else was on, I decided to watch it. And I'm glad that I did.
This movie was put a great, new twist on teen pregnancy. After Matt, a 15 year old boy, has sex with Francesca (another 15 year old), he learns that she's pregnant. Usually, films focus on the girl, but this movie chose not to. Instead, it focuses on Matt, the boy, for a change. It's a refreshing new movie about a boy who's "Too Young to be a Dad".
For My Daughter's Honor (1996)
This movie will be on Lifetime Movie Sundays for years to come...
***SPOILERS*** ***SPOILERS*** When you watch this movie, you are torn between thinking it's not worth your time, and feeling outraged for the young teen Amy, who gets caught up in an affair with the head football coach, Nash. It starts off as "innocent" flirtation, then into a full affair, with Nash getting insanely jealous and manipulating Amy into doing things that no teenager should ever have to do with their teacher. It seems that everyone in town knows about the two of them, however they all act as if it's completely normal. Finally, Amy's parents find out and contact the police. Once Nash is put away, the entire town acts as though it's Amy's fault. The ending leaves something to be desired, but overall this movie is one of the better Lifetime Sunday movies.
