Encanto (2021)
10/10 family movie with Oscar worthy music.
Story: Unique, compelling, humorous yet serious. Relatable characters for lots.
Looks: Incredibly beautiful.
Music: Oscar worthy. "We don't talk about Bruno" is probably the best song ever written for an animated show. Lin Manuel Miranda fans will instantly make connections to "Non Stop" and "96.000". Just amazing. And the other songs such as "Dos Oruguitas" and "Surface Pressure" are still really great.
Family movie? Absolutely. Every family member will enjoy this, no matter the age.
It's a must watch.
El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019)
Nice sendoff for Jesse, but has its' flaws
It was overall a good movie and it's nice to see that someone got the ending he deserved (tbf we all knew he was gonna end up in Alaska). The camera work and the shots were very Breaking Bad and hence fantastic, aswell as the acting.
Overall it was too predictable and therefore felt very slow in a lot of moments in my opinion. I also miss the conclusions to Badger and skinny Pete. The flashbacks were decent, but didn't feel necessary enough to be included or that long. Jesse Plemons looked very different compared to Breaking Bad, but I can live with that.
The worst scene is the Western duel. People shooting at each other from 6 feet and can't hit with a single shot. That feels way too constructed and unbelievable.
Still overall a good movie, but I was hoping for something that grabbed me more.
The Walking Dead: Adaptation (2019)
Why begging to be killed?
Why would any human being pretend to be a zombie so it's a target for everyone? I really don't get it. I thought it was a terribly bad concept in the last season, but this bridge scene was plainly stupid. I know they exist in the comics, but this is really not the most eloquent behaviour. hard to keep interest when stupid decisions are made in movies/series. well ... twd has a reputation for stupid stuff.
The whole Daryl/Whisperer Girl/Henry scene was a shame. Looked like a weirdly executed good cop/bad cop situation, but ... well ... wasn't.
This series has some great actors (negan, rick, michonne ...) and has awful writers that make some actors seem like they've never been in a play before. Its' mediocrity altogether is beyond comparison. Still barely watchable.
I don't think it'll last long.
The Walking Dead: Who Are You Now? (2018)
it's neither 1/10 nor 10/10
This shows' strengths are mostly the good main actors and the cinematography and it always lacked in writing. E.g. someone walking backwards into a room, or people holding a huge 10t log with 3 people.
This episode is pretty good for a Walking Dead episode. If you managed to watch this far, you will probably enjoy it. Although a lot of the story feels artificial it is watchable.
You (all of you!!! :-p) should stop with the 1/10 and 10/10 ratings, just because a show is rated too poorly or too good in your opinion. just let the masses speak. that does not diminish your opinion of a show. Just rate it as you would.
Yes, "The "Walking Dead" has its' cheesy moments, but it's still watchable and enjoyable.
The Walking Dead: The Obliged (2018)
one of the best TWD episodes
The acting is great, the camera work is mediocre as always, the story has its flaws.
I am not a reader of the comics, I only come for the entertainment value. It can't compare itself to the best running shows in terms of character development, or production. It often looks like a low budget flick like "sharknado", but I guess that's what the main audience wants.
This episode was basically a portrait of the entire series. showing the weaknesses in writing and effects (when down in that pit especially) and showing its soap opera like character developments. Still one is engaged into the story, since it's well acted. It's the one show that I can easily live without but watch when there's nothing else to do.
this is a soap opera horror show with a little fun.
6/10 for the "best" episode - if you don't like soap opera fun horror shows. this is nothing for you!
The Walking Dead (2010)
This is what happens when you give most of the money to the actors
Don't get me wrong, the actors are mostly good. But an actor can only shine with the right script and the right director. This show lacks quality in a lot of minor but important areas. it's still entertaining, but it lacks a lot of quality compared to other shows. this show is very mediocre and I guess it's not aiming to be a sophisticated show. so it is that it is: a 6.5/10
Den of Thieves (2018)
An action movie that is lacking debth
If only this movie had some debth to it ... directing looked good, but the characters lacked debth. no through line. the movie felt like it wanted to be a mixture between oceans 11 and GTA V, yet failed in the writing. not one character had background, no motives, nothing. just place a few bad guys and a few bad good guys all around add 1 goofy stereotype and lets begin! the dialogue was poor and cheap. what saves this poorly written movie from a devastating rating are the guys behing the camera.
Moana (2016)
The Avatar of Animated Films
This Film looks incredibly beautiful!
In the first ~5 minutes I teared up!
The score is beautiful, the songs (You can really feel the participation of Lin Manuel Miranda!), the animations and it's all very authentic! I loved this movie.
The comparison to Avatar comes easily, because the only thing this movie is missing is a complex story, still the storytelling is fantastic! I can promise you, whoever you are, you will love this! It's beautiful in every way!
The Oscar nominations are absolutely deserved and I can only hope they'll get at least 1 (Best animated film/best original song)!
The humor was cute and subtly done, and got me laughing a few times! go watch it, you won't regret it!
Hail, Caesar! (2016)
terrible try to make a fun movie
this crappy movie could be summed up in 4 sentences, yet somehow one needs to write more. so this is me writing a review for this movie, which probably takes more time, than the writers had to sacrifice on its script. thank god I save my writing time by not watching the end of this "movie".
I rarely hate on movies, but this one deserves to be hated upon. I watched it for 9 hours straight! After that I checked my watch and realized I was just 46 minutes in! This movie compares to Movie 43 quite well, because its summary reads: if you watch for 30 minutes you might turn mental. - hence I put 2/10 instead of 1.
Game of Thrones: The Winds of Winter (2016)
Best Episode out of the last 2 seasons!
Damn this episode was fun, shocking and intense! I do love game of thrones and for me a lot of episodes should earn a clear 10/10 but this one truly deserved it.
The first ~15 minutes were awesome. I loved the cuts, loved the artwork and loved the music. I don't even know why I am writing this recommendation; because clearly you have watched this series and this great episode.
Together with "the climb", "the rains of castamere", "the lion and the rose" and "the mountain and the viper" this was one of the best episodes ever! Loved it!
