I enjoyed very much this excursion in the Bordelais: beautiful landscapes and nice encounters.
There are som interesting aspects of this region: the most visited vineyard of France-4.300.000 visitors each year-( the new touristic activities, the Château Rayne-Vigneau, the horseback riding through the vineyard and the suspended table in a tree for the wine tasting, Antoine Beucher and the "Wine Cab" tour, the wine worshop- how to combine cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon and merlot for making his own bottle of wine, Sylvaine Fournier and her gusthouse-huge barrels-), the Marathon du Médoc (created in 1984, the stop at Château Phelan-Segur for tasting wine and thestop at the oysters and white wine stand), the "châteaux" (the abandoned castle of Boudinet -Nathalie Escudero and Jérôme Lepoirier, the Chinese buyers-Hugo Tian and the Château Fauchey, the real estate agent Krin Maxwell speaking about the foreigners buying "châteaux" in the Bordelais, the modern cellar of the Château La Dominique built by the architect Jean Nouvel), the wine trade ( the "courtiers en vin Hugo Lucas and François Leveque, the organic vineyard at Saint-Emilion, the wine taster Bernard Burtschy, the graphic designer Stéphanie Javel and the labels for the Bordeaux wines), the women in the wine making ( the cellar master Véronique Corporandy at Château Soutard, the cellar master Valérie Labrousse at the Château du Payre-the women managing the estate during the World War two-, now the increase of female sommelier like Syrielle Palacios who prose wines to the clints of the restaurants) and the harvest of the grapes (the bagpipe music and the festival of the beginning of the harvest at Saint-Emilion- the brotherhood called la Jurade, Gwendeline Lucas and the supervision of the harvest in the Château La Dominique, Olivier and Dominique Techer and the harvest in the Château Gombaude-Guillot).
I enjoyed the encounters of Jérôme Pitorin with the balloonist Stéphane Defraine, with the wine maker and balloonist François Pont, with the tuk-tuk driver Mélodie Garcia, with the barrel roller Eric Berry, with the photographer Brice Braastad, with the boat captain Guillaume de Mecquenem, with the lighthouse keepers Sarah and Maryan, with Nicolas Audebert, with Charlotte Dominique, with the pastry chef Luc Dorin and the Brotherhood of the Canelé, with the sommelier Elodie at the Cité du Vin, with the manager of the wine store Laurent Dumesny, with the chef Adrien Ferran, with the caricaturistMika, with the sommelier Julien, with Florence Cathiard and with the cellar master Yann Ludeho Leroy; nice encounters with very kind French men and women.
