Final Fight Guy (1992)
Not much different, but still worth checking out.
This is the same thing as the SNES version of Final Fight, only Cody has been replaced with Guy. There are also some extra power ups, and some other stuff. If your gonna get this one, get the japanese version. It was released in the US, but only available for rental via Blockbuster, and they took the two girl enemies out again and changed two of the bosses' names. So get the japanese version, because they didn't change the bosses' names or take out the two girl enemies, but if you're getting this version, MAKE SURE it comes with the Special CD. The Special CD is an audio CD with 4 playable tracks that are revised versions of Final Fight tunes by the Alfh Lyra sound team. They are really good. The 2nd track is a medley track. MAKE SURE IT COMES WITH THE SPECIAL CD. The Special CD was only included with the japanese edition. If you don't care about the CD, just get this game if you own a SNES, and are ANXIOUS to play as Guy, but if you're not that anxious, then let it go.
Sutoraidâ Hiryô (1989)
LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!!!!
This is one of the best games ever made! It's exciting, it's got great action, awesome music courtesy of Junko Tamiya (Bionic Commando), and you got a really cool main character! Nothing beats the arcade original. I've beaten it so many times, I can beat the PlayStation version in under 20 minutes! I DEFINATELY recommend this game, but you need to get the Genesis version, or the PSOne version that's included as a bonus disc with Strider 2, because they are the best non-arcade versions you can get!!!
Tenchi wo Kurau (1989)
Strange, but fun action game.
I've never played the actual arcade machine of "Dynasty Wars", I've only played it on Winkawaks and MAME. I haven't seen it at any arcades, so it probably didn't do that well when it came out. Anyway, this game is based on Hiroshi Motomiya's "Tenchi Wo Kurau" manga, which takes place during ancient china. You're character(s) ride around on a horse and slash at various enemies. There are four characters to choose from Shang Fei, Liu Bei (I always pick him, 'cause he's my favorite), Kuan Yu, and Shao Yun. It's got good music and graphics in it. The US version has one flaw though:The voice acting's REALLY bad. It just sounds like one guy trying to do all the voices. And the noise it makes when you charge up your sword, fire a shot from the charged up sword, and do a rapid slash sounds like hyena. However, the voices in the Japanese one are more suitable. Needless to say, they're Japanese, but at least they don't sound as corny as the ones in the US version. But aside from all that, this is a good game. I've beaten it five times. Capcom made four other games based on the "Tenchi Wo Kurau" manga: A nintendo game called "Destiny Of An Emperor", which is probally the most recognizable of the series, another arcade game called "Warriors Of Fate", which is more like "Final Fight", a Game Boy game that wasn't released in the US, and a Super Famicom game that also wasn't released in the US. I don't know much about the manga though. How old is it? Was it translated into english? Anyway, I haven't seen Dynasty Wars in any arcades, and for that matter, I haven't seen Warriors of Fate either. But if you see either one of them, give em a try.
Street Fighter (1987)
This is where it all began...
This is a total classic! If it weren't for this game, they wouldn't have all these other neat fighting games that we have today. I posted something in a message board one time saying they should re-release this on GBA, and one person said "No it sucks", and another said "Nah, SF1 was bad. SF2 was what started the craze!" They're both wrong! This is the game that started the whole Capcom fighting frenzy. I've beaten this game three times, it's simply one of the greatest Capcom games I ever played. Ryu and Ken are two young Street Fighters who set out to become Master Champion, they have to face 10 opponents:Joe, Mike, Retsu, Geki, Birdie, Eagle, Lee, Gen, and then finally:Adon and Sagat. Anyone will enjoy this game, it has a lousy ending, but it still makes me happy. If you see this game in arcades, go on and play it! DO NOT be afraid. And I have a message to all the people that hate SF1:Why don't you stop bitching and think about the past! Without SF1, we wouldn't have DarkStalkers (7 years later), and MVC (11 years later). So shut up! Let people enjoy this game!
