Beautiful and incredibly emotional
17 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
One of the best TV series to have come out of Netflix in years. A truly mesmerising love story about a woman who falls in love with a man from completely different cultures and everything that comes with relationships. What they tackle is showcased beautifully in 8 episodes. It follows what it means to have family. What it means to love. What it means to grieve. Wonderfully set in certain scenes, which captures the essence and beauty of Italy in a nutshell. I have travelled to Italy and it captures it perfectly. The timeline is interwoven as each episode's so you really do feel like you're on a journey with these characters. Be warned though, you will need a box of tissues because it's incredibly powerful and emotional. Wonderful acting in particular Zoe Saldana who was outstanding. Highly recommended for a fantastic watch, but be prepared to be engrossed, emotionally attached and touched by what is one of the best TV shows on Netflix. Romantic drama at it's finest. Bellissimo!!!

Fantastic
12 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Extremely well made, slightly drawn out but incredibly intriguing documentary about Author Michael Peterson's wife Death which is looked at in depth during the whole trial as to wether he killed or if it was an accident. In my opinion and i made up my mind in the 1st few episodes that he was guilty as sin. The lack of empathy and lack of emotion in his character is extremely apparent because if you're wife had just fallen and killed herself and you knew this as fact, but we're accused of murdering her, any normal sane person not guilty of this would be almost hysterical throughout. His calm and collected personality and narcissistic traits were very open to see in this documentary. I had no real sympathy for him and I certainly didn't feel he convinced me of his innocence whatsoever. His children are totally blinded by him which is understandable being their dad, but it's bordering on delusional. You just feel none of them cared about their mum who is the victim here. Still, a brilliant documentary and a must watch. Highly recommended.

Top Boy (2011–2023)
10/10
Outstanding
21 March 2022
Easily one of the best British tv shows around. Extremely gritty and realistic series involving black gang culture in London. Initially was taken on by Channel 4, which were made into 2 separate series 1 and 2. Netflix then took the show on and decided to rename the old series Top boy:Summer house and the new Netflix series 1 and 2, although theoretically Netflix took the series on as series 3 and 4. The series goes up a new level though after the Netflix introduction. I have just finished the new season 4 and it's absolutely outstanding. It's as good as the last and extremely binge worthy. You literally won't stop watching. Highly recommended. The acting is on point, tension as high as ever, storyline flowing wonderfully. Brilliant show.

Outstanding Italian Mafia series
2 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Easily up there with the best crime shows of all time and I'm going into The Soprano's and breaking bad territory here because it's certainly not far off. It follows the Cosa Nostra ( Mafia ) set in Naples, Italy and it showcases the truly gritty and dark side of the sort of life in downtown Naples. It's depressing at times and very dark, but the show flows wonderfully introducing outstanding characters, notably Genaro and Ciro who we grow to love throughout. They are 2 anti hero's, but due to how well written this show is, you can't help but feel for these characters. Outstanding television and easily as good as anything the Americans deliver. A brilliant Italian production well worth watching.

Pure raw emotion
21 December 2021
An incredible end to what is an outstanding TV series from Shane meadows. If you haven't seen This is England, then please start off by watching the This is England film, then follow that up with the This is England 86,88 and 90 mini series which I am reviewing now. I don't think I have ever seen a TV series with such a profound impact in relation to the outstanding acting on show here. It is full of pure raw emotion and every character plays a massive role throughout this series. Every character has a particular stand out scene, due to how fantastic Shane Meadows utilises these actors. Bearing In mind, you will have to see the film first as the series carries on after the films events and the plot interweaves with the important plots of the film. I have seen some truly terrific shows like The Sopranos and Breaking bad etc, but this is by far the best British tv series of all time and is certainly up there amongst the best in general. If you don't cry in certain scenes, you have no emotion whatsoever. It will take you on a emotional rollercoaster, but it's so worth it because you are witnessing some of the finest pieces of acting on film. Highly recommended, but extremely bleak and depressing at times too. If you can get passed that, then you are going to thoroughly enjoy this masterpiece.

Amazing for babies/ children
4 December 2021
If you have a child or baby, then try get them watching Little baby bums. My 7 month old boy is literally obsessed with this. The moment the Netflix sign comes on and the little baby bums screen, he squeals with excitement. It's incredibly cute too see and a nice feeling seeing my boy happy and content watching his favourite show. We try and limit his TV watching, as you obviously don't want you're child being dependent on TV, but every now and then is fine. It keeps my boy content and he loves the songs, so in my opinion, the show is doing what it's supposed to do. Best kids show by far and better than CocoMelon.

Blade II (2002)
9/10
Highly underrated
13 November 2021
Not too sure why this excellent sequel has such a low score on IMDb. It's a fantastically paced, well developed and brilliant CGi action horror movie. It follows on from the original, but this one involves Blade now teaming up with a group of vampires to fight a new hybrid breed of vampire, that are a threat too all of humanity and the vampire race. It has humour just like the first one, but also the character development is excellent due to the 2 hour movie length which is about right for a movie like this. It's very enjoyable and I saw it a number of times years ago, but upon watching again recently, I must say it's definitely ahead of its time. It was made in 2002, and you would think it was only made recently such is the excellent CGI and affects. Highly recommended sequel in which sequels in the movie industry are rarely decent.

Brassic (2019– )

Awesome
10 November 2021
A brilliant TV show featuring Joe Gilgun who plays Vinnie to absolute perfection. If anyone has seen him in the "This is England" series, you will know he's a tremendous actor. Brassic isn't as dark as the series mentioned, but equally as good in its own way. Vinnie and his friends are basically a group of lovable thieves that get themselves into all sorts of misadventures in each episode, usually resulting in carnage occurring between the group and very funny situations they find themselves in. Whilst it's a comedy, it does also have a lot of heart and the acting is spot on. It's a short series with only 8 episodes filling a season, but it's extremely enjoyable and one of the best British TV shows in years. Highly recommended if you love British humour, notably northern humour where the series is based. Throughly looking forward too season 4.

Extremely underrated
2 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I have to say, this film suffers from having a bad reputation, simply because it is completely different to the usual Halloween franchise. It doesn't have Michael Myers in it and apart from the characters watching Halloween on the TV, it doesn't really have any relevance to the Halloween films, so it's a bit strange that it's called "Halloween 3", as I personally feel as a stand alone film, it wouldn't have the negative reaction it received. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and it was actually pretty disturbing In parts. It follows a corporation that makes Halloween kids masks, but have a sinister plan and reason behind it. They plan to sacrifice the children that Don these masks in an ancient ritual, so the motives behind this act are from an old age cult like ritual being implemented by the main antagonist. An excellent stand alone horror film in my views if you can ignore the fact it's called Halloween 3.

Season 3 brings it up a new level
27 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The 1st 2 seasons are very good and set the tone for what is an incredibly dark TV series in a very similar vain to Dexter. Season 3 though ups the level in what is a truly fantastic Tv series in which Jo, the main character is played to absolute perfection by Penn Badgely and is the heartbeat of this series. He's a psychotic killer, who develops obsessions with various women he stalks and becomes obsessed with them being the one, hence the name "You". Characters are introduced throughout each season and it develops wonderfully. You are completely engrossed on what happens next and the series is fantastically written. Series 3 was outstanding, and I personally thought it put the series from a 8/10 to a 9/10 on this season alone. It's Dexter with a twist. Dark, intriguing and delicious. Highly recommended.

Strangely addictive
22 October 2021
I totally understand the majority of reviews complaining about the hosts way OTT excitable nature, but it's honestly a really easy watch and an addictive show. Don't get me wrong, some of the locations are far too expensive for your normal average Jo, but for someone like me who's a passionate traveller and loves seeing the world, it certainly inspires you and makes you want to travel more. I was pausing it, Googling quiet a few places a number of times. It's nothing ground breaking and the hosts are a little annoying, but for some of the locations being so spectacular, it's well worth a watch.

Squid Game (2021– )
10/10
Outstanding
20 October 2021
First off, if you are starting this show, please give it the respect it deserves and watch the original Korean version with the English subtitles. A lot of people can be incredibly lazy when it comes to foreign films/TV shows. Avoid the American dubbed version like the plague. Now, onto the shoe itself which was an absolute blast from start to finish. Believe the hype, it genuinely is that brilliant and the acting is on point. The characters are very well developed and you start to grow to like certain characters as the series unfolds. It's over the top violence and a little far fetched, but you are watching a TV series for entertainment, not to be educated. For all the 1* reviews. Ignore them. These are people that deliberately don't rate a show because it's popular and trend. Yes, it can be annoying when a show suddenly becomes huge and everyone jumps on the bandwagon, but don't let that put you off. It's one of the best series Netflix has produced in years. Highly recommended.

A Soprano fans dream
24 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
If you are not a Sopranos fan or someone that has watched the series the whole way, then you will never truly appreciate this movie. This is the one us Soprano fans have been waiting for and boy it didn't disappoint. This feature length prequel to the series is based mostly on Dickie Moltisante ( Christopher's father ) who we hear a lot about in the series. If you are thinking the films all about Tony Soprano, then you will be left disappointed. Of course Tony soprano features in it, played brilliantly by James Gandolfni's real son in his teen yesrs, but this is the rise of Tony soprano and where he got his influence from. You hear him mention Dickie as a legend in the series and this feature length film shows the backdrop to that story. What I loved the most was the younger versions of the characters we adore in the series. Silvio and Uncle Junior in particular played to perfection with all the mannerisms and phrases acted out brilliantly. Pauline , Big Pussy etc all make appearances. References to the series and certain relevant scenes which only Sopranos fans would truly appreciate are also implemented brilliantly. The 2 hours flew by for me, as I was in awe the whole time. Judging by the end, there will definitely be a sequel which I am thoroughly looking forward too. If you are a big Sopranos fan, you won't be left disappointed.

Warning: Spoilers
I have watched numerous 9/11 documentaries and each one shocks me too the core. No matter how many times you relive that memory, you will always remember where you were during that fateful day regardless of what part of the world you are from. We all lived and breathed it. We all felt for those poor souls that lost their lives in this horrible tragedy. We all grieve for the families. This 6 Part documentary is a timeline guide of those events told through various witnesses and key survivors. It's played in real time footage which adds to the extraordinary tension. Regardless of what you know of the event, your heart is pounding the whole way through. It's emotional hearing the stories and you will 100% shed a few tears as the survivors dissect each and everyone of their own version of the atrocity unfolding. A truly heartbreaking, but masterpiece in film making of a truly horrendous monster act. If there's one 9/11 documentary you need too sit and watch, then put this national geographic masterpiece on. I promise you won't regret it.

Your Honor (II) (2020–2023)

Absolutely fantastic
9 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
When I initially saw this show was airing, I was immediately drawn to it due to the brilliance of Bryan Cranston. This guy could turn dust to gold, he's a truly spectacular actor. But, upon reading some of the reviews, I got a slight hint of disappointment due to the negativity coming out, but boy am I glad I didn't listen to the critics. What a truly gripping and fantastically addictive new TV show this is. Does it have plot holes at times ? Of course. Is the kid one annoying brat making stupid decision after decision? No doubt. But, we watch TV shows to grip and entertain us. We watch shows that evolve and engross you into a story. We feel for the characters. This show does exactly that and it's truly magnificent stuff. I wait in anticipation after every episode, as I desperately want to find out what happens next. That for me means it's a quality TV show. Don't listen to the negativity, this is crime drama at its finest. It's got a slight hint of breaking bad, Ozark etc, but on a different level. If you enjoy these sort of shows, you will enjoy your honour. Fantastic.

Interesting story - horrendous internet sleuths
5 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I totally concur with the vast majority of viewers on here in that the internet sleuths in this documentary not only ruined the documentary itself, but most importantly they nearly ruined the case and nearly cost an innocent man his life due to what can only be described as internet bullying. Why haven't these individuals been bought to justice for this? If you bullied a person in the physical world for no reason, which resulted in that individual trying to commit suicide, you would would be punished and too right. This was no different and no apology was made to "Morbid" in relation to this. Disgusting. Onto the documentary itself which is based on the unfortunate case of Elisa Lam who was found dead in the water tanks at the top of the Cecil Hotel in LA. Elisa suffered from very severe Bi polar disorder which was a huge contributing factor to her death and this documentary tries to piece together wether foul play was at hand. From the get go, it doesn't take Albert Einstein to recognise that she was clearly in a state of a severe episode of her Bi polar disorder at the time and evidence after this from family members prove she suffered with these episodes. What we have though is a bunch fake "detectives" in these internet sleuths that have set up a community trying to dissect the case piece by piece. Some of the stuff they come out with is so laughable, you wouldn't be surprised to see them try to convince us that Aliens come from out of space and teleported Elisa into the water tanks. Whilst they want to portray this notion that they know Elisa spirituality and are hoping for justice, it's just an endless cycle of a bunch of egotistical maniacs looking for a bit of fame and pretending they knew an individual. The way they carry themselves in this documentary is nothing short of pathetic and as stated above, nearly cost an innocent man his life. The 1st 2 episodes are interesting. The last 2 will make you angry and want to get justice for "Morbid". Watch with caution because it will wind you up

Bone Tomahawk (2015)

Excellent Western horror
19 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A very original, but equally strange film due to the director going for the duel genre, which isn't done often, but when done correctly, it works like a dream. This film is an excellent western in its own right, but absolutely brutal in its horror elements that due to its nature, will reflect why certain people might not appreciate it initially. It starts off very quickly and you kind of know the sort of brutality you are in for, but this isn't a horror film in the sense of slasher elements from start to finish. Instead it introduces the characters brilliantly and follows their quest to find the kidnapped wife of one of the men, who has been taken by a bunch of cannibals. We are slowly involved in their hunt for the caves where these kidnappers live, but on route as with every western, they meet characters and all sorts of obstacles which are stopping them from achieving their mission. It has a stellar cast with Kurt Russell leading the pack and he is in brilliant form as per usual. A brutal, but excellent horror western that is well worth the watch. Keep with it, be patient and be gobsmacked by the extremely violent climax.

The Godfather (1972)
10/10
Greatest movie of all time
6 January 2021
What more can be said that already has on this utter masterpiece of a movie. Along with part 2, these are my favourite films of all time and I personally don't think there will ever be a movie that will surpass these stunning pieces of work. Let's start with part 1, The Godfather. An outstanding achievement in American cinema following Mario Puzo's novel of the same name, Francis F Coppola directs and achieved such a stunning piece of work, it's pretty much as close to perfection as a movie can get. It follows the story of an Italian American crime family, and is based on the real life Five families of New York City during this era, but is superbly paced and developed in such stunning fashion, you literally feel you are there with them in the screen. The character development is outstanding and we grow to love these characters like they are own family. The cinematography world class and still hasn't been beaten to this day. Who can ever forget the beautiful brown contrast colours that dominate when you are engrossed in this piece of art. The music without saying is up there amongst the finest piece in movie history. It's a film that still holds up, despite it being made nearly 50 years ago. It put actors like Al Pacino on the map to true stardom. If you haven't seen the Godfather then you clearly don't appreciate good movies. The greatest film of all time.

Cobra Kai (2018–2025)
10/10
Absolutely superb
6 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
As a huge fan of the Karate Kid movies during my childhood, when I initially saw Cobra Kai was coming out and based on that films, I didn't really expect much, as I just felt it would be a cheap rip off and a director trying to cash in on the film's popularity. I literally couldn't of been more wrong. Not only does Cobra Kai wonderfully play homage to the films in true 80 fashion, but the new characters are weaved together brilliantly and superbly developed. Let's not forget the characters all from the original and beyond making an appearance throughout or briefly, but it's used in such a way that I have never witnessed nostalgia used so well in any movie or series. The Director must of been the biggest Karate Kid fan ever because he is literally casting characters at precisely the perfect time and bringing back individuals we grew to love, but doing it in a way where it feels right. The series is a mixture of comedy, corny acting and excellent fight scenes, which is exactly what the films were. It doesn't steer clear from anything that the films delivered and it does it on a grand scale. 3 seasons of pure brilliance have flown by and I truly can't wait for season 4. Terry Silva making an appearance will add to the already impressive cast and comebacks. Fantastic, Cobra Kai never dies!!!!

Fantastic
1 January 2021
What a blast of a movie. How the hell can anyone rate this movie a 1 star is beyond me. With Bad Boys and a film of its nature, you just know what you are getting. Great chemistry between Will Smith and Martin Lawrence again. Excellent explosive action and slapstick comedy with cheap gags. This isn't ever going to be an Oscar winner film in the mould of The Godfather, so what are people expecting ? Fantastically set in Miami like the previous films and a brilliant storyline to boot. I thought the mixture of comedy, drama and action was spot on. The villains in the movie we're excellent and it's a 2 hour film that flowed wonderfully. You go into these sort of movies to be entertained and gripped. Well, this movie does what it says on a tin and gives the viewer the elements of an excellent action comedy. As good, if not better than the 1st 2. Highly enjoyable.

Best Xmas movie ever
25 December 2020
My personal favourite Xmas movie of all time. There are some truly fabulous Xmas films I will always cherish like Home Alone 1, National Lampoons, Groundhog Day, Die Hard ( yes it's a Christmas movie ;) etc etc, but Home Alone 2 Lost in New York will forever be my all time greatest. The whole nostalgia, setting in New York and magical Christmas feeling is blended perfectly together in what is virtually the same film as the 1st, but done in a slightly different way. Everybody knows what the Home Alone films are about, so I won't delve into the storyline, but it's a film I always come back to. Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern are in true fantastic form as usual. The traps are better. The humour sharper. Wonderful Christmas movie. Merry Xmas you filthy animals!!!!

Superb
4 December 2020
Saw this come up and decided to give it a try and boy am I glad I started this show. It's like a cross between Breaking bad and Ozark, with slight dark humour sandwiched Inbetween (no pun intended). Ray, the main character is fascinating and played wonderfully by the lead, is a hitman for the mob, but at the same time is a family man to his young daughter. He tries to balance both his hitman lifestyle and caring for his daughter and friend. It's Just brilliantly written and the acting is on point. The only slight issue I have is the episodes are so short at 30 mins. You are engrossed, then quick as a flash the episode ends. Don't be put off by this though, it's the best series to come out of Australia, outstanding.

Makes a mockery of the name
28 November 2020
I'm sorry, but how can you take the name of 2 stunning films. Once Upon a time in the West is one of the greatest Westerns of all time and Once upon a time in America is one of the greatest gangster films of all time, along with The Godfather. This rubbish is not even in the same stratosphere. It's a gangster film that pretends to be cool, expect it's just full of scenes of over the top violence without any meaning or structure. It has no substance, no real character development and no heart. I'm one for certain British gangster films if done right. Gangster No.1 excellent. Guy Ritchies Snatch, superb. Rise of the foot soldier, gritty. This really was a film pretending to be a carbon copy of the brilliant American version of the same name, expect this film doesn't touch it with a barge pole. I gave up halfway because I couldn't stand it anymore. Simply one of the most awful gangster films I have ever seen.

Doctor Sleep (2019)

Outstanding
14 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Dark, disturbing and a truly brilliant adaption from Mike Flanagan, who's beginning to develop a reputation as one of the best horror directors around. It's a sequel to the superb masterpiece The Shining and based once again on the Stephen King novel. It features the now adult Danny Torrance played brilliantly by Ewan Mcgregror. Whilst, this film is very different to The Shining, it does provide some excellent nostalgic moments and throwbacks to the original, which is done superbly by the director. It's a different take on the 1st film though, so if you go into this film with that mindset, you will truly appreciate what Flanagan is trying to achieve her. Shout out to Rebecca Ferguson who plays the main villain in the movie and is absolutely terrifying as The hat. A truly mesmerising performance, but equally terrifying to boot. She nails that role and despite her beautiful looks, it actually really works. All in all, a brilliant horror movie, with a touch of nostalgic undertones and an excellent cast make this a really good standalone film, let alone a sequel. Highly recommended to any fan of The Shining.

Sausage Party (2016)
10/10
Clever, crude and superb
13 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
3rd time viewing this and gets funnier every time. It's crude, rude and bizarre, but it's an incredibly clever and well made adult animated comedy. It's mostly based in a supermarket, where all the ingredients come to life and are all vying to get to the "great beyond" which is supposedly heaven for them. This is where the shoppers pick up the ingredients and take them home. It follows the story of each character trying to figure out the truth and the real reasoning as to why the ingredients are taken away, but the result is a hilarious comedy full of crude jokes, swearing galore and superb hidden messages galore. The story is excellent. The characters fantastic and it's just so witty full of pop culture. If you blink, you will miss some of the intelligent and subtle comparisons to real life. It really is brilliant viewing. Kick back, chill and get ready to laugh out loud. If you went an Oscar winner, then Sausage Party isn't the film, but if you want a film to make you laugh, then this one is highly recommended
