Castlevania: Nocturne (2023)
Potential!!!
So I watched this in one night and then I read the reviews and now I'm writing my own.
When I saw this trailer first I was skeptical beacause I wasn't sure if they could live up to the past glory of the predecessor series and while I find some of my fellow reviewers comments to be valid they are some that are just utter rubbish.
Were there holes in the writing, probably but this is a problem that can be fixed as far as I'm concerned, Ritcher has potential, and for everyone who's mad that Ritcher was sidelined in favor of a black characters, I'm really not sure what to do with you, yes it would be nice if the main character was specified and stuck with and given all these wonderful character traits that you can just see the noble brimming from within but that would fall flat because this is not utopia the main character can't always just be one person stacked in front of view, this is a revolving door, we're watching how this people grow, change make their decision that influence those around them. When a character can be the worst and still come back to being a little bit better cause it's a human journey.
Then was the race thing, I don't know if the people so touchy about this are actual black,or coloured people or white just disgruntled that their game world has been taken from them, either way I find it cringe worthy that the only reason some people complained of Belmont's 'stolen spotlight' was because it was a black slave girl.
Moving on the night creatures, now I won't claim complete knowledge because I'm not the writer but some people don't understand why some of them are capable of talking, I hope this help, from what I've seen the night creatures are made by a transformation of the dead, but this night creatures seemed to have preserved theirs, maybe their souls were too bound to this world( a theory prevalent in some cultures), maybe they had unfinished business, that for us to find out in the next season.
Lastly my advice to those watching would be don't watch with the lens of Trevor Belmont, he was a jaded character, morally ambiguous some days and fatally heroic on others but we loved him anyway. Ritcher is coming from a different place, so his experiences are going to be different.
All in all I loved this series, because it has potential, the WAG strike may have been the reason some things felt too rushed but if it's renewed I have no doubt we'd have a lot to mine from this new characters.
To Netflix management please please, we all love making money but I think you guys should let your writers work on this properly without breathing down their neck, your viewers deserve masterpieces.

Lovely drama
I just finished the drama for the second time in a few years interval and I have to say I'm still in love. I'm older now and can understand more of the concepts that I ignored for handsome male leads and the love story when I was fifteen. This was an impactful drama which is what movies should be about, they should teach you and engage all your emotions be it joy, sorrow, mirth or incredulity and this did just that. I empathized with Lee Yeongo, cheered when he started learning to feel even if it was just a little, felt sad and understood Dr Hyeon moral delimma.
I'm sad it ended with fourteen episode but I will definitely watch it again and I hope someone else gives it a chance and falls in love like I did.

IWTV
This is an amazing show, so amazing that I wished I hadn't watched it so early so I could avoid the agonizing wait for S2. I'm a novelist myself and can wholeheartedly applaud Rolin Jones and the entire team writing and creating this work. They bring out theme's that allow the viewers to be part of the entire process, we can feel for Louis while still berating him, love Lestat while realizing that his actions are not always the best and find Claudia gruesome but understand how she got there. They involved the audience into this moral quandary, which is rare.
For those who are annoyed with the adaptation I have one thing to say, human's should be innovative, test boundaries, how can we make something great if we just exactly copy the blueprint of our ancestors, we're meant to use them as a guide to make our own beautiful creations. Watch this with that in mind, without constantly comparing and you'll find that this story still has the core of Anne Rice in it.
Overall though I highly recommend this.
