Red Herring
4 March 2010
This is not a well made film. It isn't a poorly made film either; it is obviously lower budget though.

This film misses the point; it essentially is a red herring because Super Size me wasn't about gaining or losing weight. It was about what happens when you eat only at McDonald's for a month. It wasn't deductive reasoning wherein the conclusion was in the premise; it did have an obvious conclusion that left little room for debate. I would say this is an experiential pseudo-scientific experiment. The review that gave this a perfect score says he didn't "agree" with the "science" in Super Size Me. That's funny, because I didn't see much science in Super Size Me to agree or disagree with. There was certainly an a priori notion that something negative was going to result from eating nothing but McDonalds; yet it was, mainly, and entertainment piece with an obvious agenda.

This film is full of ridicule, scorn, and vitriol towards Spurlock by setting up a straw man that results in a red herring. No first year health or biology student would miss the real fact that the amount you eat is directly related to the amount you store. The danger of this film is in the direct implication that all food is equal or that food should be thought of as in fundamental elements; blatantly ignoring the importance of quality. This is dogmatic, condescending smoke screen containing just enough basic facts about the fundamentals of food and the human body to keep it from sinking into the rotten pit of arrogant assertions.

Just Enough Tact And Curiosity To Keep It Moving
10 October 2009
I put 10/10 because this information is invaluable. And it's about time a major distributor has taken on such topics. The food industry certainly has it's reasons, especially the almighty dollar, and to be fair I think this movie kept that into perspective. Yet demonetization of these multi-national organizations was inevitable because of the undesirable effects of such gross over production.

The movie was tactful and at times utterly horrifying. To me, this was nothing new. The movie lacked essential information, was riddled with questionable assertions, contained a few logical fallacies, and was completely adulterated with naturalistic philosophy. It also tows the global warming line as well. Aside from it's shortcomings, it is going to be powerful in its own right to those who are new to the subject.

With such backing and credibility, hopefully this can reach those in the darkness. Our modern social climate is inundated with massive propaganda, so much that many have began to seek answers amidst the chaos. To those I hope this is but a small step to a much larger journey. In all assurances, the rabbit hole is much deeper.

A Documentary on Steroids
8 August 2008
Pun intended. As a documentary connoisseur, this ranks among the very best I have ever seen. I was glued to the screen, there was drama, excitement, trials, tribulations, revelations and fun. Don't expect this to be a dry dreary ride on the educational short bus, this is a roller coaster of interesting facts and famous faces. I can't recommend this enough, the main guy lays it all on the line, no holds barred, to diligently seek out truth among the lies, deceit and half truths that abound in our socially phobic culture surrounding Steroids specifically and recreational drugs generally. I highly suspect all but the most bitter of individual to open up and accept this film with great admiration and indulge in the fantastic way it is presented. A very well balanced look into the side effects of being American. 10/10, watch this.

Worst Crap Ever

Warning: Spoilers
Let me take a breath...I really don't know where to start. I visualize in my brain the countless drones that pile out of the movie theaters and think that this movie was worth the ten bucks they paid. It was like fingernails on a chalkboard the way Stephen or whoever misrepresented the Christian religion, it was like I was stuck in a straight jacket with the oxygen supply slowly being cut off. And to think that ignorant people will walk away from the movie and actually believe that is an accurate representation. It should have been called, "Stephen King's Warped View of Reality." And after being subjected to over an hour of ridiculous proselytizing, I am shown what I take to be some sort of shock value ending as if that will erase the whole first hour and fifteen minutes. Was that supposed to be suspenseful? The only suspense I received was wondering what kind of crazy bullsh*t the "christian" was going to do next. And, Oh, how every one cheered when the "christian" got killed. If I wanted to learn about how ridiculous "christians" are, I would have picked up a book by Richard Dawkins. At least he employs something Stephen should look up: Logic.
