Glitter (2001)
Not as bad as people say.
I rented this movie because I wanted to see why everyone hates this movie so much. Well I started watching and saw that the beginning was good. I waited and waited for it turn turn bad but it never did. I kept wondering why people trash this movie. The acting is just fine. Mariah is very good at playing Billie. Although she is playing a character much like herself. Max Beesley isn't that bad. His accent wasn't good but it wasn't worth bashing. The rest of the characters don't have enough screen time to mention. I still can't understand why people don't like this. I give it 7/10.
Valentine (2001)
My favorite slasher movie
When this came out back last February I really wanted to see it. But of course because of its "don't blink or you'll miss it" release I missed it. So for 6 months I waited it for it to be released. It finally came out and I bought it. I wasn't disapointed. This blew every other slasher movie I have ever seen away. The acting was good. The murders were better and the premis was great. Valentine's day is the perfect day to set a horror movie. The morbid valentine's that were sent to the girls were also very good. I liked the costume also. And better yet there was no ending monologue that explained the killer's motive because it was set up in the first five minutes. One thing I didn't like was the scene where the dectective hit on Paige. There are some scenes deleted that would have been better in this movie than that scene. There are two characters that should have have had more screen time, Campbell & Ruthie. I agree with one of the previous comments about how people compare this movie to Scream. The Scream series had been over for a year when this movie came out. Maybe people now will stop. Overall this movie gets 10/10
Urban Legends: Final Cut (2000)
So-so
I did enjoy this movie to some extent. It had a great first murder. It had a great lead girl. A cool chase scene and some jump moments. On the other hand the killer's identity and motive were the worst in any horror movie that I have ever seen. Then I was snatched back with the cool cameo from the first movie. I hear people complaining that there is only one UL murder. Not true. Most of them took place in the setting of some UL's. There's the snuff film. The midnight scream. Carnival of terror. And I'm not too sure about the hanging. The acting for the most part is pretty good. 6/10
Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989)
Halloween 5-The Worst of Michael Myers
This is the worst movie in the series. No I didn't see part 3 and I don't intend to. Dominique Othenin-Girard destroyed the Halloween series. The script is awful. The directing is even worse. Now I'll occasionally watch this one because I like the Halloween series so much. The Man in Black was stupid because there was no actual payoff with him. No the ending didn't count. He is better in Halloween 6. They kill off the most likeable character in the first 20 minutes. After that person dies the whole movie goes downhill. If they didn't try to rush this in after Halloween 4 (very good movie) then maybe this movie could have been good. The acting is below average. I read about how Tina annoys everyone but surprisingly she didn't bother me. I guess it's all the horror movies I see because I have seen some horrible actors. The was supposed to be suspenseful and be a big cliffhanger. I found myself laughing because of its stupidity. The only saving graces are Dr. Loomis and Jamie. 3/10
Rose Red (2002)
Good, but not as good as Storm of the Century
Contains Spoilers I just got done watching this yesterday. I thought it was very good but it could have been better. I'll break it down. PART 1: The slowest part in the series only because it has to set everything up. I think it was good that we got the history of Rose Red and by the end of this series it becomes a developed character. I did like the character's especially Nick, Pam, and Rachel. MINOR SPOILER: So naturally two of the three die. END SPOILER. PART 2: A little faster. Some bad FX and yet some more background to develope Rose Red. This has the Stephen King cameo as the pizza guy here. This part is painfully full of bad lines. They kill off two of the more underdeveloped main character's and of course one of them was my favorite. PART THREE: A little slower part 2 but still good. More bad lines. My other favorite character dies. I liked the Mirror Room turning to the watery stuff. The ending is good but why is Ellen Rimbauer a vampire? So in the end this is a very good mini-series. I've noticed a trend with King's work. Every two years he puts out a new series. The Langoliers(1995), The Shining(1997), Storm of the Century(1999), Rose Red(very early 2002). So I hope we'll be seeing a new mini-series from SK soon.
