The Out-Laws (2023)
Hilarious
I truly haven't laughed this hard in awhile. Sure, the storyline is preposterous in oh so many ways but thats what makes it fun!
The dialogue, one liners, amazing facial expressions, and the stars! I was laughing from start to finish. This movie was comedic gold.
Some of my fav moments include: when Jackie Sandlers character plays dead, the skydiving conversation, every one of Adam's facial expressions, and every time Adam steps on the back of a shoe.
Honestly ready to re watch it and laugh again. This movie was the best kind of nuts when you need a break from boring reality.
I do wish Nina Dobrevs character had more screen time/was more involved in the fun bits and I feel like they really could have done more with the wedding part, but overall, I'm very pleased.
Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story (2023)
Hail to the Queen!
My friends are mooning over the love story of it all and I'm just over here trying to diagnose a dead king based off of a TV show, no big deal.
That said, absolute 10/10 from me. From the way Queen Charlotte depicted lonliness, to the way Brimsley showed us longing, and not to mention the way we felt George's fear, we understood their pain. We felt the sadness, saw the rawness of it.
Special shoutout to Lady Danbury's desperation, resilience, strength, intellect, perseverance, and willpower. What a deep character! The layers we see from her are amazing. I found myself more invested in her storyline than any other.
So very well done overall.
Sullivan's Crossing (2023)
What an Ending !
I just finished this series and I am an absolute puddle on the floor. TV does not normally make me sob like this. Please oh please tell me there is a season 2 coming!
Nova Scotia, a Canadian series, Chad Michael Murray, and Luke from Gilmore Girls all put together sounded like the most amazing fit when I heard about this. And I am happy to report that it was, in fact, a perfect fit.
Big shoutout to every Maggie and Sully interaction, which always causes a reaction from me, whether it be happy or tense. They work SO well together.
I am absolutely captivated by the beauty of Nova Scotia and this story. The choices, dilemmas, scandals, and all the layers of loss come together in a way that makes it feel deeply personal. Truly well done.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always (2023)
Beautifully Done
As a lifelong MMPR fan, I cannot say enough good things about this film. Not even 5 minutes in and i was already feeling some heavy emotions.
The Trini storyline, with its parallel to Thuy Trangs real death, had me reaching for my tissues. And then they add in a daughter !
I admit, I did not like robot Rita at first. Was mildly angry about it, in fact. But nostalgia wore off and I was able to truly enjoy robot Rita in all her glory. Alpha was alpha as usual and while Zordon was not there, he was mentioned enough to feel his spirit. I missed his loud voice saying RANGERS.
Billy felt like a natural leader, Zack felt like a natural father figure, and Minh fit in naturally and effortlessly with her new role and with the group. The tribute to Trini was wonderfully done.
Overall, I was just really glad that we got a glimpse of our heros again <3
The tribute at the end had me reaching for my tissues again. They will be missed.
Glass Onion (2022)
Southern accents
I love a good murder mystery and this one did not disappoint. After a slow start, or perhaps I was just slow to warm up to it due to that southern accent, I got really into it and started tracking motives and such.
The slow motion parts were BEAUTIFULLY choreographed. Every location and room just screamed wealth and as a fan of escapism, I was here for it. Kate Hudsons outfits were half the fun for me, as well as the outfits the character of Andi wears. Loved everything the costume designer chose.
Even though the person I watched this with has an entirely different opinion of the movie, I had a great time and would recommend.
A Bad Moms Christmas (2017)
We're all just doing our best
This movie was hilarious! This trio of ladies was perfectly cast, they complemented each other so well. The themes of the movie were all something that people can relate to: The aspect of Christmas being the absolute most expensive and stressful day of the year (due to its need for perfection or maybe the spirit of giving) and also the relationships we have with our mothers, good or bad, close or distant.
Shout out to Justin Hartley and Peter Gallagher for being simple yet lovable characters in this movie. I personally would have given them both much more screen time.
Also, the ending montage is amazing.
October Road (2007)
Not the Typical Drama
I don't even know where to start with all the reasons why i love this show. The scenery, the cast, the situations, the family dynamics! The cast is honestly amazing though. The plot is not your average drama and it included some things that i honestly don't think i have seen in any other shows. It has so many unique qualities that make it compelling and interesting (and Bryan Greenberg isn't hard on the eyes either).
Every episode had me hooked and i so wish it had gotten more seasons. It's already become a favouite rewatch for me.
I will leave you with this though: Unanswered questions from shows that i love are what haunt my dreams.
UPDATE: Have now learned that the DVD box set included a 10 minute bonus ending to wrap up some loose ends. I managed to find a copy on YouTube! I like closure.
Russian Doll (2019)
Mind Blowing
This show absolutely blows my mind every episode. I have to rewatch some episodes (looking at you finales) if i wasn't paying strict attention because there are simply so many clues / details / easter eggs that go into every scene that make it *chefs kiss*. The temperament of the main character Nadia is one of my favourite things about the show for how unconventional it is. Most shows have upbeat, positive characters as the leads but this refreshing one tells it like it is and definitely has issues. Every episode is an exciting adventure that you need to closely follow (and even then i was sometimes confused) but boy was i along for the ride! I look forward to more.
Fuller House (2016)
Brings the cheese but i'm here for it
The first thing i will say is that this show still brings the warm, wholesome vibes that its parent show Full House did and i am so happy about that. These are characters that you can (and in some cases, already have) learn and grow with. You want to see them succeed and you feel bad for them when things don't go their way. I didn't love it as much as i had hoped to and that's probably because the main cast is no longer made up of comedians (no idea if Bob Saget or Dave Coulier wrote dialogue, just assuming). Or it could be that i think DJ chose the WRONG MAN (i said what i said). Regardless, if you need a feel good, genuinely happy show, i suggest you sit down and relax for a while with this one.
Just Friends (2005)
Glow ups, crazy families and hilarity!
One of the funniest movies i have ever seen. This has turned into my favourite Christmas movie and yes, i watch it almost every single holiday season. The actors, the acting, the scenery, the dialogue! I smile ear to ear watching this movie and all i can say is if you like to feel happy, watching Ryan Reynolds (Chris) hilariously try and fail to impress a girl (Jamie) while Anna Faris (Samantha) is trying to impress him will do it for you. Everyone can relate to the old high school crush, the one that got away, the one you were too scared to admit feelings for. Years pass, confidence soars and then suddenly you have an opportunity. Who would pass that up? Throw in some glow ups, crazy families and cozy sweaters and you are all set for a great time!
The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder (2022)
LOVE THIS
I don't know what any haters are talking about. This has somehow become my new favourite Saturday morning go-to cartoon and i hands down love this show way more than the original. The writers need a raise because the dialogue and the general content of the episodes are always funny, relatable and educational. They teach you something regardless if you are an adult or a child (ex. Like how to treat everyone with kindness even if they look different or act differently than you and your family - we all know LOTS of people who could use that reminder) and they leave you smiling. This show just genuinely makes me happy. I recommend.
Maggie (2022)
A Good Time
For me, Maggie's outfits and Nichole Sakura (Louise) are the best parts of this show. It is entertaining yet predictable. Girl makes quick decisions based on very limited information and then is shocked when more info appears and decision turns out to have been bad. I find it hard to root for Maggie. Louise on the other hand, I am here for her journey to find love! Put that girl on the bachelorette! Angel as well is another great character who acts as Maggie's mentor. I always had a huge smile on my face when he was onscreen. I watched this show with a glass of wine or two and had a good time. Would recommend, easy watch.
