Don't Worry Darling (2022)
Pugh and Pine do their best but not even their great talents can make this movie work.
Glaringly mediocre sophomore effort by Olivia Wilde, who showed great promise with her debut directorial effort "Booksmart" but falls flat on her face with this bland thriller that lacks showmanship and teeth. Its shot well and the cinematography is very good but outside of those things and way better than this movie deserved performances by Florence Pugh (who makes you care when there is really nothing to care about) and Chris Pine, (whose suave and dangerous performance deserves to be in a much better movie than this) there is nothing here that we have not seen before and it overstays its welcome way before the end credits roll. Harry Styles is decent for what he's doing here but it's nothing remarkable and you can see a better actor in his role doing more with it and most of the other actors including Wilde herself are nothing to write home about.
In closing, there is really nothing here to see other than two great actors (Florence Pugh and Chris Pine) wasting their time with mediocre material.
Jurassic Park III (2001)
Destine to be on heavy rotation on "Mystery Science Theater 3000" for years to come.
Red headed step child in the Jurassic series that earns its horrible reputation in spades. I don't know what went through Sam Neill's mind when he agreed to make this terrible movie but he sure looks miserable to be in it and by the time this celluloid stinker is over, you would be miserable as well, even for a film that is a hour and a half long. Nothing here comes even close to matching the quality of what came before (The original and its very worthy sequel "The Lost World") Or afterwards (The "Jurassic World" films) Not the acting, not the directing, not the music or the cheap special effects.
Accompanying Neil for this "MST3000" bound film is William H Macy, who tries his best but he's working with literally nothing in terms of a script, Tea Leoni, who should have turn over her SAG card for her horrible performance and the late great Michael Jeter, who plays the only likable character in the entire movie, which is a miracle in itself cause most of the characters in this film including Sam Neill's "Alan Grant" are extremely unlikeable and extremely underwritten. So much so that you end up cheering for the dinosaurs by the halfway point of this movie. The direction lacks not only focus but heart as well. The script lacks not only a compelling arc but any sense of common sense what so ever. To even try to excuse this movie as "Simple and Fun" is an insult to movies that are in fact "Simple and fun". This film is flimsy and stupid filmmaking at its worst.
So in closing, keep Jurassic 3 as far away from your movie collection as you can. It's truly that bad.
The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)
A Dino good time
While it does not quite capture the magic in the bottle like the original Jurassic Park, The Lost World is still one hell of a film and a very worthy sequel to the original. A returning Jeff Goldblum and a new cast bring their A game to this movie which manages to be even scarier in certain scenes and more action oriented. It even has a climax that the last Jurassic World film should have had and it much more fun than that movie. John Williams score never disappoints, giving another grea film score and Stan Winston's once again delivers the dinosaurs goods with even better special effects.
My verdict, While not as good as the original, it's still one hell of a great film and a very worthy sequel to the original.
