Mr. Deeds (2002)

Not funny...
16 October 2002
This movie is about a guy named LongFellow Deeds(Adam Sandler) who inherits 40 billion dollars from his late uncle. He goes to New York to collect the money and a news reporter(Winona Ryder) want's his story(in order to keep her job). From this point it gets very silly. Adam Sandler wasn't as funny as he usually is. The story (actually a remake) is very boring and most of the jokes are old. The only actor who made me laugh was John Turturro. He plays a spanish butler with a twisted passion for feet. If you liked him in "The Big Lebowski"(as Jesus Quintana) then maybe this is a movie for you. I give this movie a 3/10.

Freaks (1932)
8/10
"we accept you one of us!"
23 August 2002
Warning: Spoilers
Freaks is absolutely one of the weirdest movies I have ever seen. It's also one of those movies that I will always remember. It's a sideshow-lovestory gone very sour.

*SPOILERS*

A midget named Hans falls in love with the beautiful trapeze-artist Cleopatra. He breaks up with his girlfriend Frieda and tries to win Cleopatra's heart.

Cleopatra doesn't love him (she is in love with the strongman Hercules), but since he is rich she and Hercules fools Hans into to marrying her. During the marriage-ceremony Cleopatra finds out that if you marry a freak, you'll have to live with freaks(be one of them). She doesn't want to do that.

During the ceremony they start chanting. Cleopatra get's very upset and yells at them, ruining the wedding and embarrassing Hans in front of his "family". She soon realises that she shouldn't have done that. The freaks are one big family and doesn't like when "normal" people exploit and humiliate them and their friends.

Everything gets much worse when she tries to kill Hans with poison to inherit his treasure. All of the freaks are on to her and eventually Hans finds out about it. A rainy and dark night they confront her and chase her through the forrest. They end up turning her into a freak. A legless, scarred, voiceless, chickenlady that sits in a cage in the sideshow. Bad thing seems to happen to bad people.

The strongman Hercules is also chased by the freaks for trying to rape or kill Venus, one of the "normal" girls on the show. In his final scene he is struck by a knife and all of the freaks moves towards him literally armed to their teeth.

In the end Hans sits alone in his big house. He has left the sideshow and all of his friends. Frieda visits him and tries to comfort him. The end!

*SPOILERS*

This is and was a very special movie and has been so since it was made. It was the end of Todd Browning's career, since it was too much for the critics. All the freak-actors in the movie where handicapped and disfigured for real! The combination of sex, violence and exploitation led to a ban of the movie that lasted for several decades. It has also been released in three editions(with different endings and a lot of censorship). I liked this movie a lot. It's a real cult-movie. I give it a 8/10. Watch it if you dare!

Creepy and fascinating at the same time!
16 August 2002
The movie is about the movie-student Ángela. Her professor and mentor Figueroa has approved the subject to her examination paper, which is violence on film. She can't find much material on the subject so she seeks help from another student named Chema. He's into violent splatter-movies and extreme pornography, but that's not violent enough for Ángela.

After seeing Chema's movies she asks her mentor for some movies from the school archive. He goes there to search for some and ends up finding a secret room filled with tapes.

The next day Ángela finds him dead in a chair in front of a television set. There is a tape in the video recorder. She grabs it and shows it to Chema. It turns out that it's a snuff-movie, where a young girl is tortured to death. Who is responsible? You'll have to see for yourself! I Give this move a 10/10!!!

A complete waste of time and money!
20 June 2002
When I rented this movie, I had very low expectations. Afterwards I felt really ripped off. Why did I hate this movie?

This is why:

* The story in this movie has almost nothing to do with American Psycho

* Christian Bale does NOT play Patrick Bateman in this one

* The main character kills Patrik Bateman early in this movie

* The script is soo bad that the movie becomes extremely boring after about 3 minutes(a teenage girl becomes a serialkiller to become an FBI-agent? not very realistic!)

I sure hope that they DON'T try to make another sequel. That would be really, really bad. I couldn't recommend this movie to anyone! Perhaps if you like William Shatner(this movie must have ruined his career). I give it 1/10.

perverted, twisted and sick!
14 May 2002
Salo, or The 120 Days of Sodom is about a group sick fascists who takes a group of young boys and girls to their mansion. They then rape, torture and finally murder them. Before they are killed they are forced to listen to sick, perverted stories and pleasure the fascists. Every story has a sick theme, which the fascists enjoy. A few of those are: eating human excrement, sodomy, urination ... etc.

Pasolini must have wanted to upset people when he made this movie. I think it was very disgusting and it made me really angry. It's a very strong movie for those who can stand the vile scenes. I give it 7/10.

Watch "Friday the 13th" instead!
2 May 2002
It's pretty obvious that the creators of The Burning was making a clone of Friday the 13th. It's nothing else than plagiarism. A disfigured, insane monster/janitor/burn-victim with the strength of ten men, slaughtering a bunch of sex-crazed teenagers on summercamp.

The only cool thing about this move is the actors. A young Jason Alexander and Holly Hunter appears in this movie. That's about it. This is not a scary movie. I give it a 1/10.

Kabuki-man san!!!
29 March 2002
Harry Griswold is a clumsy New York cop who one night decides to go to the theater and watch Kabuki. Suddenly guys with machineguns start shooting at the actors on stage and kills the oldest Kabuki-actor.

Harry draws his gun and shield and start shooting at them. When he gets up on the stage, the dying elder Kabuki-actor grabs him and gives him a sloppy kiss. When he does that, he transfers the old Kabuki-spirit to Harry. This is where his problems begin. The old mans daughter, Lotus must now teach him to master his Kabuki-powers to stop the evil one from ruling the earth.

This is the best Troma-movie that I have ever seen. Lloyd Kaufman is one of the coolest directors ever. Funny, violent and silly. It's full of make-up, kimonos, blood, worms and crazy villains. It also has a funny soundtrack. I saw it on the new DVD-release which has a lot of extra features.

If you love Troma-movies you will love this one. I give it a 10/10.

Guinea-pig goes soap!
20 March 2002
Warning: Spoilers
"Mermaid in the Manhole" is about an insane painter who has lost his wife. He lives alone and occasionally visits the sewers to paint. One day he finds a mermaid in the manhole. She is sick (she's got a big wound on her stomach) so he takes her to his apartment and puts her in a bathtub.

!!!SPOILERS!!! She tells him to paint her instead of taking care of her wound. The painter does what he has been told. The wound on the mermaid keeps getting worse and worse. Pus and worms ooze out from her wound and mouth. When the mermaid is dying he cut her into pieces. The neighbours call the police and he is sent to the funnyfarm. The way this movie is filmed reminds me of a tv soap. I don't like soaps, but the story and the gore was pretty ok. This one is not as gory as the other Guinea Pig-movies. I give it a 5/10.

Battle Royale (2000)

Go Shuya! You can make it!
8 March 2002
The story begins when a bunch of bored, violent and disobedient ninth-graders are randomly choosen to participate in the BR-act. Battle Royale: A game to eliminate almost 40 disturbing students(leaving only one as the survivor). They are drugged, dropped off on an island, given a explosive collar around their neck(like in "Wedlock"), are shown an instruction video(how to play BR) and given a bag with a map and a weapon. The weird thing is that their teacher(played by famous Takeshi Kitano) is the leader of the game.

Two of the students are Shuya and Noriko. Shya is an orphan, since his looser father hanged himself and Noriko is the most bullied girl in the class (they call her "tiny ugly shrimp!").

Together they and the "veteran" fight on the island. Every day their teacher tells them who died and where they should not be(they add danger zones to the map which triggers the collar if someone is in them).

Of course this movie has some bad guys too. Mitsuko is the meanest of them all. She is a sneaky, evil coldblooded murderer. Their Teacher, has his own obedient child who hates him (which makes him hate his students even more). He kills the kids who refuse to play BR.

This movie has it all. Explosions, poison, shootouts, neck-shots, cruel executions, groin-stabbings, stunguns, decapitations, lovestory etc...

It's one of the best movies I've ever seen. It's somewhere between splatter and drama. I give it a 10/10.

Disgusting and nice shots of the jungle... but that's it.
8 March 2002
Gloria, Rudy and Pat are going to the jungle to find out if cannibals really exists. Out there they meet Mike and his injured friend. He tells them a horrible story about how cannibals captured them and their Portugese friend who didn't make it(he got tortured to death).

They find the cannibals village and decides to investigate it. There's something weird about... Something very weird...

This is a very disgusting movie, but not the most disgusting one. If you wan't to see animals get slaughtered and guys getting their genitals shopped off, then perhaps this is your kind of movie.

If you wan't to see something really disgusting and scary I suggest that you watch the "Guinea Pig"-movies. I give this one a 5/10.

Killer Condom (1996)
"Thank god I didn't give you a red hanky!"
1 March 2002
Detective Luigi Mackeroni is a hardboiled, chain-smoking, Sicilian, well-hung gay(?) New York cop. One day he gets a weird case to solve. A schoolgirl has bitten off her principals...penis. She claims that she didn't (that it just fell off and ran away by itself). More weird cases just like that one begins to appear.

He traces them to a hotel / brothel where he himself used to hang. On his way to the room where the crime occured he meets up with a young male prostitute (Billy).

They enter the room to have sex. Suddenly the condom on the drawer jumps down on the floor. Mackeroni bends down to take a look. The condom attacks him and bites off one of his testicles.

Now it's personal!!!! Mackeroni has now dedicated his life to find the killer condom. The more he searches, the more complex the story gets...

This is a very funny story filled with gay-humour, drag-queens, disco-music, bitten-off male genitals and other organs (at least one nose). It's a great combination of gore and humour. The language is german, which isn't too bad. I give it a 7/10.

Rotten story, nice special effects
25 February 2002
When I saw this movie i thought that it would be something very American with heroes and badguys and I was right. This movie is about navy pilot/navigator Lt. Chris Burnett (played by Owen Wilson) who is stationed in former Yugoslavia. When he's on a mission he and his partner makes the mistake to fly into a demilitarized zone to take pictures. Some Serbian soldiers(war-criminals) sees them and shoots them down.

When they land the soldiers find them and Burnett's partner gets murdered. Burnett manage to escape and send a message to his Admiral (Gene Hackman). Now they must find him before the Serbs do.

Bad things about this movie:

*The story is very politically incorrect. Serbs and Muslims are depicted as ugly, dirty, mean smoking monsters who kill for fun.

*NATO is a bunch of cowards hiding behind mamas big, diplomatic skirt. They never get their hands dirty.

*Of course USA never does anything wrong (But why where they shot down in the first place?).

Good things about this movie:

*The special effects are very good (it's almost like a commercial).

*Owen Wilson is a great actor. He really is!

*The movie is kind of entertaining!

I give it a 5/10.

well... it's bloody and it does suck!
25 February 2002
Master Sardu is into a theater, white slave-trading and torture. He kills young, naked women in his theater-gore-show (everyone thinks it fake). One day he kidnaps a critic (who hates him) and then a famous ballerina. He's going to be famous for his new kind of art: SM-ballet. If you want to know how it ends you'll have to see for your self.

This movie has it all: evil doctors, midgets, brain surgery, dart-throwing (on a woman's rear end), cannibalism (including penis eating), skull-crushing etc... I didn't like this movie very much. The acting was really bad and the special effects was even worse. The story was actually pretty ok, but it could have been better.

I give it 2/10 for the blood and the nudity but that's it.

So when are you going to kill me? NOW!!!
22 February 2002
The fire fighter Gordy Brewer (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is going to pick up his wife and kid. When he gets there everything explodes and he loses his family. A Columbian terrorist, The Wolf claims responsability to the bombing. Gordy must now revenge his family by going to Columbia and killing this badguy.

This movie contains a lot of cool stuff like explosives, fire, shootings, poisonous snakes, ear-biting... but the story is not very good. I liked the beginning and the "Arlington road"-kind-of-twist-in-the-end but the rest is pretty average. If you like Arnold Schwarzenegger this is a movie for you. I give it a 5/10.

Basket Case (1982)
what's in the basket?
22 February 2002
Basket Case is about Duane Bradley. I kind of shy, odd and sometimes angry young man who goes to New York. With him he brings a large basket. Inside the basket lies his Siamese twin brother. His name is Belial and he is seriously deformed. He can't speak but he is telepathic (only Duane can hear him).

They got separated when they were young and now they want their revenge on the doctors which performed the surgery. That's why they are in New York.

This is one of the best horror movies I have ever seen. Frank Henenlotter always makes funny and / or scary movies. I gladly recommend it and give it 10/10.

The first movie was much scarier and more realistic.
21 February 2002
Warning: Spoilers
This is a sequel to Za ginipiggu: Akuma no jikken ("Guinea Pig: Devil's Experiment"). Like the first one, it has no plot or story. The difference between this one and the first Guinea pig movie is that this one is more like a real movie and less like a snuff-movie. It has a lot of music and a monologue.

!!!SPOILER!!! This is what happens: A crazy guy with a samurai-helmet stalks, abducts and drugs a young woman. He ties her to a bed and drugs her some more. Then he cut off her hands, her arms and her legs. Between every mutilation he takes a break and says something (I don't know what! It's in japanese!). He disembowls her and finally he chops off her head. When she is dead he takes a spoon with which he scoops out one of her eyes. Then he eats it. After that he shows us his morbid collection of human body parts. Before the movie ends he's back out on the street stalking a new girl.

If you liked the first movie because it was scary and realistic then you will get disappointed. If you like blood then you will like this one. I give it a 6/10.

Slapstick humour at it's best!
15 February 2002
The movie is about the two loosers Eddie and Richie who runs a hotel which lies next to a nuclear power plant. Of course they have few guests, but not only because of the powerplant. They are rude to their guests, they treat their personal like animals (never pay them their salary) and they fight a lot. One day they get a special guest which will change their lifes forever.

Those who have seen "Bottom" recognise Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson as the funny guys who love to make nasty jokes and kick each other in the nuts. That's what it's all about. Nutcracking, nippleripping, fish-hooking and of course a lot of ambiguos, naughty jokes. British humour at it's best!!!

very realistic, very scary, very disgusting!
15 February 2002
Warning: Spoilers
This movie has no story. It's only about a bunch of guys who tortures an innocent young girl to death.

!!!SPOILERS!!!

This is what they do: They beat her, put her in a net and let her hang inside like birdfood, spin her around on a chair until she pukes, expose her to loud noise, pour boiling oil on her, put worms in her sores, crush her hand with a sledge-hammer and finally pokes a needle through her eye.

This movie was so realistic that if I didn't know it was fake I would have thought it was a snuff-movie. Although I was disgusted by this movie i really liked it. It scared me. I guess it fills some kind of purpose. I give it a 10/10.

one of the most disgusting movies I've ever seen.
15 February 2002
The story is about a boy named Bill (played by old Bay Watch-star Billy Warlock). He thinks his family is a bit weird, and he never felt like he is a part of the family. Things keeps getting weirder and weirder...

This movie is one of the most disgusting movies I have ever seen. There are a lot of special effects with a large touch of gore. It's only for people who like splatter. Brian Yuzna is a great director allthough this is not his masterpiece. If you enjoy this one, perhaps you should watch "re-animator" and "bride of re-animator". I give this one a 8/10. Bad story, but very well directed.

A pretty good movie...
14 February 2002
When I first saw this movie (I think it was two years ago), I had only heard bad things about it. A summary was: nothing happens, nothing happens, something about a map... and that the movie ends... but it wasn't. The fact that there is no music, everything is filmed with hand-cams and that there are no special effects in it didn't bother me. Instead it made this movie better. If all those components had been added it probably wouldn't have been scary at all.

The actors also did a great job acting scared, sad, desperate and tired. It creates a very realistic atmosphere. If you like realistic dogma type of movies you should probably see this one.

Dee Snider is cool!
12 February 2002
When I saw this movie a couple of years ago. First I thought it would be just another bad horror-movie, but when i got into the story i kind of liked it. A crazy guy picks up young people over the internet. He invites them to his house and tortures them. Does it sound lame? Believe me... it´s much better than it sounds. Dee Snider (singer from the rockband "Twisted Sister") plays the crazy "CaptHowdy". Rent this one if you like horror-movies. I give it a 10/10!!

we are together again!
7 February 2002
Belial and Duane are together again. Somehow they survived the heavy fall in the first episode. This time they get shelter in Granny Ruths place. She is a pro-freak-activist which helps and protects all of the "unique" creatures she can find. This time there are no doctors to mangle, but a bunch of evil journalists who are looking for fame by finding them. The rest is obvious. I liked this one just as much as the first one. The difference is that it´s a more humouristic and less scary sequel. It also has a twisted ending which makes it even more fun to watch. Enjoy!

I´ll try to summary this movie. Orphan (Jackie Chan) is being mistreated by evil Kun fu-Club owner on the club in which he is a cleaner. He meets an old beggar who learns him "snake style" -kun fu. The old man is being hunted down for knowledge of the martial art. Check this movie out. If you like Jackie-Chan, then you will love this movie. I give it a 10/10.

Quads! (2001–2002)
Paralysed for life
29 January 2002
The series is about the alcoholic Reilly O'Reilly. It all begins when Reilly gets run over by a millionarie. The accident cripples him (he becomes a quadriplegic). The millionarie gives him a mansion in which he lives with his other handicapped friends, his girlfriend Franny, the alcoholic pub owner Griz and his gay australian physical therapist Spalding.

There are no heroes in these series. Everyone behaves very bad and no one acts politically correct. Jokes about disability is the main thing in this show. That makes it so funny to watch.

Samsonite! I was way off!!!
29 January 2002
This movie is about two friends Lloyd (Jim Carrey) and Harry (Jeff Daniels). They are not the sharpest tools in the shed. Everything they do seems to go wrong. Jobs, women.. I mean everything. One day Lloyd drives a woman to the airport (he works as a limodriver at the time). He falls deeply in love with her. Her name is Mary Swanson (Lauren Holly) and she is going to Aspen. She leaves her bag in the airport-terminal. Lloyd and Harry decides to go to Aspen to return the bag. The rest of the movie is very much a roadmovie. This is the best movie the Farrelly brothers ever made.
