Sigeuneol (2016)
Please make another season!
I know it's been years, but I read there might be a season two and if there is I'm in. I admit the opening was a slow start and I wasn't sure if I was going to stick around for 16 episodes. But I'm glad I did, this was such a good series. Very well written and the cast really clicked with each other. I won't say too much about the plot because it is layered and I don't want to give anything away. There were a lot of flashbacks in the last few episodes, but I think those were for emotional impact. I will say I watched an episode every day and I looked forward to the guitar strum in the opening, not knowing how each episode would end. Can you change the past? Should you even try, because what is the cost? Who survives? Please make a season 2 and air it in the U. S.!
Magpie Murders (2022)
So Very Dull
What happened to the missing last chapter. Who is the murderer in the book? Was the author killed, and who killed him? Will the editor take the CEO job or move to Greece to be with the man she supposedly loves.
With all these questions and so, so many characters I still can't find myself caring. We get dribs of this plot then switched to drabs of that plot, nothing of substance and all pretty silly. Neither mystery is engaging or that mind bending and the characters are dull and lifeless. Our anchor to it all, the editor, should be someone we connect with and want to know the answers just as much as she does. While I like the actress, just saw her in Sherwood, I don't like her character. She's determined to find the chapter. Why? So she doesn't have to deal with making a decision about her job or her boyfriend. That puts her in her sister's orbit, also from Sherwood, and she doesn't want to deal with her or her father either.
She's bored and avoiding her life. Well, why should I be interested? Glad so many others enjoy it but it's just not for me. I want interesting characters, not caricatures. I want a real mystery and there isn't one here except for why this has high ratings.
Inside Man (2022)
Realistic? No. Fun? Yes!
Describing the plot won't help because this is all about the tension and this is four episodes filled with tension. People with no criminal sense whatsoever get themselves into a terrible situation and then proceed to make it worse.
I see a lot of negative reviews over the plot not being realistic. I think if you read the synopsis about a death row prisoner solving crime, well, no it's not going to be realistic. It's going to be something you either go along for the ride or wait for the next bus.
I went along for the ride and it was fun. And maybe ask yourself, could you really commit murder?
Bing-ui (2019)
Good show that took a dark turn
This was a really good show with everything in it. Detective vs serial killer, sweet romance of opposites attracting, light humor among detective buddies, and a dash of paranormal. I looked forward to watching an episode every day. There are a lot of characters and we get to know and enjoy them all. Then, towards the end it takes a very dark and disturbing turn. This wasn't the show I signed up for. I honestly don't know what they were thinking. Did the writers change? It was suddenly a completely different show and tone. And it didn't make any sense. I don't want to spoil anything but weren't there any other healers around to help? Towards the end the story fell apart and I watched just to get to the ending. It kind of made me mad that they spoiled a good show. So why did I give it eight stars? Because the majority of it was good. I liked these characters, I looked forward to finding out what was going to happen. Watch the first half and walk away and make up your own ending. It will make more sense.
