The Women (2008)
I love this movie
I have watched the original 1939 movie no less than eight times. I loved it. I have watched this movie about three times, and I like it very much. I'd like that. It was updated and I absolutely loved the cast of characters. I like how some parts were the same and I like how other parts were changed. I love how in both versions there are no men in the movie at all. Annette Benning is such a fabulous actor, Meg is perfectly cast as the wife next-door, every day, down to earth, genuinely nice, taking care of everyone except herself. I really like this movie because it delves more deeply into female friendships and how nice it is to have a tribe.
Don't Look Up (2021)
I died laughing
This movie had me rolling on the floor. I have watched it several times and each time is just as funny as the first time. Leonardo DiCaprio is such a great actor. To go from a real life sex symbol to this nerd scientist is just brilliant. Anything Jennifer Lawrence is in, I will watch. Such a great ensemble cast and rolling on the floor satire. I am sure I will watch this movie again because it never gets old. Art truly does imitate life, and unfortunately, some aspects of real life are truly frightening. To me, this movie is destined to become a cult classic because our society gets more and more ridiculous each day.
Unprisoned (2023)
Love It
Finally, a show with black folks that's not just stupid comedy and gag jokes, or living a hard life growing up in the ghetto in poverty, or people suffering inhuman treatment in slavery, or drug gangsters. A show that shows the beauty in blackness. I love it. I am so tired of the stereotypical portrayals of black folks, because all black folks are not poor, all black folks are not gangsters, all black folks are not into drugs. Kerry Washington is a bright light and Delroy Lindo is a treasure. No formulaic gag jokes here. Kudos to the creatives on this project. Love and family is always messy and this shows we should never give up on either.
The Rookie: Feds (2022)
Entertaining
Pure Niecy. I love it. With those reviews that say she's not following the FBI dress code, awww come on. We don't want to watch a documentary; we want to be entertained Niecy style. I see this as a dramedy. I think TV has a plethora of serious law enforcement shows already. Take your pick. I want to cringe and laugh in the same half hour. I think the writing is good and I like how they give the characters a backstory so they can connect with the TV audience. Yeah, she's not following the FBI rules and protocol, but don't forget, this is entertainment. I also like the premise of how, because of her age, she is not taken seriously. I look forward to see where this goes.
