Queen of the Damned (2002)
WoW!
Wow! Stuart Townsend as Lestat Vampire rocker! Wow! The music matched to each scene in the movie. Wow! The actors, their makeup, wardrobe, the script they worked with, the lighting, the effects, the everything. Everybody played their roles so well. Even the brief scene with the ticket scalper. Wow! Even though this movie contradicts itself throughout and if you are fan of Anne Rice's Lestat and her books going there you could probably find mistakes throughout this flick. I mean I even noticed small non important things such as nail polish there on minute gone the next in the same scene, but hey I've watched this film like 113 times now.:) So who wouldn't notice little stuff like that? If you watch the movie for fun, don't take it seriously, it is fantastic. The music, the story, and every actress and actor plays her part so well that I can't take my eyes off this film. What can I say? Wow!!!!!!!!!!!! And the Lestat character in this movie; his accent, his ways, his cocky attitude. What a trip. Wow!
Velvet Goldmine (1998)
Strange
This wasn't my type movie, but after seeing JRM in Gormenghast for the first time ever I wanted to see more of his work, and now have seen nearly everything he's been in. My friends and family and especially my husband can't stand this actor whom I adore. I think he's a talented person. So far my favorite is his character in The Governess starring Minnie Driver. This Velvet Goldmine movie is too loosely based on David Bowie and I don't like that being that I was a teen when he was becoming famous. I was shocked by some of the scenes JRM and Ewan played in this film, but then I saw the movie Wilde and it makes Velvet Goldmine look like bubble gum. My family goes around telling everyone I rent gay porn now, and I get weird looks from hubby. How funny. I'll tell you what else is humorous-- I've read a lot of comments on this movie with people complaining JRM seemed icy and cold in this flick. Guess what folks that was his character. So I see he is the talented actor I thought after all. No. This wasn't my line of movies but I enjoyed the colors, music, and his acting. He is an elusive and mysterious character even in real life. That's why he is so intriguing....
The Governess (1998)
beautiful
I only watched this to see more of Jonathan Rhys Meyers work. I truly enjoyed this movie, it was beautiful. And the strange character played by JRM didn't disappoint me at all. It was educational as well. I found out some things about photography that I never know. This movie was great.
The Magnificent Ambersons (2002)
Magnificent, Indeed!
Everyone has their own opinions, tastes, etc., that is why we have this place to speak out - thanks IMDB! I loved the movie. It wasn't perfect, but what is in our era? It was different, pushing the edge with that I wonder about Georgie's love for his mommie stuff, and all the actresses, and actors were great. The costumes, the scenery, and oh that lovely dancing scene in the snow, just beautiful. This movie was oddly refreshing. I haven't read the story or seen the first version, and I don't think I want to, but this movie is right up my alley. I truly enjoyed it.
