Kick-Ass (2010)
Good comic adaptation
In the world of comic adaptations this was a solid r rated movie. Over top violence with a more grounded story. Cage is brilliant as big daddy and steals the movie in my opinion.
Midnight Oil (2017)
Tedious crap. Probably worst film I have ever seen avoid like the plague.
Uncreative, absurd plot, poorly shot, boring dialogue, ridiculous acting and, above all, tremendously unfunny! I'm an easy going person and, still, this movie was a torture to watch. I would actually have stopped watching it after 15 or 20 minutes but, since reviews had been kind of okay, I kept at it hoping the movie would improve. Unfortunately it only got worse with every passing minute. And please don't think I "simply didn't get it". I fully understood the supposed satire they was trying to produce. It simply didn't work. Watching this film was a complete waste of my time, except for the fact that it will keep me away from any other movies from these filmmakers. Hated every minute of it. One of the worst films I have ever seen in my life. I hate every moment of this film. I wish I could unsee this or swab my eyes out with bleach to get the memory of this garbage away.
Mars Attacks! (1996)
Brilliant homage to 50s B movie cinema
What Burton was able to do was make a big budget heavily CGI homage to old 50s B movie style cinema incorporating the classic stickers That adjourned school desks all over the lands far and wide. Hilarious over the top and slightly camp classic.
Beetlejuice (1988)
Camp classic
Tim Burton really let himself go his full wacky self with beetlejuice. Its just so fun to watch even though its over 30 years old. Michael Keaton steals the show in the title role but his zany acting plays excellent against more straight laced Baldwin and Davis.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
Genre classic
One of the most important horror movies of all time. A landmark in horror and genre cinema that changed the landscape forever. Imitated and rebooted many times but nothing packs the punch like the original.
Tobe hooper greatest moment.
Grave (2016)
Rated M for meaty
Beautifully shot French drama/horror. Lead characters are polar opposites but play so well off each other. Story unfolds at a perfect pace leading to great ending. A joy to see such excellent European filmmaking.
Beverly Hills Cop (1984)
Vintage Murphy
Great movie still holds up well today. Cinematography top notch, acting amazing from whole cast, directing on point, casting fantastic. Couldn't ask for anything better.
Manhunter (1986)
Atmospheric
Great movie still holds up well today. Cinematography top notch, acting amazing from whole cast, directing on point, casting fantastic. Couldn't ask for anything better. What a soundtrack.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)
Golf shoes
Man no other drugs movie can touch the down right craziness of this film. Its a genre of its own kind. Performances so over the top you can't take your eyes off them. Brilliant.
From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)
Rodriguez could never top this
The problem with this movie was that Robert Rodriguez could never top it. Wonderfully brilliant blend of two different movies in one. Lots of bad Mid 90s CGI violence for all to enjoy. Can re watch this regularly.
Inglourious Basterds (2009)
His best work
Easily Tarintino's best work but seems to get criminally overshadowed by others. Over the top acting and violence. Great storyline with amazing performances in the lead roles.
The Matrix (1999)
Timeless
A movie that defined a new generation and era in action and sci fi. A timeless classic of cinematic history. Shame the sequels are such a let down. Great performances from all involved.
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
The best out all the movies
Out of all the Lord of the rings and hobbit movies this hands some is the best. Storyline engaging character development and story progression top notch.
Forrest Gump (1994)
Unintentionally hilarious
I laugh my ass off watching this film. So many scenes that are funny that really should not be but I'm guessing that's just my warped sense of humour.
