Truth Be Told (2019)
Great series to watch with family (not little ones)
We often struggle to find something to watch with my seventy year old mother who lives with us that she will enjoy. We all agree that this is so enjoyable! Yes, it can be a bit far fetched and or heavy handed at times but here's a tip - it's fiction! Sit back and enjoy the story as it unfolds. The thread of Poppy's family that is woven through all of the seasons is so well done. You learn bits and pieces of them and the family dynamic as time goes by. And what a family! Loving, protecting and real. Come on Apple TV don't let's us down and cancel this great show! But wold it be too much to ask for extra episodes in season four?
Horizon Line (2020)
Entertainment that even kids could watch
If you are looking to this movie to be the one you tell everyone about over drinks and rave about how they must see it, we'll keep moving. This ain't that. What it is good for is killing some time on a sleepy rainy afternoon. Parts are so unbelievable they hurt. But you can still get somewhat drawn in if you let yourself. I will admit to fast forwarding in a part or two that were just too far fetched. The acting won't win any awards either but take it for what it is. Escapism. Fall into it and go along for the ride. There are a lot worse movies out there. And the kids can even watch this one if they don't mind the plot and all the holes.
Treason (2022)
Pure entertainment
Several reviews slammed this for not being realistic. It is FICTION. It is entertainment. It's a great easy to follow story with enough twist turns and red herrings to keep me going through five episodes. It's not a brain twister and there are holes in the plot. But there are few movies or series without a hole or three. Looking for something easy to watch while your brain is on overload? This is a good choice for that. And it can be watched with all ages to boot. No nudity very light on harsh language and no blood and guts being slung all about. Ignore the petty reviews who expect perfection.
1899 (2022)
Better than expected! Come on season 2!
I turned this on with the idea that it would be an easy watch. Something I could work on my pottery while I half watched it. I was so wrong! First off the passengers don't all somehow all speak English while all being from other countries. They sometimes can't understand one another adding to the tension. The interpersonal relationships that the passengers have are well thought out and open slowly like a flower that juts keeps blooming! If you watch closely there are Easter eggs throughout. Some easier to spot than others but this too adds to the mystery and overall tension of this series. I'm already ready for season 2 to come out! I will surely watch season 1 over just to see what I may have missed. Worth every minute of time!
American Horror Story: Requiem 1981/1987: Part 1 (2022)
Painful and powerful
Being a young adult of the 80s and losing someone close to me, who died of AIDS this was both painful and powerful to watch. That was a horrifically scary time. AIDS was the monster that stalked my dear friends and took many of them too soon. Faceless and feared cutting wide swaths through entire communities. And we all felt helpless to stop it. All we could do was huddle together and try to be as "normal" as possible. This has been a great season. Not one for everyone I understand, but we'll done as always and important that we never forget. Great casting and well written script. 10 stars across the board.
The Handmaid's Tale: No Man's Land (2022)
Digs at a moms heart
The emotional roller coaster of this episode just tore at my heart. Serena in labor was so real! It was kind of slow at the start and then the end the role reversal just crashes down on you in one wave after the next! Grab the tissues. You will need them! The writing and directing gets better with each episode. Something I wasn't sure we'd get this many seasons in but they keep pulling it off! It was good to see some "before" scenes. They really played well into this episode. Looking forward to next week! Only wish there was a preview after each episode! Whew after thta I need a drink! Cheers!
Defending Jacob: After (2020)
Loved it!
Not a closure ending but DAMN! So good! Loved all the twists and turns of all 8 episodes and the finale did not disappoint. Worth the time to watch this well written well acted series.
Keep Breathing (2022)
Enjoyed it. Not typical series
Not at all what I expected. I don't usually care for a lot of flash back things but this was well done. Not the ending I'd hoped for out of a few dozen acceptable scenarios. But would still recommend.
