don't watch it. just don't.

I don't understand why people are saying this film is beautiful? Yes i can see that it was filmed fairywell & has a gothic kind of feeling to it but this film in its entirety is just uncomfortable & overall not good in any way. There are incestuous moments between Charlie and India and it only gets weirder and more concerning as the movie progresses, there's sexual assault, implication of rape, & of course, murder. But it doesn't even stop there because from that murder comes sexual pleasure, and it was when it reached this moment in the movie (about 54 mins in) that i had to step away. I eventually decided to try and stick out the movie in hopes it was going to go somewhere and end up being something good, but it honestly just became even worse.

Don't get me wrong, i loveee Mia Wasikowska & Matthew Goode as actors, but i do not like these characters or the movie one bit. Just don't watch this movie, you will literally gain nothing by taking the time to watch it. I genuinely feel disgusted, concerned and wanting to erase this entire experience from my mind.

one of my comfort films!!

I absolutely adore this movie. All of the actors did such a wonderful job portraying all of the figures and the movie itself is just absolutely stunning. This movie just brings me so much comfort and happiness, it never fails to make me feel better (even if it's just a little bit) when I'm feeling low or sick. And yes- i know it's not the most amazing film but it's still a good one!

came for david thewlis & stayed for the plot

It was beautifully filmed and the acting was amazing. The plot itself was incredibly intricate, melancholic, twisted, metaphorical, mind-boggling, & absolutely beautiful.

It had my brother and i analysing and creating theories on what was actually happening the entire time. I recommend for anyone who loves a good thriller or a movie that fuggs with your head. I also call out to any literary, art and theatre lovers to this movie as it explores and references these topics. (p.s: david thewlis & toni collette were incredible- like always<3)
