The Ones You Didn't Burn (2022)
Horrorthon 2022
I was looking forward to this flix at the Horrorthon past October. Beautifully filmed and elegantly edited. Acting was good. Not great but good and believable, the Farm location was a character onto its self. A meditation on the topic of two sisters who's dead pops communicates from the other realm to lay bear the atrociousness that happened. I would like to see THE ONE"S YOU DIDN'T BURN again with there subtitles on because I truely felt I missed something to the story. I would imagine this flix would appear on Netflix. It seems like a Netflixs type of horror film. I do love a slow burning thriller that is well filmed.
Candy Land (2022)
Horrorthon 2022
OOOOH what a wagon! I love me a revenge flix where the once used and abused seek vengeance on a township over run with piety and pomp. Simply brill splatter flix that is a must see for anyone who has been subjected into a sex cult or if you like story's about that kind of thing. The justified bloody slashing here and there and everywhere was so believe. Kudos to the effects department for that. The actors all seemed to garner sympathy. For what they have endured and their death spree comes off as just. Cant wait to see this agian when it comes out in the mainstream. Saw this at Horrorthon October 2022.
Tenebre (1982)
Big screen at Dublin Horrorthon
I have never seen this sublime example of slasher perfection and I'm so glad I saw it on the big screen at the Horrorthon in Dublin. In Tenebrae we have the basic back up story of life imitates art as a writer endures a serial killer acting out the killings mentioned in his book.
The film contains a book that is basically the equivalent of a giallo film, and multiple characters - including the original serial killer, played by John Steiner - seem to find Neal's novel a huge source of corruption for his readers. Argento uses corruption as a source for his killers, but not in the way that most viewers would expect; Tenebrae concludes that it's not the media that corrupts, but the reader who misinterprets the meaning. For the film, the initial killer identifies with Neal's book's killer because they both are already mentally damaged, even going so far as to label gay people as morally reprehensible people deserving punishment. It's forward thinking on Argento's part, who also includes a lesbian couple in the film (designed more for titillation than progressiveness, but still surprising), two female extras holding hands in a background shot, and other fairly liberal references about abortion.
La nuit a dévoré le monde (2018)
modern look at zombiez
An original look at the zombie upcoming conflict. Sùil tùsail air a 'chòmhstri zombie a tha ri thighinn. Laughs and funny enough to have me recommend. Gàireachdainn agus èibhinn gu leòr airson mo mholadh.
Star 80 (1983)
i watched this with my mom
My mother was so facinated that i liked movies that exposed something. She said his movie blew her mind back in the day. I didnt want to laugh and say "Mom alot more has been exposed since these days", so endured watching this silly little movie. Not bad and realistic.
The Humanity Bureau (2017)
is it just me
Is it just me that thinks Nicolas Cage is a horrible actor? He is such a distraction from what could have been a better film if they cast it differently.
Right at Your Door (2006)
why hasnt this become a cult classic?
First off the acting is very good for this low buget movie. A very realistic story that isnt that action packed but the story and how its played out is very realistic.
Girl Next (2021)
shows the driving force of human trafficking
Girl next is a snippet of the force that gets people(?) to do such horrific things to other people(?) Thank you to the director for daring to show how sickening these people are yet edit away at right moment when it was too much. Dont let the horrible parts scare you away, watch till the very end. She wins.
Society (1989)
horror from the 80's is so funny
The cheesy gore in SOCIETY is some of the funniest over the top silliness I have ever seen. Would love to see a part 2. I dont think this story is taking a piss at the viewer, more like exposing something that really happens accept in a very dramatic fashion. I hear that they eat their young in California.
