Disappointed, I expected a lot from this series....
16 January 2023
Disappointed, I expected a lot from this series, its cast, based on a novel, and I found it disconcerting, nonsensical, with contradictory approaches, it supports violence, it does not support violence, it denounces corruption and on the other hand justifies it, I don't understand where it wants to go, too many contradictions in the script and in its characters, and for what it really counts it becomes too long, stretched out without giving it meaning or going deeper. The protagonist goes from being a CIA agent, and being proud of her brother to questioning him, after being kidnapped and tortured by drug traffickers?, the journalist tells them that they solve it outside of the legal channel in Bolivia, and when they do, she questions them for ending up with some terrorist narcos?. And saving one life deserves so many deaths?. In TV fiction, human life is worth less and less, and then we talk about violence in society, but what are we learning by constantly seeing this gratuitous violence? And since children. A pity.

54: The Director's Cut, a new Masterpiece is born
15 January 2023
Because they are completely different movies. Amputated in 1998 due to the adventurous leap towards the "immoral", the editing of that film was altered, eliminating almost 40min of footage, shooting 30min of new ones, adding the voice-over of its protagonist, and promoting a post-Scream Neve Campbell from cameo as Phillippe's love interest and headliner, and finally altering the order and meaning of most of his scenes. What in 54 of 1998 wanted to be a moral fable about success, excess, rise, fall and redemption (although in the end it was more of an aesthetic and forcedly melancholic anecdote); It is now the unprejudiced love story of a menage à trois, as well as an uncompromising portrait of a place, a moment, and its people. Comparing both tapes, only the character of Steve Rubell retains his essence; all the others change absolutely and fortunately, becoming now careerists, solitary beings, obsessed with success to limits as terrible as they are recognizable. Their actions follow nihilistic paths, disguised as wild hedonism, turning their backs on the tempus fugit, turning the body into a map of the night before dawn, nocturnal creatures, as Hopper would say.

And this transformation of the characters of characters gives rise to some interpretations, now yes, superb in their courage, in their sincerity, in their absolute lack of modesty and false status as a youthful star. That is why it is fascinating to observe how Ryan Phillippe, now with the best performance of his career, faces a young man as simple as he is dark, so bent on his own desires that he is capable of betraying even true love.

Incredible documentary
13 January 2023
Incredible documentary with first-person testimonies, slowly and calmly, to listen, meditate and observe the worst of human nature, the wolf that justifies itself, the guilt that evades, the hidden, justified hatred and resentment, the evasion in the looks, the slow and stammering responses, the laughter of certain witnesses, the human being can really be a demon, and then continue living as if nothing had happened. Education in hatred of the neighbor, of the brother, we see where it can go, and here, unfortunately, history repeats itself, we continue to incite hatred for mere economic interests, disguised as culture, nationalities, races and religions...

A happy series¡¡¡
2 January 2023
A happy series¡¡¡ Starting with its colorful and brilliant photography, its sensitive well-introduced and wonderful soundtrack, about which few speak, the music in this series is another great protagonist.

And it's not perfect, with some script flaws, and some character too dark or difficult for the general tone of the series, but everything else makes up for it, also, perfection is usually cold, and this series is not.

The performances in general are the best I've seen in recent years, good actors and well directed. Specifically the five main actors, Carlos and Miki, Meritxell and Giannina, manage to give soul to their characters, beyond their wonderful script, and Pepón manages to reinvent the typical drag, endowing his character with novelty and freshness. I don't want to leave out Eduardo, "Bruno's" friend, or his wife, as well as almost all the secondary ones, who endow the series with laughter, tenderness and closeness.

Alex and Bruno have managed to leave their mark on us, they have become part of our memory, it is impossible to watch the series without falling in love with them, their eyes, their smiles, their tears, they come to you, you feel them, you want to listen to them, hug them and comfort them, they fly off the screen and onto your couch.

On the other hand, I think that the five kisses between Bruno and Alex, become one of the most erotic and emotional moments seen on TV, they achieve what a nude or a typical bed scene is not capable of making you feel, desire and emotion in a good way.

A Christmas and happy series, which comes to us and acts as a balm in these times, it is a delight to watch it, we need to consume sweets, especially at Christmas.

A VERY LONG PRESENTATION OF NOTHING?
12 May 2022
A pity, good actors, photography and landscapes, but the script or the montage fails, you have the feeling of having seen the trailer of a series, but the series stayed somewhere, it does not develop, it only presents, a long trailer of something that we can not see....

VERY GOOD WORK, NICE SURPRISE
12 May 2022
Great script, with living characters, great actors, director, soundtrack, sensitive, intelligent, the book was very good, but the adaptation has managed to improve it, reminding me of the great André Maurois in his novel Climas, a pleasure to see it, feel it, live it...wanting more stories like this, we will follow its creators...a Jewel.

The script is absurd, with beginner's mistakes, and without any sense
27 February 2022
For bored children who don't think too much.

The script is absurd, with beginner's mistakes, and without any sense, the actors, photography, setting and special effects are saved, but what a waste of talent, money and time, the writers deserve to go back to school at least.. .

What a disappointment, another Stephen King work to forget
23 October 2021
What a disappointment, another Stephen King work to forget after watching this series. A heavy, predictable, boring, claustrophobic, dark and very slow series, so slow that even speeding up the playback to 1.20 does it speed up! And, what's wrong with Adrien Brody's voice? Has he drunk too much Bourbon? Has he choked on a donut? And after all there is a technical work behind it, but neither script, nor adaptation of the book, nor director, nor main actor are saved!

Too theatrical, it is not cinema
19 June 2021
Too theatrical, it is not cinema, for those of us who saturate ourselves with western in childhood, it becomes full again, I understand that for Americans it is its history, but it is too local, too dense, claustrophobic in its lack of exteriors, which we do not see except In the distance, where are the mines? Where is that wonderful landscape? Everything is mud and dirt, whores and dirty wood, it is difficult to concentrate on those dialogues so dense and out of place in those characters, who on the one hand are the worst of their class, and on the other they seem to be scholarly readers of William Shakespeare, without much sense it shows itself, and you want to know what happens, but it turns out like a turkey without sauce, difficult to digest.

Spy City (2020)

Yes, Spy City is really good.
14 June 2021
An intelligent series, to enjoy without absurd frights, is not for those who are looking for a JAMES BOND, nor for those who want bombs, explosions, wrecked cars, absurd and endless pursuits without sense, it is intelligent action, the real one ..., a very good spy series, and wonderful Berlin setting "Spy City is really good. Go in with pure excitement, leave the dread behind. The best compliment I can pay the show, before we get into specifics, is that it feels like 10 episodes of TV jammed into six. If that sounds like a weak compliment, it's not; it means the people who created the show really, really cared about plot, have a lot of ground to cover, and are not going to futz around in telling their story. This is a welcome change from shows that can't be bothered to have more than four really critical dramatic beats, but take 15 episodes to get there and fill the empty space with ridiculous, intelligence-insulting twists. So that's the other very good compliment I should give: The writers of Spy City trust that you're smart, they write to your level, and if you're not smart and you fall behind or drop off? Too bad.
