Luca (2021)
Decent, all things considered.
This is one of those rare instances where a kid flick isn't totally AWFUL. On the scale from Turning Red (1/10) to Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (10/10), I would put this somewhere in the middle. I was almost astonished to see that Disney were able to make a decent movie again. The premise is unique, unpredictable, and finally something fresh from Disney. This movie handles a variety of themes without going overboard, which I appreciate. That being said, the the conflict between Luca and Alberto at the 1hr mark seemed very forced just to create suspense. They didn't even try to build up any feelings of jealosy throughout the movie, it just randomly popped up about 30 minutes before the end of the movie. Also, this movie weirdly transitions from Luca wanting a mortocycle to wanting to go to school without much explanation other than the fact that Gulia gets to go to school. The storytelling was very sloppy at times. Regardless of my gripes with the movie, I will still give it a 7/10 for at least trying to be something different from the typical Disney cringe that have been forced in to theaters all these years. This is a decent change of pace, and I can appreciate a unique setting.
Turning Red (2022)
Fourth-Dimensional Cringe
I never relaized that I would be able to elevate to a new plane of cringe until I watched this movie. The first five minutes of the movie might be the most embarrasing thing I have ever seen. I got so much second-hand embarrasment from the absolute cringe that is this movie to the point where I was begging for the movie to be over, and when I checked I found out I was only 10 minutes in. I have never wanted a movie to be over so badly other than maybe the Sonic The Hedgehog Movie, which is the pinnicle of cinema compared to this horrendous trash. Don't get me started on the scene where they just randomly start dancing on the street. It took me 12 and a half hours to get through that cringe. This movie tries so hard to create a modern stereotypical 13 year old girl but fails at every avenue and just creates the embodiment of humiliation on the screen. Movie was so bad I started to sympathize with the bully. Stay as far as possible away from this movie.
The Simpsons: Lisa Goes Gaga (2012)
This is one of the worst episodes of any show, ever
What made 'The Simpsons' popular and unique in 1989 was its social commentary on American life. That's what set it apart from other cartoon family shows like 'The Flintstones,' and the comedy of the show in the first 8 seasons made it golden. That being said, the show should have ended with season 8! The show garnered traction by giving insightful and original commentary on consumer and celebrity culture, but the issue with this era of the show is that 'The Simpsons' is now immersed in that very culture (being one of the largest enterprises on television), which is evident within these garbage episodes of the show featuring celebrity guests like 'Lady Gaga' playing themselves. The new writers have lost touch with what made the earlier seasons great. I feel like what makes newer Fox shows like 'Bob's Burgers' better than 'The Simpsons' nowadays is the rare use of celebrity guests on 'Bob's Burgers', while still creating insightful and realistic plot points that culminate in a relatable lesson at the end of each episode. 'The Simpsons' is ironically gravitating toward and imitating the comedy style that made 'Family Guy' notorious since its premiere in 1999 (this is ironic because 'Family Guy' has always been accused of "copying" 'The Simpsons' when the current writing of 'The Simpsons' closely resembles the style that 'Family Guy has stuck with for 22 years: simply by wasting time in the episode and executing unauthentic concepts. This style works with 'Family Guy' because it's what made them famous, as their plot-writing was never praised as being golden, but it was able to generate comedy at almost any situation which was what the fans came for. This does not work with 'The Simpsons' because since the beginning of the show, the fans have become attached to the original style that made the first 8 seasons special. The use of celebrity guests, especially, to complete a plot-point is very derivative of 'Family Guy').
The Simpsons: Homer Simpson, This Is Your Wife (2006)
All time worst episode of 'The Simpsons'
Ricky Gervais does not know how to write a Simpsons episode ... wait, scratch that: Ricky Gervais does not know how to write for comedy shows in general, especially for American shows. Most of his "brilliant writing" just consists of awkward and cringe scenes, which DOES NOT work with a show like The Simpsons even though some may find it appealing in the UK. Ricky Gervais of all people should not write for The Simpsons, the show was already on the decline at this point but this episode made me lose all hope that it would return back to it's glory days (seasons 1-8). This show needs to bring back the OG writers or the current writers need to start watching the older episodes again, because it seems that they've lost the whole style of the show.
The Big Bang Theory: The Stockholm Syndrome (2019)
Predictable ending but still good regardless
We saw this coming since the start of the season, but it was still a good way to close the show. Even though Sheldon could be really pretentious for the entire show, it was nice seeing him ditch the narcissistic speech to genuinely thank and compliment his friends/wife. The final scene was fitting.
Wings: Final Approach: Part 2 (1997)
Mediocre ending to a good show
This ending was just... meh. I liked how they tried to bring it full circle with the suitcase & the money/picture, but the final scene where Joe and Helen leave so that Helen can finally get her dream job is underwhelming. I feel like it ends at a point where we could've seen more. They leave it off at a cliffhanger almost and it seems like a cop out & lazy writing.
The Office: Stress Relief (2009)
The funniest hour of comedy on any sitcom
The fire combined with the CPR training combined with the roast of Michael makes for some of the funniest scenes I've ever seen on any show ever. This is by far the funniest episode on the show.
My only complaint for this episode is that the side story of Jim, Pam, and Andy watching that movie with Jack Black is very boring. I had to skip through those parts because they were just completely dull and uninteresting.
The Office: Lecture Circuit: Part 1 (2009)
Mediocre at best
It was just an ehhh episode. It was really just a filler. Jim and Dwight plan Kelly's birthday while Michael goes to Nashua in an attempt to get closure with Holly. I will say the funniest part of the episode is when Michael says to AJ "Does she even mention me." It's extremely cringe but funny.
