Let's Do It Again (1975)
The funniest movie I ever saw
I've seen this movie along with Uptown Saturday Night countless times and, this one being the better of the two, and I still crack up. Bill & Sidney are great together and it's a shame they haven't collaborated since the 70's.
Jimmy Walker is simply "down right NAYISTEE!! with laughs".
I'm waiting for the DVD.
The Bridges of Madison County (1995)
Ruined my date!
I remember seeing this movie dating my wife about 5 years ago. We rented it and thought it would the perfect ending to an otherwise wonderful date. We knew nothing about it, but with Clint & Merril in it, we thought it couldn't be that bad.
After viewing it, I was depressed because to me, despite all of its acting and technical expertise, it was still a movie about adultery - not necessarily a subject you want to dwell on when you are thinking about marrying someone.
What I disliked most about the movie was that it tried to make a case where adultery is acceptable. It tried to make it beautiful (and it must have succeeded. I've talked with many women who've seen it and many said that they would have ran off with Clint's character - what's going on in their homes huh?). How can adultery be beautiful, especially when the husband was not abusive or an adulterer himself? We are after all human and make mistakes, but the movie did not portray the affair that way.
Although the film put a serious damper on my evening, I still got married and it's been great!
