Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi (2001)
A remarkable piece of film
I cannot sing enough praises for "Spirited Away". There is no other film like this in the world-from the intricate characters (none are one dimensional, all have so much depth) to the breathtaking and strange landscapes that could only come from a studio ghibli film. If you haven't seen this movie, watch it. Do it right now.
Bloodshot (2020)
This movie was a waste of my time
This movie looked great but that was the only good thing about it. I was so disappointed in the plot-it was unrealistic, boring, and predictable. It was your average run-of-the-mill action story with a little bit of sci-fi thrown in to make it feel new. . . it did not. It is a simple case of Hollywood pumping millions of dollars into a movie simply to make a buck instead of leaving any impact. While I think a movie CAN be made purely for entertainment purposed, I was bored.
Fugue (2018)
I was really suprised!
Now THIS is a short film. I was really impressed by the quality of this piece and I was absolutely riveted the entire time. It's about a guy who gets hit by a car and loses his memory-except he's being chased by the police, so he'll have to figure out who he is later.
The main character is constantly being shown two totally different things about who he is. This movie is only 30 minutes long but has so many twists and turns that it feels way longer than that (in a good way).
Again, it's only 30 minutes so might as well watch. 9/10
Possession (2012)
A pretty fun slasher
This movie makes it really clear that director Ralf Kemper is a big fan of the '80s slasher genre. It's got a lot of the common horror tropes, but it also adds some different technological twists and honest to god terrifying scenes that I really wasn't expecting.
Basically, this group of people go into the woods, find an abandoned bunker, and suprise! There's a demon in there that wants to possess them (I didn't tag this spoilers bc the movie is literally called "Possession").
This is a foreign made film-the actors are all German, but they all speak English. For the most part they are pretty easy to understand but there are a couple bits that I would have appreciated subtitles.
Save for a few scenes that will legitimately give me nightmares, this movie was a lot of fun and I don't regret watching it.
