Overboard (2018)
Delightful movie
I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. It's a chick flick, definitely. It was very satisfying to see the male lead turn into a decent person after living an earlier life of pleasure and selfishness. Of course the movie ends well so it leaves you with a happy feeling.
A Mighty Heart (2007)
Not very good
I kept waiting for some real story to develop. Much of the movie is the wife asking "what's going on" and phone calls. There really isn't much of a plot. The real story should have been all about her husband, but it's just about her.
Ellen: The Ellen DeGeneres Show (2003)
One of the worst shows on the air
I despise this show. I can't stand the focus on dancing people or Ellen dancing in the aisles. It's not funny - just stupid - the kind of stuff that's made for 10 year olds. It's the same routine - bring in some band that you can get up and dance to or bring in some so-called amazing kid to interview and/or do their thing. Not interesting at all.
Star Trek Beyond (2016)
Not like the old versions
If you want a movie that has a lot of action, fighting and graphics, this is the movie for you. If you want a well developed plot and good acting, it just doesn't deliver. The acting is uneven. The Spock character seems to do the best job and is believable. Some of the others seem like they are at times still reading from the script. The old original Star Trek movies had well defined relationship stories in them but in this, it seems like the characters are secondary to the graphic presentations and fighting scenes. I would even say they don't click together like the original cast. So, to me it was entertaining to a certain extent, but disappointing in that the plot was not as developed as it could have been. The actress who played the "helper" in the end did seem to be very strong and believable.
Le fils de l'autre (2012)
Interesting movie but not totally believable
The movie is a sensitive portrayal of a difficult situation. It does portray a little of the difficulties of cultures with different points of view, but doesn't go that far in that portrayal. However, I don't believe the situation in the movie would be as easily resolved as the movie seems to suggest. One thing that really bothered me is the really poor English subtitle translation. In the trailer it looks normal, but the text the trailer uses is really some of the only times when the English is well translated. The rest of the time it is like using a poor machine translation and sometimes doesn't even make sense in English.
