it's a bad start, captain
22 March 2022
Frankly, i'm not considering myself as a fan of Marvel movies or Marvel Universe and i think that they're like a "popcorn movie". I don't want to be so prejudiced tho, i've decided to start watching 'em in chronological order so, Captain America is the first on the list but actually, it's not a good start.

The script is so weak in my opinion and it has so much void and flaws. Chris Evans fits the role as Captain America perfectly, nevertheless, he couldn't turn it to a fair average one.

Knives Out (2019)

Great screenplay, hands down. And a fun mystery waiting to be solved
17 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
There's an absolutely outstanding script from Rian Johnson. The narrative, the characters and dialogues were written so perfectly with an amazing sense of humour all over the place. It's so fun to see Marta's puke habit when she lies, it really cracks me up. Especially, Rian Johnson did a fantastic job in writing of the characters, therefore it really helped the actors to gave truly splendid performances in general.

I have to talk about two moments from the movie that comes to my mind. First, It really made me lol'ed when Ransom tells Blanc, "Shut up with that Kentucky Fried, Foghorn Leghorn drawl". In addition to that, the line that "Maybe we deserve each other" in between Marta and Blanc makes me smile when i think of the duo in No Time to Die.

Great cast, indeed. Christopher Plummer who's in Rest In Peace is really good even though he has a short screen-time. Michael Shannon and Chris Evans did their job well, and Jamie Lee Curtis is so cool throughout the movie. Ana de Armas gives an incredible performance as Marta Cabrera and personally, it's the first part for me to falling in love with her. Furthermore, Daniel Craig is so good and delivers a wonderful performance as Benoit Blanc the private detective. It turns out, the 007 can do a really good job in character acting.

I like the cinematography of the film very much. Steve Yedlin prefers darkish colours and uses gloomy and matt palette which is a great choice 'cause you know, it kinda makes you remind of the nature of Thrombey Family that they're an eccentric family.

By the way, opening scene begins with the zoom-in shot of the coffee mug. Rian Johnson uses it at the end of the closing scene which Marta stands in the balcony of the mansion and holding the same coffee mug while everyone's looking at her that is really tragicomical way to end the film as for me.

And also, i gotta say that the portrait of Harlan smiles a bit at the very end if you guys are noticed which is a completely brilliant idea from Rian Johnson, in my opinion.

I've read about the details of the sequel and it is coming soon, Daniel Craig reprises his role as Benoit Blanc, a master detective taking on a new murder case with a whole different cast, naturally. Frankly, i don't want be biased but even if it's a successful one, i don't think it's necessary.

John Wick (2014)

Baba Yaga strikes
14 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Of course, i knew this is a movie series and part 4 is on the way before i watched it. Frankly, considering it to the genre of action, the film has a typical script. You know, the main character is like a legend hitman back then and he meets a woman who's love of his life so, he just stops and quits the job for her but he loses his wife and after that one incident happens that truly pisses him off and he just comes back. You could say that all of 'em is really cliché but i think the puppy is kinda a symbol that John holds onto it and it gives him hope for the future 'cause you know, after her funeral he received the puppy his deceased wife left him. He remembers her by this way.

It contains really good scenes that i like. The garage scene that John dig his secret stash of firearms up is quite exhilarating. The scene which Mrs. Perkins is appeared on the screen, i was like, "Wow, it's Stoya" lol. Adrianne Palicki looks a lot like Stoya, at least in the movie in my opinion. The film has amount enough of humour, just about right as for me. "No one that good" line that the receptionist told John in Continental just makes me lol'ed and it makes me think of a catch-phrase from a studio lol. Apart from all that, the scenes that the cleaners come and get rid of the bodies and make themselves available to dispose of the bodies for just one gold coin per body are like a gem and so enjoyable to watch.

I gotta say that John's '69 Ford Mustang is astonishing. I wish i would drive a classic car like this one just for once.

Action scenes were very well shot and really good in general. Especially, i'm quite enjoyed the car chasing at the very end.

Dr. No (1962)
7/10
definitely a strong start for the franchise
8 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I've entered into James Bond Universe with this movie. I can say clearly that it's really a great start for the franchise. Casting is excellent in general and it has given the lead role to Sean Connery as James Bond, the first James Bond, which is a right choice and it really helps to make a great start in my opinion. Frankly, he pulled it off and he's managed to make a good impression on the audience how cool a special agent James Bond really is. And also iconic "Bond. James Bond" scene completes a whole.

I haven't read the novel by Ian Fleming, not for now at least, but i think it's a solid and fluent adapted-screenplay. Dr. Julius No is a great villain and causes so much trouble for Bond and specifically, the scene which is he talks about SPECTRE and he's a member of it. I like that part because this speech of his makes a reference to later movies. As a first James Bond film, actually the script gives the idea about 007 who really is and what he's capable of and leaves a precise impression of him on the viewer's mind.

I have to say that Ursula Andress looks like an angel from heaven since the first moment when she's appeared on the screen. I'm considering a list of Bond girls based on their characters how much effects on the film they're on, their performances and their looks when i'm done watching all of Bond movies.

Unfaithful (2002)
6/10
enjoyable erotic thriller
23 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I wanna start the review with Connie's friend remarks because i think her words are the heart of the matter. I didn't remember exactly what she said but she says something like, "this kind of adulterous flings never end well." It's the crucial point of the film, and you know, you can kinda sense that it's going to happen something bad.

Anyways, i wanna talk about Diane Lane. Her performance is extremely good and she received a well deserved Academy Award nomination. She looks so gorgeous and smokin' hot like for the entire time. Great casting lol. And also her and Olivier Martinez have great chemistry the scenes they were in.

Sex scenes which is a lot by the way, are shot really well and are captured the passion that Connie and Paul have. Especially, the scenes that in cafe where Connie and her friends are hanging out and hallway of Paul's apartment.

Snow globe detail is very well thought as for me. And i think Edward's behavior was so unforeseen but also kinda realistic. The reason i've said "realistic" 'cause you know, Edward is not that kind of a guy from the outside. He's a dead-pan, stagnant, dull and sluggish guy which i think his wife gets away from him so, you didn't expect him to kill Paul but in the heat of the moment, he kinda loses his temper, gets into a rage and flips his lid and thus he kills Paul. A sudden outburst in anger is actually quite realistic to me.

I like the ending of the film. Adrian Lyne wants to leave the end a bit ambiguous to my way of thinking and let the audience decide what will happen next but the camera moves away and in wide shot, you can see the car is stopped in front of the police station. Nevertheless, you can still say that he's not going to confess but i think he will.

It's worth watching and i recommend it if you have any interest in romance thriller.

Paris is in the foreground
11 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It's the first movie i ever saw from Éric Rohmer. This is one tragicomical narrative and i think it's a good plot here and it has a great plot-twist at the end. The story is turned over to the audience really well in my opinion. Pierre Wesselrin the main character had some long walks in the streets of Paris like most of the movie and particularly, i like that and those scenes are shot well in a directorial way when you think about it.

Jess Hahn is good for the entire film and he fits his role both by an appearance and acting way as Pierre who is kinda a guy that is full of it, inconsiderate and self-obsessed but i really like the performance of Jean Le Poulain as Le clochard.

When you think about the film, the scenery is really important part of it, you know, the streets, the roads, the buildings, the bridges, cafes and restaurants etc. Honestly, it kinda makes me wanting to go to Paris. Particularly, it's satisfying visually to see Pierre walks along the River Seine.

It's Éric Rohmer's first feature film and as i said, it was his first film I've watched and i can say that i like his directing style. If you have a thing for Paris, you should watch it.

Dune (2021)
7/10
awesome directing with brilliant cinematography and visual effects
9 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I haven't gone to the cinema for so long because of the pandemic, you know, Covid situation and all, it's the film which is the returning back to the cinema for me. And honestly, I'm happy to see it on the big screen cause especially, visual effects are so good and strong which that makes an extra entertaining.

About the film, there's a good script which is an adapted screenplay based on the book that has the same name with the movie called Dune by Frank Herbert in 1965. As far as i know, Denis Villeneuve wanted to split it into two parts due to length of it and it's a right choice in my opinion, too and shot it in two parts. Part Two is coming to cinemas in 2023 for now.

I haven't read the book-at least for now-but i think that it's a really creative idea when it's considering to it's written in 1965. Still, when you think about "the one" as a key element then you'll see and find some resemblance with some movie series, prequels, sequels etc. Which leave their mark in history of cinema. Specifically, Paul Atreides and his kinda alter ego Kwisatz Haderach are reminded me directly of Mr. Anderson-Neo in The Matrix series. I know it's a book adaptation and there's like no choice but still, this plot like with "the one" is very common and repeatable, it's used in the past and also it's used in certain movie series such as Star Wars, Harry Potter and as i've just said it, The Matrix that first film series' that comes to my mind.

I think it's a director movie absolutely. It's a fascinating directorial performance from Denis Villeneuve.

For starters, Timothee Chalamet did his job as the one. Rebecca Ferguson and Oscar Isaac are really good aswell but i'm impressed by Javier Bardem as Stilgar which he really contributes to the film.

It's an exquisite and brilliant movie when you think about cinematography and visual effects. Graphic design team did a good job with "sandworms". Those scenes with sandworms are quite astonishing and amusing. You know, when a sandworm pops right through the sand, frankly, it was visually remarkable to watch.

I gotta say that, the scenes with the beginning of the war and after all of the happenings are nearly as visually impressive as the sandworms.

As i said, it's a very good film for directorial way and i can't wait for the sequel of course but i don't think it can't push the top places of the films of Villeneuve for me.

It's one of the best psychological thriller in the history of cinema
26 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As for me, primarily, it's one of the most successful examples of the genre of psychological thriller and drama. It's truly outstanding, i love it so much.

Secondly, Ellen Burstyn, oh man, is astonishing. Particularly, when you guys remember the scene which Sara and Harry talk to each other and Sara's monologue, Ellen Burstyn just nails it, hands down but in general, her performance is just so good from her first appearance on the screen to the last one in the hospital. She plays a woman who obsesses with a reality show and wants to be on it and one thing let to another, her addiction runs deep for the sake of weight-loss. I mean, you can actually see a person that you know who's a drug addict and is depraved of it. Burstyn depicts the people who suffer from addiction and how they feel and the deprivation in general so successfully, convincingly and vividly. I haven't watched the other movies yet which were nominated for an Oscar for best leading actress category but Ellen Burstyn's performance is definitely Oscar-worthy one.

Further, there's a really a good chemistry between Jennifer Connelly and Jared Leto as a a young couple and also, fine performances from both of 'em. The scene with the two argue with each-other is just something-else and so freaking tense and very well shot indeed.

That's an amazing script and some details are well thought of. It was narrated so well that the reality TV show and the pills addiction of Sara Goldfarb. And Juice by Tappy reality show which is created by Darren Aronofsky is an excellent touch. The show itself is an example of a great work. I think that there's a brilliant and direct connection-i call it that anyways-between Sara's red dress and Marion's appearance with a red dress at the pier, is just perfect filmmaking. It's a film that is very well directed. Furthermore, considering to the film's plot, it's so coherent to be edited by fast cutting and it's the right choice in my opinion.

I have to say that it has an amazing score from start to finish. Clint Mansell did an incredible work. Specifically, Lux Aeterna is just an astonishing composition. Thank you for it, sir.

It is said that it's scary, frightening and so dark when you think about the ending but i like it very much cause it had to be that way. Frankly, it was kinda clear that such an end was being made and they had it coming. It's an inevitable ending for all of four characters because of the result of their addictions.

Four protagonists face to an awful fate. Harry loses his arm, his arm was cut off because of the infection. Tyrone was sent to a local prison in Florida and accepted his sentence and did hours of labor with heroin withdrawal in his system. Marion was so desperate to find heroin and went to Big Tim's place where is a kind of prostitution center and for getting money and drugs, she was forced to have sexual intercourse with other women at the center. And at last, Sara has been completely abandoned in a mental hospital, treated callously by everyone at the hospital. And that scenes of Sara has moved me to the most, especially, that forced spoon-feeding scenes was so intense.

It's an exquisite film literally. I think that it's the best movie of Darren Aronofsky.

Note to self: Jennifer Connelly is so perfect for the entire film and looks incredibly gorgeous and that gives me all kind of tattoo ideas.

The Butler (I) (2013)
7/10
Period drama through the US history
22 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
For starters, you will kinda be starstruck when you see that great cast. Considering it to the film includes eight president, it shouldn't be a surprise for having that star filled cast. Robin Williams, Alan Rickman, James Marsden, Liev Schreiber and John Cusack portray all the presidents at the time Cecil being at the White House. And also, Minka Kelly is in as Jackie Kennedy and Jane Fonda portrays First Lady Nancy Reagan. Forest Whitaker (Cecil Gaines) is in a main role who plays a butler that serves for so many years at the White House is so good in his role. Oprah Winfrey performs very well as Gloria Gaines. David Oyelowo plays Louis Gaines who is an idealistic man that is libertarian and egalitarian and has a complicated relationship with his father.

The scene with Cecil, Gloria, Louis and his girlfriend have dinner with home shows the differences and troubles of between father and son. It's a really good scene and it kinda proves how far they think compare to each other but yet, the scenes that Cecil tries to demand an equal pay for black staff working at the White House through the years shows the audience to he doesn't turn his back on his son completely and he supports him in his fighting for equality. Even though, Cecil has his ups and downs with his son, he really loves him and care about him. Towards the end of the film, he goes to embassy of South Africa and joins a protest with him.

That restaurant scene is one of the good scenes i can think of and it effects you and cuts you deep and leaves you thoughts on it. People really just should be better, treat better and they must say no to racism.

I have to say that it was pointed it out by the film that even though with a little time of his presidency, JFK could change something for people in the US and how much he could affect on people's lives.

Plus, Lee Daniels the director, externalizes the effect of Dr. Martin Luther King and the civil rights movement very well indeed.

It's inspired by true events, period drama and you can see all of the presidents come and go through the years and all of the changes that they made both at the White House and the country in general. You can try to understand their perspective even with a glimpse. I think it's important to see this film because it shows a long period of time in the US history and it actually shows what's country been thru all these years. It's worth-seeing and it should be watched in my opinion.

Sicario (2015)
9/10
It's one of Denis Villeneuve's finest works
21 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It's a gripping crime drama and a brilliant psychological action thriller. It flows so fluently and even if it's an intense one, i'm really enjoyed every second of it.

Emily Blunt is so successful in the role of Kate Mercer who is an idealistic FBI agent and she just wants to play the game by its rules that's why she finds herself in a moral dilemma. Josh Brolin fits the role when it is considered to his general style and appearance and did his job well. And Benicio del Toro whom i like him very much, was incredible as always. He plays a character who speaks not much and that makes the audience wonder about his background and it makes a very mysterious character which i think it is very well thought of Taylor Sheridan, the screenwriter.

I have to say that opening and ending scenes were amazing, especially, the opening scene was mind-boggling from head to toe and it was so freaking intense. Gunfight scenes are very well shot and there are high level of emotions in that scenes.

It should be indicated impeccability of cinematography by Roger Deakins. Roger Deakins shows an exquisite example of cinematography in general throughout the film but specifically, the scene where the final operation begins is just incredible work.

I wanna say that it's one of the best films of Denis Villeneuve and it's a big recommendation from me to you guys.

Bombshell (I) (2019)

Charlize Theron is top-notch like she always does
20 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, there's an outstanding cast in right just here. Nicole Kidman and John Lithgow did their job really well. Margot Robbie shows a good performance in the role of Kayla aswell who is a woman that is harassed by her boss, Fox News head Roger Ailes. Especially, the scene which she bursts filled with emotions and talks on the phone with her friend Jess Carr (Kate McKinnon) and explains what did happen with Ailes. "Lifting the skirt up" scene was very tensional and you can just feel the intensity like a tightrope in that scene. Charlize Theron is incredible as always in the role of Megyn Kelly and she also uses her voice differently and that makes her performance is even better. It's definitely very well-deserved an Oscar nomination for her.

I truly enjoyed fast-paced editing. I think this helps that the audience pay even more attention to the movie and are fully concentrated on it. Jay Roach the director, uses some actual archive footage of Donald Trump which by the way, i really enjoy that and he externalizes the period between Megyn Kelly and Donald Trump very well. Furthermore, he conveys conservative and republican nature of Fox News successfully. In addition to, it's interesting to see the reactions and mood of staff at Fox News after the trail. I gotta say, the elevator scene was just so good, you can sense the stress and tension that all of three women feel. Actors sometimes talk by looking directly to the camera, as for me, it's important that's because for the connection of the viewer and the film.

By the way, Kazu Hiro and make up crew did an excellent job so, that's just perfectly good. They deserve an Oscar for it and it's ain't surprise that they won the Academy award for best makeup and hairstyling.

I'm pleased with the fast-paced editing but it's a good script aswell. I think there's some serious criticism about male power in work environment. I personally think that it's a necessity to make more films like this one, you know, especially, after "me too movement". People should watch more films with the similar topic and they can actually see a toxic environment of a work place and fully understand that they shouldn't see women just an object and treat their co-workers, colleagues, employees, etc. Better in my opinion.

awesome movie with a bunch of incredible performances
25 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I played a game on PS4 called "L. A. Noire" and then recently, when i've watched this film, it makes me think of that game instantly. The Mad Men crew starred in the game tho lol. Anyways, i don't know anything about where the inspiration comes from to the writer of the game but L. A. Confidential definitely helps. It has taken straight from the movie. You know, the era, the clothes, the cars, mystery crime thriller, a detective who gets a promotion all the way up, even the narrative comes from the headlines in each chapter. Anyway, i keep going on about it but all i'm saying is that there's a big connection.

Going back to the movie, it's 1950s. I always love this era. The clothes, the places, the cars, anything about it. We've got a really well written script. Even though, it is predictable for some people who the actual "traitor" is but i thought Pierce Patchett is the man in charge of all of this for a long time. At the end, Bud White is still alive after all that shooting, it's a bit exaggeration in my opinion. However, it's really a nice point of view from Brian Helgeland and Curtis Hanson which externalize the decay of the system at the end. The audience know that there's a corruption in the LAPD and it's completely rotten. You know, the movie ends with a scene which is the LAPD decides to protect their image by saying Smith died a hero in the shootout, while awarding Exley a second medal for bravery. Danny DeVito plays Sid Hudgens who publishes Hush-Hush tabloid magazine. The screenwriters use the headlines for explaining the events and what's actually going on and DeVito narrates all the happenings. As for me, It's very well-thought-of by them. Furthermore, the scene called "Bloody Christmas" which is Dick Stensland and other cops take a brutal vengeance on some Mexican prisoners and beat them up is very well reflected by again, the way of using the headlines.

Character of Ed Exley is very well written and Guy Pierce portrays incredibly well. Russell Crowe gives a fine performance too but i really enjoy the performance of Kevin Spacey. The role of Jack Vincennes suits for him and he portrays the character in a classy way. Likewise, Kim Basinger gives an awesome performance, definitely Oscar-worthy. I think that the character of Lynn Bracken is written for a really beautiful and gorgeous woman such as Basinger, she's combining with a pure and delicate way of acting that makes a terrific performance.

I gotta say, the scene which is Jack Vincennes was killed by Capt. Dudley Smith is so shocking and unexpected. And the detail of Rollo Tomasi which is Jack murmurs after Smith shot him makes the scene to a perfect one.

Frankly, it's one of the best films i've ever watch, i'll definitely recommend it. Solid 9.

Love Story (1970)
7/10
classical romantic drama
23 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, the connection between the opening sequence and the ending was well-thought-of and good. The viewer already know what's gonna happen next but they still can enjoy the journey. Yet, it is a really good script and especially, the character of Jennifer Cavalleri is very well written. The relationship between Oliver and his family and also, disapproval of his family about Jenny is well reflected in my opinion. The turning point of their relationship (you can say that about many relationships have of their own turning points) is that Jenny gave up her dream which is going to Paris but instead of that, she decided to marry Oliver.

I like the chemistry between Ryan O'Neal and Ali MacGraw throughout the movie. He gives a fine performance but Ali MacGraw did an incredible job, hands down. She gives an outstanding performance and she's so much in character and i really enjoyed it.

Richard Kratina did some fine work as a cinematographer. He uses pale and faded shades of coloring and it's all grey weather. It's cold, and snowy NYC for the whole time, don't forget about hockey and there are big, long coats in everywhere and actually when you think of the ending and the disagreement between Oliver and his family, you can feel the cold and snowy weather in New York.

And of course, i gotta say, it's an awesome score from Francis Lai. Sure, you guys already know about it, but the film's theme is such a classic.

In summary, i think you'll very much enjoy watching it if you like a romantic drama.

Sleepy Hollow (1999)

leave it to Ichabod Crane
12 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It's one of the most successful collaborations from Burton-Depp duo as for me. You can say that this film has a classic theme and it's correct. It's all about revenge and based on a vengeance story but Tim Burton does that in very comic and intense way. He manages to find a way to narrate a very familiar theme by using his own style and surreal characters but yet so real. He puts some sense of humor, action and horror in it and it turns to be a very good movie.

I gotta say this, the character of Ichabod Crane is very well written. Needless to say, Johnny Depp is so awesome in the role. He did really an incredible job and bring that fiction character come to life. The scenes which Mr. Crane is petrified with fear when he sees The Headless Horseman for the first time and he is really afraid of spider are priceless. Christina Ricci is good too but got used to her as Wednesday Addams and all black clothes and everything, seeing her to play the role of young, pure and innocent daughter that is really awkward to be honest lol.

In summary, go on and watch this movie. I think you guys will enjoy it.

entertaining black comedy
11 August 2021
Truly, that is an outstanding cast. Even if you don't like the genre or just know the film is all about comedy, you'll wanna watch this film when you see that cast. Kevin Spacey who plays the character of Dave Harken who is a jealous and narcissist man is one of the "horrible bosses". The other boss has an unique character that is Bobby Pellitt who is a complete idiot that is playing by Colin Farrell. And the last but not least, Julia who is a dentist is obsessed with sex that is playing by the one and only Jen Aniston. All three "bosses" fit in their characters and all of the three actors perform really well in these roles. And of course, Jamie Foxx, too.

Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day have a good chemistry between them through the entire film.

This is a black comedy and it is flowing 'til the end. Besides the cast and the performances, all i can say is that i recommend this film. I think that you have a great time watching it.

By the way, i've just learned the sequel, i haven't watched it yet and i just liked this film and found it successful of its own genre but i doubt that whether the sequel is the right choice or not.

with the help of Mr. Miyagi
11 August 2021
John G. Avildsen tells an another story of an ambitious character who is also an underdog (you guys have guessed it already, i'm talking about "Rocky" here) and this film can be classified within sports genre aswell. I like this film in general and actually i give probably all credits to the presence of the character of Mr. Miyagi. Speaking of which i have to say that Noriyuki "Pat" Morita gives an incredible performance throughout the entire time. However, of course, Rocky is so much more than that.

Personally, i don't see the point in casting Ralph Macchio as the lead character. I think that he's kinda irrelevant. Daniel is a bullied teenager who is not so pleased with moving in CA and constantly complaining to his mother that he wished they didn't move there at all. I think that Daniel was written as a tender teenage boy and a gentle soul and all of that makes me think of a "good guy" image. Ralph Macchio doesn't give that vibe and i don't think that he's the right choice for the role. Also, there is not much a chemistry between him and Elisabeth Shue in my opinion.

Anyways, in spite of everything we have a cult film with all that sequels and remake and you guys wanna give it a go.

inspiring and heartwarming
10 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
For starters, this film is considered to be in sports genre besides you know, biography and drama but even if you don't like sports at all, you can enjoy it. It's based on a true story which is heartwarming and inspiring. I highly recommend it.

Sandra Bullock did some comedy, rom-coms and big budget blockbusters but in this movie she gives her career best performance in my opinion. She plays so modest, unpretentious and caring and with that southern accent, not shocking for me, she won an oscar for her performance. Quinton Aaron is very good in the role of Michael Oher aswell.

John Lee Hancock did a great job as a writer with the scene that Leigh Anne intervenes the football practice and explains it to Mike what he's supposed to do by giving examples for his "protective instincts" and using 'em as he can understand. He gives an example of great sense of humor with the scene that Leigh Anne and Mike go for a shopping to a store called "Big and Tall". That scene cracks me up lol. I also like the scene which is Michael tries to find a subject for his essay and struggles, his tutor (Kathy Bates) tells Sean (Tim McGraw) to help him out, then he reads the poem and helps Michael with his essay. By the way, "The Charge of the Light Brigade" is an incredible poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson and you guys may wanna check it out.

Sure, this film had some stereotypes. It includes a conservative, republican, white-collar and rich family which helps a boy out and i really can understand some people don't want to watch it because of it but i think you should check it out.

I really enjoyed this move. There's a great chemistry between Hathaway and De Niro throughout the entire movie. And both of them give wonderful performances thus the quality of the film lifted up by them.

I do like the idea of "senior internship program" which is Ben got the job at the firm in this way. I, found this idea that is very creative. Also, i like the scenes which is Russo and De Niro in it. This duo maintain and keep the sense of humor in film at a certain level. However, i don't like the ending because you know, it has kinda feminist side and female character leads the way which i like but she forgives her cheating husband at the end. Personally, it should've been ended differently.

In general, even though i didn't like the ending, it's a lovely film and it's worth watching.

World War Z (2013)
7/10
non-stop action with Brad Pitt which is fine by me
3 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
If you like an action thriller with zombies then this film works for you, folks. It has some clichés like they assumed that Gerry is dead because no one couldn't get in touch with him, they wanted to evacuate his family from the ship immediately. However in general, i did enjoy this movie mostly because of the existence of Brad Pitt.

I gotta say, i feel that it kinda ended like there's gonna be some kind of sequel but as i'm writing, it's been eight years from the release and there's nothing for now.

Awakenings (1990)
8/10
brilliant performances from Williams and De Niro
2 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I always say that i like a movie which is based on a true story. And this film is no different. Furthermore, a film that has a great script like this one and with these cast i actually can't believe why i didn't watch it until recently.

Robin Williams who plays Dr. Malcom Sayer is amazing. Dr. Sayer who faces some difficulties with human relations. He doesn't communicate with them, he's bad at human contact. Clearly, he doesn't understand people and can't find to make sense any of their behaviours. However, he's kind hearted, polite and simple man in a good way. He's such a sweet guy. And Mr. Williams externalizes that character really good. He plays with his emotion and so unpretentious and modest. Brilliant performance from him. And Mr. De Niro, hands down, it's one of his incredible performances and such a powerful example of method acting.

As i said it before, it's a very good script. Steven Zaillian whom usually i enjoy very much of his scripts did a good job with well written adapted-screenplay and characters.

To sum up, this is a good movie with amazing performances, go watch it!

The Town (2010)
8/10
great crime thriller and well directed by mr. affleck
31 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
There's a love affair between crime thriller and Ben Affleck. I really don't know about it but i think that it is his favorite genre. Personally, i like this genre too. This movie includes Boston and some crime action and occasionally, some scenes keep the audience on the edge of their seat and that's all works for me.

There's hazy and gloomy Boston weather. Almost all of the indoor scenes are dark and very depressing. It's all very harmonic when you think about the mood of Doug MacRay. Considering to all of the above, i really think that there's an excellent work of cinematography by Robert Elswit.

I must say that the robbery scene and afterwards the car chase scene was shot really well. So much tension in the air, frankly.

By the way, it's an awesome performance from Jeremy Renner. You, sir, are definitely a fine actor.

Happy Feet (2006)
7/10
enjoyable and also instructive
31 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It's really an entertaining animation movie. There are fast-pace editing, action and humor and you can't really understand how the time flies. So, George Miller shows some class work and you can sense the quality of work.

There's a really good script. Actually, it's a special one because there's a good narrative in one hand and also the message to the people in the world about climate and how destruction of humans affects on nature in the other.

I think it's really important that the singing performances of the actors and actresses because it's a musical film. Therefore i can say that Brittany Murphy is so good in the role of Gloria, especially the scene that she sings Somebody to Love from Queen was so awesome. Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman show some class and perform really well. Also, Elijah Wood (Mumble) performs well in the lead character but i got a kick from the performance of Robin Williams in the role of Ramon who's a funny and cool character.

It's an enjoyable and such a sweet film. And you can also taste some musical pleasure. I can't wait to watch the sequel.

P. S. R. I. P to Robin Williams and Brittany Murphy.

Sully (2016)
8/10
powerful biography and drama
30 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, this is the example of perfect casting for the role of Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger. Tom Hanks, you sir, performs incredibly well here yet again.

The film is about that US Airways Flight 1549, an Airbus A320, on a flight from NYC's LaGuardia Airport to Charlotte, struck a flock of birds shortly after take-off, losing all engine power and unable to reach any airport for an emergency landing, Captain Sully decided to glide the plane to a ditching in the Hudson River. And afterwards, as you can imagine, National Transportation Safety Board opens an official investigation about the captain and his co-pilot. It's about that Sully's dilemma which is whether the water landing decision was right or not and effect of this decision on passengers, cabin crew and the press or other people. Sully thinks that "what if i really put all of these people's life in danger?" or "was it really a good choice i've had?" constantly. In general, there's a good script right here in my opinion. Todd Komarnicki sticks with the investigation period and Sully's feelings, not an off-topic or something like that.

By the way, I must say that Clint Eastwood did a fine job as a director. Especially, he did some quality work in the scenes which is inside of the plane. You can just burn with the moments of strucking a flock of birds, high tension of the cabin crew and in the cockpit, safely water landing to Hudson River and evacuation with water fairies. Particularly, these scenes were shot really well. I think that these scenes i'm talking about above, he did reflect the tension and thrill of these minutes vigorously.

In summary, this movie is a must-watch in my opinion and besides, Tom Hanks in it lol.

Zodiac (2007)
7/10
it's a quality one but i'm not so pleased with it
19 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Another narrative which is full of mystery from David Fincher. And just an another sleuthing flick after Seven. But unlike Seven, it is a slow-paced movie and i can say that i didn't get much a taste of it. Frankly, you wanted to know who this serial killer is but after passing some time and you know, after a certain point, i think, it doesn't matter anymore. Maybe, David Fincher wanted the audience to have some kind of this feeling. Or maybe, you know, very much likely lol, i'm the only one who's just feel this way...

Robert Downey Jr. Who plays the character of Paul Avery who's just a troubled and alcoholic guy performs really well. And Jake Gyllenhaal, as you know and like always is so good in the role of Robert Graysmith who's a passionate, determined and tenacious cartoonist.

David Fincher is one of my favorite directors and is in like my top 10 but Zodiac isn't amongst my fav movies, that's for sure.

you're in the mood for military drama, you can watch it
9 May 2021
I have to say that generally, i like the film even though the performance of Richard Gere is very inadequate. I don't know the reason really but usually, i don't feel like enjoying the performances of him in his films. I think the best performance of his is in Chicago as the character of Billy Flynn. He was so good in that film, like oscar-worthy good. Anyways, back to this film again, Debra Winger is really good as the character of Paula Pokrifki. And Lisa Blount gives a fine performance aswell. But you know, above all of that, Louis Gossett Jr. Did some real incredible work, gives an amazing performance as Sgt. Emil Foley, hands down.

Except for my personal opinion for Richard Gere (lol), if you wanna watch a romantic military drama movie, i think you'll like it.
