Pretty Little Liars (2010)
This might be the most ridiculous and far fetched show in history
No joke, for this show to work, "A" would have had to be psychic, no other possible explanation. I guinely do not understand how this show has such popularity and a huge fan base army. This show makes zero sense and is so far fetched that I can't get through a single episode where it doesn't take me out of the show for something happening that LITERALLY can not be logically or plausibly explained. Things like Hanna opening up a box of cereal in the school cafeteria and all the letters are an A! So A just knew she'd get that cereal, and eat it; not even taking into effect that how that was even carried out. That honestly is one of the easy ones to explain. "A" can't physically infiltrate every single moment of all of these peoples lifes and leave clues in every situation that the girls are put in, situation that there would have been zero way of "A" knowing the girls could or would have seen them or be effected by them. Great example- Spencer goes to the eye doctor and decides to go into a completely random room to take a call and the eye charr has a message waiting for Spencer. How would "A" have any idea that Spencer would go into a random room to take a phone call, and just happened to leave the perfect message in an intricate way? Also, how does NOBODY ever see these clues, messages, or acts that "A" takes part in and creates? How does "A" do things that seem like they'd take hours in minutes, and how do we constantly see "A" behind these girls and creeping around them, yet vanishes within literal seconds without a trace? That's not my biggest issue; how is "A" able to ho around in public dressed in head to toe in black, and most times hiding their face!? Literally there are scenes where "A" is walking around town and into businesses in the daytime wearing head to toe black, and GLOVES! That's the most suspicious thing about "A". She apparently invisible to the rest of the world and is rarely remembered by anyone that encounters "A" yet there's never a person that is suspicious or thinks that they should notify the police about this person. "A" public sightings are never discussed, as if all this police investigations never lead to a single hit or sighting of a person that is literally part of every crime that are committing and blatantly visibly suspicious! This show is trash, this show makes Riverdale actually not seem like such a mess. I just don't understand how people can watch this and find it to be great story telling and writing, captivating, and worth the watch.
Zoey 102 (2023)
I really gave it a shot
Honestly, I wanted this movie to somewhat succeed, if for nothing else but my screwed up childhood. I always think that we don't have enough of the characters we grew up on making a comeback, nor the shows and movies they were in. When I first heard this was coming out, I guinely got excited because the idea of a show I loved as a kid getting a second chance after it was cut too soon felt fun and exciting. I wanted to see something from my preteen years adapted into something I could enjoy as an adult. What I imagine it was like for people who watched Degrassi for the many generations it carried its characters through. I remembered there was some sort of drama with the cast, but of course when this movie came out, Quiet on Set had not yet aired. So I did not know about the wrongful behavior towards Alexa Nikolas. So I was guinely excited for this movie; going into it with no prior knowledge of drama or behind the scenes past issues and behavior. That said, this movie gave us nothing. There was no actual interest in showing us what has gone on with the characters since they were at PCA, nor did they give us any interesting or exciting new information to have us invest back into these characters we loved growing up. They were just there.... literally, if you've never seen Zoey 101, these characters wouldn't matter, not even their names. I felt like it was a spit in the face to people who actually expected to go into this feeling warm about seeing a piece of our childhood rejuvenated. It was just fluff. I truly hope this does not stop Hollywood from bringing back an adult reunion of some of our childhood favorites, because if they could get this right, it could be amazing *Obviously not "this" one, but another show/movie. It could have been great, but not even the potential was here to be scene. Did not feel invested nor excited to watch something that could have brought so much fun. Someone please get out here and do this right!
Mean Girls (2024)
Not great, alot disappointing
As a millennial, I did not think this movie had a shot at succeeding, but I was willing to watch it to see what they did. Boy was I disappointed to find out I was right. This movie is just not good. I wouldn't even blame it on the casting like most people are harking on. To me, it was the lack of connection or investment I felt in watching this. I would have preferred and believe it would have been more successful and worthy if they tried to create a sequel instead. Atleast than that could've made it more original. You can't take one of the most quoted and loved movies of all time and slap a few songs in it and make it a hit. If they were trying to make this into the movie that goes with the musical in real life, they failed. I honestly wouldn't go see the musical if it was anything like this disaster of a reboot, or whatever you want to call this unwanted and unnecessary film. This honestly could have been amazing if it was executed properly. Unfortunately that was not the case.
Suits (2011)
Not terrible but too repetitive
It took my awhile to finally sit down and waych this show. I had heard good things about this show and I saw that the reviews were for the most part positive. I really wanted to like this, but it is so repetitive and nothing seems to change, they just recycle the same stories, conflicts, and plots every episode. I guinely don't understand why there is no evolution with the characters when there easily could have been, and it would have made the show way less boring. It's easy too lose your concentration when there is nothing to keep you interested. The characters rarely evovle, they have the same problems in every episode, and nothing seems to ever change making it impossible to stay invested. Unfortunately, the longer you watch it, the more you realize just how flat it is and that it's not going to get much better. Around season 3-4 is when it becomes very noticeable that the stories are not original or unique from one another. Really just finishing it to say I gave it the best shot possible.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Doomed (2000)
Bland-disconnected episode
This episode felt out of place, disconnected, and did not go with the usual flow of the show. I never really felt interested in this episode nor was I ever invested in what was going on; it did nothing to grab me and make me care about the storyline. Honestly the only thing that felt worthy of watching was Spike's scenes to an extent because atleast there was something there to make you interested in what was going on there. This episode is one of those episodes where you can watch it or skip it, and it wouldn't matter either way when it comes to understanding the story. Skip this episode or don't, I don't think it will hinder you either way from the story of the season.
Barbie (2023)
I think I set the bar too high, it unfortunately fell flat for me
I'm guinely sad to say this movie fell incredibly flat in my opinion. There was no spark, a film trying to do what it was trying to accomplish needed that spark to make it get it to where it was trying to go! It felt as if it was missing that connection the audience/viewers want to receive and feel from beginning to end, forgetting you're watching a movie, that spark that makes you get lost in the story in a best kind of way. I had beyond high hopes for this film. I was truly ecstatic to see it, and was rooting for it every step of the way... all the way till I stood up from my theater seat as the credits rolled. I had this glooming feeling of confusion(not because I did not get it) and unfulfillment. I literally felt bad for wanting to immediately turn to my sister, whose birthday it was, and ask her what she thought because I knew I'd than have to answer that same question to not only her but to everyone else that was going to ask me what I thought. The trailers and hype around it presented it as if it was going to be a hilarious and powerful satire indie film that would go down in cinema history. Yes it had an incredibly outstanding lineup cast, inspiring director and writers, but it was just not all it was hyped up to be. I'm definitely in the target audience, so there's no judgment that should be passed on that thought, I just wasn't that captured by it. This is all MY PERSONAL OPINION, but I did not find it funny, I literally caught myself forcing laughter at some of the scenes that were supposed to be funny because I felt bad the jokes were just not landing, and I really did want to like it. It felt alittle all over the place at times, and rushed in multiple scenes that felt there should have been more there. Yes, there was alot of great speeches that were moving, but sometimes it felt like there were so many it took away from others and you got lost in all the underlying meanings. It felt like someone was saying "look over here, now over here, no back over here!" The cast was good, visually appealing, and unique, but the movie as a whole just felt lacking. There was substance, but it got lost in all the messages and lessons it wanted us to take from it. Not something I would just put on to watch multiple times. It's a "once is enough for me" type of film. I got the message loud and clear, I just felt no connection was able to be made the way the story was told. Maybe if we got to explore the characters more and build that connection to feel one with the film.
The Wilds (2020)
They dropped a huge ball by canceling it after the phenomenal 2nd season!
I was outraged to find out today that there will not be a season 3 to continue this unique show that has so such quality and depth. I went to Google to try to find out why I have not seen any news of The Wilds return to Prime Video, since it is the season for it, and since the last season was so good and ended on such a high note, not to mention the cliffhangers! What I found out devastated me and took me by complete surprise! They canceled the show with little to no warning whatsoever! The second season in my opinion, was even better than the first and made it even more addictive and interesting, making me want to be more invested and seeing the unlimited opportunities for the show to run with. Prime claimed they canceled it after the second season because the second apparently received little to no notoriety/attention, but in my opinion that was their fault. They promoted the first season, but when the second season came out, I had to go searching for it just to find out that the second season had even been released and existed. There was no publicity or advertising for it nor was there any light shed on how great the show was. It was as if Prime Video put more effort in other projects and installments, and just threw this gem away. They really had an incredible opportunity with season 2 to set in motion a must watch 3rd season, with its building up of all the different characters and their stories, to the growth of the characters that have been there since day one. It had a phenomenal and individual story, cast, and ending to give us an incredible next season. There would have been no limit for the places and stories the 3rd season could have given us. But, like so many terrible decision made by these streaming and television companies trying to just push out as much garbage as possible, another show with incredible potential will be lost to suffer a dead end of a series.
This Is Where I Leave You (2014)
Great movie and so many layers to love
I've watched this movie more times than I can count, and will probably watch it many more over the years. I first saw the trailer for this movie and thought it looked okay. I did not find out till after viewing the movie that is was a book first. I one day decided to rent it and had to own it after first viewing. I don't know what to praise most; this amazingly hilarious ensemble cast that you wouldn't think blend, but that's how they do, or the witty dialogue that just keeps giving, or the story told so beautifully staggered that every scene and character stand out. It has me from beginning to end! I highly recommend this.
From (2022)
Definitely hooked in to see where it goes!
I'm on the newest season and it has only one episode left. I'm going to ride this one out, I want to know how far down the rabbit whole goes. I hope we have some season finale answers before we have to wait another year for a new season. Because the show definitely keeps you intrigued, wanting more, and curious to figure out what is going on. We are given basically the same information the people living in the town are given. So the show is setting it up for us and them to ask as many questions as possible to discover this mysterious place. I think that's the point, we/they are all trying to figure out what's going on with the clues we discover in each episode. I don't love that every episode is a cliffhanger, but I get it to keep us coming back.
Mine Games (2012)
Actually very good
This is actually a great horror, mystery, and suspense filled brainteaser of a movie. The first time I watched this, it completely shocked me how Intricate it all become. This film goes down the rabbit hole in the best way and it is shocking where it leads. It seems like it might be a dud by the low budget and lack of acknowledgment this movie has ever received. I highly recommend it for its uniqueness and way of telling the story. There is only a couple known actors/actresses but the story telling makes up for any mediocrity in the acting.
These friends take a trip into a cabin in the woods where things start to become very Irie and make no sense, at first. As the film goes on, it so cleverly delivers what is actually going on. It makes so much since in the way they deliver the information to us, whether it is something you are discovering as the audience or if it is something the audience knows but the people in the movie may not. I highly recommend giving this movie a shot.
The Umbrella Academy: Oblivion (2022)
Unfortunately not the series finale it deserved
I love this show with it's uniqueness, incredible cast, and fun soundtrack. Unfortunately this season, the final season, was in my opinion the least enjoyable season, especially the last episode. It felt very unfullfilling, sporadic, and confusing with the ambiguous information we were given to go on this messy ride. It left me with so many more questions that I thought would have this great full circle explanation towards the ending. Unfortunately that is not the case for this season. I wanted this show to go out with a bang, not drop the ball.
Snowpiercer (2020)
Very noir meets sci-fi
I first heard about this story on Netflix when I watched the movie adaptation years ago and really thought it was a breath of fresh air. When I saw they were coming out with a TV show, let's just say I was intrigued! Curious to see if it could actually go from a book, to a movie, and than years later get turned into a tv show on TNT. BUT, I'm here to say... it is not bad in my opinion. I really enjoy it and I love the fresh cast for the most part. There is rarely a dull episode, and it keeps me wanting to watch more episodes. I have to say I do feel the TV show is lacking but, I cannot put a finger on where it lacks. I just haven't quite figured that out yet but, it is missing a spark to make it really stand out in the crowd. I have loved that this show has introduced me to new or up and coming actors, actresses, and just plan out unique talent that I think will be seen on an even bigger screen one day.
All Cheerleaders Die (2013)
This is going to be a cult classic
This is definitely a B+ horror movie with flaws, but it has so many unexpected scenes that it intrigues the audience to find what happenens, especially the audience watching the film want to know more about the , and creatingthe "Ready to leave..." sequence. And where was this savior in the failing billionaire
On Becoming a God in Central Florida (2019)
Why only 1 season
Definitely worth the watch, immediately was drawn to this show after ther first episode. It is different and unexpected, plus Kirsten Dunst is great an unexpected. Even if the show ends after 1 season, I'll definitely be purchasing that 1 season for my collection. I really hope a 2nd season is in the works and they just haven't announced it yet!
Grey's Anatomy: Song Beneath the Song (2011)
Literally my favorite episode
Not everyone's cup of tea. I absolutely love music, Greys Anatomy, and the arts! I feel this episode brings those things together beautifully. I have a huge respect for what they tried to do with this episode. Hands down my favorite episode to watch over again!
Grey's Anatomy (2005)
This show has fallen over the years
I know this sounds crazy, but the past few seasons have looked cheap and feel impersonal. It feels more like a daytime soap then an award winning drama. If this show can't make us feel anymore like it did in seasons 8 and before, then it might be time to come to a close in the next season. Don't drag out a show that can't regain its spark.
Vampire's Kiss (1988)
Can't look away!
This is the most eccentric, wild, and cringeworthy film I've ever seen, yet could not bring myself away from watching it!
Westworld (2016)
Has potential, but gets lost in twists
The first season sets you up to want to learn the answers to the many questions you have about this intriguing world. You discover a little more about the world and its creators in each episode. It all builds to an unraveling at the end. Then, season 2 begins. It sometimes relies too much on twists. I genuinely got tired of combat scenes and continuous gunfights that I started to fast forward to dialogue. In season 2 you literally cannot go 10 minutes without there being some 5 minute long shoot out or battle. It feels like one very long war movie broken down into episodes. I longed to actually hear and see scenes with dialogue. It was so bad I actually would pick up my phone and play on it till I started hearing them actually having a conversation again. It tries to get you in by wanting you to follow this feeling that something you don't know is about to be revealed, but you lose that yurning with all the things happening in between while getting there.
Riverdale (2017)
Spiraling
This show started off really great. It was like nothing on the air, but after season 2 it has become wonky. The show does not make any sense now days. There is constantly 3 or 4 plots going o at once so it makes it hard to follow. Even the cast has said in interviews that it makes no sense and the writers just make it up as it goes. I'm still watching to see if they'll listen to the fans and salvage what it once was.
Elizabeth Harvest (2018)
Good plot, bad ending
This movie starts off as a chirpy and diabolical scientific clone story, but turns very dark with lots of twists and turns. The movie was very well paced and played out up until the Last 15 or 20 minutes when there is way more questions than answers. Especially, if you are truly paying attention to details towards the end, things do not quite add up and some things that happened are never truly addressed. For example, a severe wound that you have no idea how it got there on one of the characters, or a character's choice that doesn't quite add up without they story expecting you to fill in the blanks on your own.
The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1994)
Cult horror
This movie is definitely not winning any awards., but it is definitely a guilty pleasure for alot of people who like B quality horror movies and ridiculous cult movies. You know the ones, "So bad that it's good."
The Witcher (2019)
Confused
This show is okay, and just that. It has potential, but feels very rushed and has way too many plot holes. It throws random facts at you and expects you to fill in the holes without any type of build-up of story behind it. I feel myself constantly trying to figure out what's going on or how one thing got to another. Storylines feel all over the place like this rant of how unorganized this show is.
