Wow, about this movie!
29 September 2011
If you liked "Independence Day" and disaster movies, you will love this movie. This had me sitting on the edge of my seat for half of the movie, and I think I found my 82 year old mother huddling under the chair. It's full of action, disasters, and I don't think appropriate for young audiences, because a lot would have to be explained to them. But if this is what the earth will become when the end of the world comes, I don't want to be here. Watch it, it's a good movie!! One of the best disaster movies I've seen in a long time. Maybe the Aztec's had something to their dates when they said 12/21/12...wow, does that mean we don't have to prepare for Christmas next year?!?! LOL

Very good movie, one to be seen

Warning: Spoilers
The French Naudet brothers did something nobody else did, they had a video camera the day that this tragedy happened. They were in Building #2, when you could see papers drifting down, people hitting the ground from jumping from such a height.

I mean it goes as far as when both buildings collapsed they went running, their camera was still running, when the white dust covered them, they found a shop doorway and got inside, but all this footage is real and I think they did a fantastic job of capturing it for us.

Ten stars goes to the Naudet brothers that filmed this extraordinary film that I watch every 9/11 so I'll never forget what this country went through. I believe if I remember right, it shows the first death of the priest of the firefighters, while he was being carried to the church and his honorable funeral.

Buy the DVD and you're already have this one!
24 July 2006
If you buy the DVD, or even rent it, turn the DVD over when you're finished with the movie and it's got all kinds of special effects, so why buy a tape of "The Making of......" when you have it on the movie. There's an actual place where you can turn on the movie with Jeff Daniels and the producer talking all the way through the movie, actually the second side is the best of all of them.

You can hear (I'm not sure of the actresses name that played the daughter) her comment about the movie, and about the grocery scene, and how they used 2 dogs that looked alike, and even what kind of dog it was.

So just stick with "Because of Winn Dixie" and you'll get all of this rolled into one!

Sybil (1976)
10/10
Very good movie!!!!!!! I would watch again and again
21 July 2006
I think this was Sally Field's best acting movie out there. Sybil is quite a story, Joanne Woodward as the psychiatrist and Brad Davis, the man that dated and cared about Sybil are really a good human story. I've met one person with multiple personalities, but this movie gives a good idea as to what the person goes through, and until I saw the picture of the "real" Sybil, didn't realize this was a true to life story.

What that "monster" did to a child is beyond what anybody should do to somebody else, ESPECIALLY a child. After the doctor found out that she was actually cut "down there" with a knives and the scenes with the enema was horrible! These days she would be blamed and convicted with child abuse and never see her child again, Sybil actually grew up and actually became an adult despite what her mother did to her.

Just the whole plot of where the psychiatrist gets the personalities to come out and of course, Sally Field playing that many personalities, she was wonderful. Richard Loomis her boyfriend, didn't know what was going on, but I'm glad he was there to help her. But once the psychiatrist does some investigating to see if this is all real (the crayon markings in the box), the story gets very deep as she goes through these experiences with Sybil and eventually gets all her personalities and her to make peace with one another, so that they can live as one. These days somebody like that would be institutionalized or sheltered, but I'm glad to see the real Sybil that she actually did go to college and have most part of a normal life.

I give it 10 out of 10 stars, just the story of a woman that was abused so bad that I guess her body protected her and made multiple personalities. I recommend this movie to EVERYONE and realize what it is to live with mental illness. Mental illness is still treated in today's society as "crazy", "looney", etc. I have depression and it's amazing people that don't know about the disease, just think it's something you can turn on and off as you please.

The Big White (2005)

Dumb movie!!!
25 June 2006
Figured with Robin Williams and Woody Harrelson, that you'd get some good laughs, but the summary read "black comedy", they're right there. There was no comedy at all, I think the "Three Stooges" could've done better with a dead body and trying to make money. Not worth watching! Whatever with this alarm clock, I didn't see that one. The music is okay, wouldn't purchase it in a store, but I know Robin Williams has made better films than this one, this must be like a "Class B" movie, try RV, he did excellent in that one. But Dumb and Dumber had a lot of class on this movie, this one had no plot, no ending, and was quite the waste of time, only watched half, had to turn it off!!!!!!!!!!!
