Dexter (2006)
Such a good show!
Rewatching for the 2nd time and love this show! Michael makes the show. Incredible actor who made the character so real, surrounded by great supporting characters/actors and villains. Imaginative storylines! Great idea for a main character and creative serial-killer that you actually like.
Deb is the exception. She should have died early on - such a foul-mouthed, stupid (no way she would have excelled in a real police dept) skank. Hard to watch scenes with her between the annoying character and awful acting. How did she get and keep her job on this show? Oh yeah, she married the main star. Too bad it hurt the show. The show would definitely be a 10+ without her.
Locke & Key (2020)
Would be so much better if Bode wasn't such a brat
I always look forward to this show. I like the keys, house and even some of the characters, but then we get about halfway in a season and Bode does something stupid that causes problems for everyone and I remember why I get so frustrated with the show. The kid is too immature to have access to these keys. Why does no one have the superhero talk of with great power comes great responsibility with him AND take away his access to keys when he creates yet another life threatening problem. WHY!!!
Nancy Drew (2019)
An updated, more mature Nancy Drew
Thoroughly enjoy this series. Love the supernatural aspect. Interesting take on the characters.
Don't understand the bad reviews. Much better than most of the CW teen shows.
The Vampire Diaries (2009)
I would have rated 9 before Season 4
Warning: Spoilers.
I really loved the first few seasons. It was such a great show in the beginning. I still watch those episodes over again.
However, things went downhill when Elena became a vampire in season 4. I know so many folks liked Delena b/c of the IRL relationship of Nina & Ian, but storywise I thought it was inconsistent and eventually ruined the show. Elena just became more annoying, stupid, impulsive, bitchy and unlikeable when she chose Damon over Stefan. She became cringeworthy to watch and no longer a heroine of the show. They should have demoted her character as a lead.
I have to remind myself that this show is written for teenager's who probably think the romance w/Damon is romantic rather than recognizing it is an unhealthy relationship w/a selfish, impulsive, controlling psychopath who consistently got people hurt or killed by his reckless decisions (essentially a mini-Klaus). Damon & Elena would have never made a human marriage work growing old together with his controlling personality. Rose was right- Damon made Elena worse.
Stelena was the epic love story b/c Stefan was moral, kind and respected Elena's right to make her own choices. He made Elena better. He is overwhelmingly the better choice and better man.
Damon is a great character with a redemptive story. Yes, he grew in maturity, but the show was never the same after he and Elena got together.
Caroline & Stefan are also a lousy couple. They are great friends, but have absolutely no chemistry. And if someone was going to die it should have been Damon, not Stefan.
Way to mess up a series that could have been so much better.
Lucifer (2016)
Great until Season 6
I have loved this show up and watched episodes multiple times until this latest season. I would have given them a 10 rating before Season 6.
In Season 6, it felt like the writers forgot what created so many fans and instead focused on trying to include every single social issue they support in the last season. I do not fault them for wanting to include a social issue important to them that naturally fits, but it felt like they were checking off a list to make sure they included transgender, feminist, BLM, police issues, as well as biracial and LGBTQ relationships.
Gone was the cheeky humor, the fun group dynamics and hijinks of the main characters, the playful banter with Chloe and Lucifer, crime solving, Lucifer singing and playing the piano, fun dance numbers, romance with Deckerstar, the supernatural aspects and other angel family members. There were bits here and there, but largely it was overshadowed by the social issues and 3 long drawn out episodes to say goodbyes. It wasn't funny. The characters were stiff with each other. It was boring. I kept watching just to see if it got better. If this season had been the 1st, I never
would have watched the show. So sad that this was how this show ended.
The Shannara Chronicles (2016)
Wish the main casting was better
Most of the cast is very good and the story ver entertaining. However, Austin Butler's poor acting makes some scenes hard to watch. A better actor could have made this story so much better.
A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote (2020)
Well-acted reunion, great episode, glaringly promoting the Democratic agenda
Loved seeing the cast. Beautifully acted episode, but if you are going to say it is just about voting and bipartisan 1) a Republican president should have been included, 2) talking about issues should include issues on both sides and 3) Samuel L Jackson's section should have been rewritten. As Bradley said at the beginning, we find it offensive when actors preach to the rest of us. I would have enjoyed it so much more if they kept their personal politics out of it.
The Expanse (2015)
Season 4 - why the crappy language?
Have loved this show and binge-watched for days. Why did the writers in season 4 start dropping the f-bomb every other line? You are ruining a good show w/unnecessary bad language. What I liked about the show is that it was an entertaining, fun space action-adventure with only the occasional bad word or sexual situation. Dear writers - you aren't good writers if you have to crap up a show w/that garbage to write an episode. You are going to be the demise of this show if you can't write good storylines w/o vulgarity.
The Sinner (2017)
After 1st season will never watch it or JB again
Disturbing and disgusting. Disappointed in Jessica Biel not only being in, but producing such filthy garbage.
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
Really disappointing!
Really disappointing! Didn't fit with the previous Star Wars movies. Was definitely missing J.J Abrams on this one. It was like they didn't know the characters in this story. I say this as a woman - it might not have been so bad if they didn't work so hard to push a feminist agenda trying to make all of the women look so much smarter and making all of the men look foolish and hotheaded. Anytime you have to make yourself look good by putting others down, everyone loses. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses with flaws.
