The World to Come (2020)
I liked it
I really like the casting and set design, the costumes were pretty as well though not completely accurate. The story was a bit slow at time, and could've used better pacing but the actors had good chemistry and the ending really bummed me out. While this movie wasn't perfect it is important to depict the lack of control women in history had over their lives.
Handsome Devil (2016)
"There will come a point in the future, when you won't have to lie anymore."
This was a really comforting movie for me when I was younger, I think I watched this for the first time when I was 14 in like 2017. For a queer kid in a not so ideal situation it really showed me how its social pressure that keeps people bigoted and it gave me hope for when I got older.
I think the movie also does a good job at highlighting how Ned's anger and self-destructiveness hurts himself and people he cares about more than the people he's angry at.
I'd recommend this movie to anyone 13+, while I connected with it because of the queer aspect, the theme of "Be yourself" can apply everyone, we've all got something we hide away to conform, especially as teenagers.
Anne (2017)
