The Night Of (2016)
meh ending, good show
The show is done very well but the ending is just not very good.
Sharp Objects (2018)
not for everyone
The show is unbelievably slow and full of clues and details,
but the end is worth it.
WATCH THE CREDITS !!! (in the finale)
Malcolm & Marie (2021)
a cinematic experience
It's a real story. Black and white, except everything is in the grey.
Death to 2020 (2020)
actually made me laugh
Probably the first comedy to make me laugh to be honest.
It spoke about real stuff with such great irony, that just made a sigh of relief for me.
Some things were left out (intentionally or not), but it was the perfect amount of time for a movie like this.
I strongly recommend.
The Queen's Gambit (2020)
a story about a girl in a world of chess
Simply an amazing story told in a perfect way.
A talented and NOT perfect girl, going through a life of chess.
You don't have to like chess to like this show.
I know nothing about it and i watched this in a day.
Top 3 shows I've ever seen.
Little Miss Sunshine (2006)
carries an important message, but it really didn't keep my attention
I think it's an important movie to watch, it's just not a movie to watch with friends or to keep your mind off of something.
As someone with a bad attention span, i recommend watching it in parts..
It's just not for everyone.
Sightless (2020)
very weird and good
This film is one of the best thrillers I've seen.
The way we are shown what being blind looks like.
The way we can't see if a space changed until it's proven otherwise.
What we can do with our imagination.
What trauma does to people.
How much our product can do for someone.
And, how a messed up brain, sees being good and doing the right thing, by giving back a favor.
Clouds (2020)
Beautifully sad
One of the saddest movies I've watched.
Seeing how cancer affected everyone in his family and school,
makes you realize it's a batlle for everyone included.
Told in a beautiful way, switching from heart breaking to funny and sarcastic, his humor making this easier on everyone.
Makes you think...
La vita è bella (1997)
there's always a positive side
This story just goes to show that it's always possible to find a positive side.
Such a terrible thing, shown by two completely different perspectives..
Amazing.
Chemical Hearts (2020)
real love story
Being a teen means a lot of things, like going to highschool, fighting with your parents, falling in love. Or being the only one in love. Being the broken one. The one "who needs fixing".
Grace is a person. Feeling her feelings. Figuring things out. Meeting Henry did her good. All she needed was being ready. Yet she wasn't. And that's okay! Henry has the right to be sad about things not working out, but it was a situation of the right people and the wrong time.
We can't fix people the way we fix broken vases. They can't fix us like they do broken vases.
People are broken, but they're not ours to fix.
The Edge of Seventeen (2016)
very very relatable
I recommend watching if you're a teenager, maybe not so much for older people.
Made in Italy (2020)
beautiful scenery
The only thing that kept me watching is the fact that it's in Tuscany, Italy. The movie is cute and all, overall a bit boring. I didn't like the acting of most of the cast. It was very forced and unnatural.
Midnight in Paris (2011)
Good message
The beginning is slow, although I find it important. An unhappy man, thinking he's happy, is awful for everyone involved, but especially for him.
Gil is an nostalgic man who's dream is living in the 1920s (the main plot of the movie).
As the story goes on, he meets Hemingway, Picasso and many others, including Adriana.
Near the end of the movie, Adriana and him fall in love, but she discovers how to go even further back in time. I really liked how their disagreement was shown, not as a fight but as a goodbye.
People like us-We really are never happy in the time we're living in. And the movie opened my eyes to the things that are great in my time.
"We all fear death and question our place in the universe. The artist's job is no to succumb to despair, but to find an antidote for the emptiness of existence."
Pride & Prejudice (2005)
almost as good as the book
This movie is actually like reading the short version of the book in a way. Now, I've read the book, so I can't say if they actually represented the characters fully, as I know them very well from the book. They took all of the important bits, and showed the story of judging someone by how they show themselves in a large group of people/what people think of them. Darcy is very misunderstood by everyone, including Elizabeth. The story of how she got to know him, and changed her opinion of him is shown beautifully. Not to mention, the scenery is amazingly beautiful.
Adrift (2018)
do not watch if you have a fear of the sea
The movie itself has a good story, although i wish i had known it was based on a true story at the beginning of the movie. I liked the jumps from past to present. I found the overall movie very boring. It was the fact that i didn't know these people. I couldn't simpathize with them, I just knew they were a couple that loved each other. However, I had horrible anxiety watching this. I pushed through because my friend likes this movie, but it was a horrible experience. I have a horrible fear of this exact situation, and the sea/water in general.
Little Women (2019)
absolutely beautiful
I have never read the book myself, although I know it's a classic. The movie, I'm guessing, cut short a lot of the story and everyone's personality, yet it's amazing.
The scenery is stunning, the acting even better. These are some very famous and well known actors, and I never even thought about who was acting.
I usually don't like the jumps from time to time, but I really didn't mind it, because it works very well for the story telling.
Rest assured, I will now read the book.
To the Bone (2017)
Extreme reality
! triggering !
A story about a person, having anorexia. We follow her journey going into a treatment facility - a home for 7 people like her.
This movie didn't shy away from reality, it shows the sickness exactly how it is. It doesn't glorify it. The journey is shown to be tough, we don't get an answer as to why Eli is doing what she's doing. Eli's family tells us what it is to watch someone slowly get closer to death, by choice. At the end, the birth mother accepts her death if that really is what she wants. And we get an epiphany, she opens her eyes to see what she has become, who she's pushed away. We get an optimistic ending, and a chance to make the ending into whatever we want it to be.
Irreplaceable You (2018)
Real and Raw
The movie tells a story about a young woman finding out she has cancer, and how she has decided to deal with death. A simple love story, with constant stability for years, has to come to an early end. Trying to make death and loss hurt less by distancing herself from the love of her life, setting him up for a life without her. It shows the different ways people deal with grief. The ending is really beautiful, showing her simple and peaceful death, with her last view - a hawk.
The Half of It (2020)
Real and different
This movie is truly something new and different, showcasing a different point of view. A not so cool girl is a stereotype that we took way too seriously, and I think this movie changes that. The main character being different but not 'quirky' is clearly something they thought a lot about. Having a crush on this girl doesn't change her, she doesn't get a huge makeover. She doesn't need to. And thats SO important to show. Her not pushing anything on the girl, and vise versa is something we should see as normal by now. The ending not being a typical 'happy ever after' is the reason i love this movie so much, the girls are just not ready for each other right now, and that's okay!
Before I Fall (2017)
Moral
This is one of those movies that make you think, and make you self-aware instantly. The whole movie in it self is a moral question, asking who we really are and what we're willing to do to be a good person. I like that the key to solving the 'curse' isn't kissing the right boy (as it happens way to often), it's about doing the right thing, actually trying to help someone. At the end of the movie, the main character sacrifices herself to save another girl from killing herself, and not for being brave, but to genuinely save her. She does have a 'selfish' reason behind that action, to some degree, she's also trying to save herself by doing right by others. But then again, how many truly selfless good deeds are there anyway?
