Bandidas (2006)
OK movie - Crap sound editing
The movie itself is not that bad, some funny scenes. The directors and actors have done what they could with the script which is not that good. However the worst thing about this movie has to be the sound editing. The levels are completely wrong. All sound effects are way to low and sound kind of muffled. Also several scenes have the actors moving their lips, but no dialog is audible. Like the last scene when Penelope asks how the banks are in Europe, Salma responds "Bigger", you can clearly see Penelope yell "yihaa" or something to spur on the horse, but nothing is heard. There are several such examples. I think this is the first time I have really been annoyed at a movie because of bad sound. So be warned.
Ace.
Margaret Cho: Assassin (2005)
To slow and boring
I started watching this thinking I was going to see some funny stand-up. Probably my fault for not checking, but M Cho is just a bit too hung up in all her political and gay rights issues to really be funny in this show. Not that her willingness to tackle such issues is not admirable, but it just takes the fun out of the stand-up and belongs elsewhere. And could she deliver the lines any slower? I mean if you'd cut all the annoying pauses where she is just standing there waiting for applause that does not come you'd have like a 30 minutes shorter show. So if you are not into extremely politically oriented half serious stand-up you might want to give this one a miss.
