Bo Burnham: Inside (2021)
It's in my head
I knew nothing of Bo Burnham before watching this. But I now have a lot of respect for him. He's created a comedy special that isn't particularly funny (though it certainly has its moments), but is incredibly captivating nonetheless. It's hard to stop thinking about it once it's over, and it's hard to resist going back to revisit songs like the brilliant opener "Content" and the affecting emotional climax "All Eyes on Me".
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Moo Moo (2017)
Something Special
I'm watching Brooklyn Nine Nine with enough interest to keep going but not enough to feel like it's anything truly special. 'Moo Moo' is the first time that I've felt like the show has hit upon real genius. From the moment that Terry is unexpectedly stopped by the racist cop, the whole thing is so well done. It's an episode that aspires to be something more than regular sitcom fare, and achieves it easily.
Please Like Me (2013)
One of the best shows to ever come from Australia
Such a delight. It tackles all the heavy themes, but does so in a way that feels unique and is usually very funny. It's also worth watching just for Debra Lawrence. After years of Aussie audiences watching her in the (rather cheesy) Home and Away, it is awesome to see her tackle this role so perfectly.
Bluey (2018)
More than a great kids show. An amazing show in its own right.
Incredibly relatable (especially as a parent in Australia who has spent some time near Brisbane), funny, detailed, poignant, entertaining and consistent (there are no dud episodes). Plus the kids love it. I am seriously impressed.
Bloodsport III (1996)
Worst. Movie. Ever.
I'm not kidding. In my opinion this truly is the WORST FILM EVER MADE. The only thing that could possibly be worse is the fourth installment, which I was unaware of until now. The only reason you would watch this is to laugh at how bad it is, which I did for the first half hour or so. But the novelty of that wears off quickly, especially once you realise that it is for real ... they're not kidding ... this isn't a comedy. So on second thoughts don't even see it for that reason. If you want to watch something that's so bad it's enjoyable, go rent out Plan 9 From Outer Space. Hell this film is even worse than Scary Movie 2, and I really, REALLY hated that film. But don't go see it if you liked Scary Movie 2. It's nothing like it.
