A very good series, which portrays the work of the police in Northern Ireland in a very realistic way. There is no doubt that working as a police officer in the mean streets of Belfast is really challenging. When policing somewhere as complex as this Irish city, good intentions aren't enough, and there is already a lot of pressure.
The series mixes drama, humor and very good and tense action scenes. It also shows one of the darkest part of working at the police-the violence and insults of citizens towards the police officers.
The cast is outstanding, particularly Richard Dormer, who is wonderfully charismatic and charming, as Cliff.
Blue Lights will probably sound like a fairly standard cop show, but the viewing experience is something very different. It has a gritty intensity that feels fresh, like going back to the 1990's. Every episode has several tense moments that will shock and exhaust. It's as if we were on patrol with them, that's how I felt because of how realistic it is.
The cops of Blue Lights are largely quite flawed, but you really must give them credit for putting themselves in harm's way, over and over again.
There are scenes that will stick with you for a long time. It is quite a ride that pays off in a big way. Very highly recommended!
