Black Rain (1989)
I liked it...
I liked it because it entertained me. Sorry that I didn't try and pick out every subtle thing about this movie that I didn't like. Maybe I'm just too easy to please. Sometimes I wish I could be harder to please, so I could write a review that goes on endlessly about all the things that need fixing in a movie. You know, "I didn't like it because" blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...
The French Connection (1971)
Extraordinary!
For the people who don't seem to "Get It." Well, what can I say... This is one of the BEST! films of all time. Gene Hackmans performance alone is enough to warrant watching it. But, the fact that it is based on a true story makes it even more enjoyable. It may seem slow sometimes. But, it's trying to make a juxtaposition which depicts the reality of police work (which is usually boring and mundane) with the rare times of the truly exciting. Listen to the majority of the people who comment on this film. Go rent it and you decide for yourself.
P.S. I'm originally from New York, lived there for 37 years, before I moved to California. This might explain my viseral feel for this movie. Don't you just love controversy?

The Temptations (1998)
Absolutely! Fantastic!!
The highs and lows of the enormously talented and legendary Temptations. Perhaps the greatest R&B group of all time. Well acted (especially David Ruffins character)with lots of substance and feeling for each character. I think most people expected a movie musical with some irrelevant plot. Instead we were treated to a a WONDERFUL narrative with GREAT music. As one who was there during that era, it was an especially enjoyable movie. Just for the record David Ruffin was one of the greatest EVER talents of R&B. I would put him right up there with Marivn Gaye, Smokey Robinson and Teddy Pendergrass. Yes, I know I missed someones favorite, but Marivn, Smokey and David were the early influences on my musical taste, not to mention the Doo-Woop era.
Driving Miss Daisy (1989)
A Treasure!
This movie has to be one of the great treasures of movie making. Everytime I see it, I'm truly touched by it's simple and gentle message of human kindness and understanding. I know Jessica Tandy won the oscar for her portrayal, and she deserved it, but Morgan Freeman was magnificent and should have won an oscar also. If Mr. Freeman isn't one of the best actors on planet earth than I don't know who is... PLEASE! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND SEE THIS MOVIE...
Internal Affairs (1990)
Great Entertainment!
If you like movies because they entertain you, then this is a must see. If you like to pick movies apart and try to be a Pseudo Critic, this is not the movie for you... YES! it has some flaws, but overall it's a damn good movie. Arguably Richard Gere's best performance. 8/10
Lethal Weapon (1987)
Prodigious!!
One of the best, of the "buddy cop" genre movies. Gibson and Glover have great chemistry. Intelligent dialogue and action packed scene's make this a must see movie. Mel Gibson, is, in my humble opinion one of the most underrated actors in the business. Watch the scene where he contemplates suicide (superb acting.)

Out of Africa (1985)
Magnificent!!
One of the great movies of all time in my opinion. I thought Meryl Streep did a remarkable job with the character of Karen Blixen. The script was intelligent, the photography was phenomenal and the music was superb. One of Sidney Pollacks best films... A must see!!
The Godfather (1972)
I rate it 12!!! on a scale of 1 through 10
Everytime I watch this movie I feel the need to go into my back yard and build a shrine to Francis and Marlon... What the heck can I add to what everyone knows, or should know, about this MASTERPIECE!! I would tell you how many times i've watched it, but you wouldn't believe me...

Ulzana's Raid (1972)
Straight Up Movie.
This movie is about as honest as it gets when it comes to telling it like it is. A rare gem in the western genre. If you like it raw and to the point, with out pretension, this is a must see movie. Definitely not for the faint of heart.
Fanny (1961)
The Best!!
I saw this movies in 1961. I've never before or since been touched so deeply by a movie. Simply stated it's my ALL TIME favorite movie... The cast was superb especially Leslie Caron. I thought she should have won an Oscar. The music is still my favorite sound track. The cinematography was gorgeous beyond words. I could go on and on, but who couldn't when talking about their favorite movie of All TIME.
