A transmigration of sorts...
6 July 2003
A dog girl submitting herself to weary love. A film where affection crosses sideways in a curious love triangle: a boy who takes, a girl who gives and a dog who dies. Is she somewhat possessed in the end or just beyond words? You should care.

Last breath, last look.

Light, peaceful, wickedly erudite humour of a kind long since unheard of. A Portuguese film from a Portuguese film maker. A film about "everydayness" and availability to be aroused by others and by their words. An experience of declined immortality for the sake of life.

At which point life touches death?
23 January 2000
A film that evokes the prodigy of life through the eyes of a dead soul. My first impression upon seeing it was the simplicity that carries the story past understanding, and into a state of complicity with the viewer that dissolves fear. It made me come to terms with the dark, noisy loneliness and all dark things I've brought with me since childhood. And it's a very special Bruce Willis we see here, one who although being part of the nightmare resembles each and every possible cure. Peace of mind and peace of heart, this movie brought me, and for that I am thankful.
