Subliminal Seduction (1996 TV Movie)

Soft Core Porn - instead of good quality writing
21 January 2007
Don't want to be a spoiler but the movie goes like this at the beginning. This nice couple moves to a new town after the husband gets a job running game design and the company seems to be very involved in controlling the lives of it's employees. This companies games includes mind control software that most people would be against. Movie sounds pretty good so far but wait.

It seems that having sex is one of the primary roles of this software and the characters themselves including the main characters and after setting up the story everything starts falling apart and the storyline that could be good gets ground to a halt.

I don't know how Ian Ziering's agent could have ever approved of this career ending part. The star power at the time of Steve from 90210 is not enough to keep this movie going

The storyline is a good idea and could be done at least as good today and that was the one thing that had me up late watching this on TV but in the end a great idea poorly executed makes you more mad then a bad idea done well.

Dumb, dumb, dumb

Great acting

Every now and again you get to see a movie about a movie. The concept is somewhat pretensious but sometimes works very well, in this case I think it does work quite well. Although if you cut to the guts of this movie it is your classic formula romantic comedy I believe it has gone further. The interaction is great. Catherine Zeta Jones is great to watch, I had never taken her acting too seriously but she is wonderful in her attitude in this movie.

Great film with great subtext
10 December 2001
When i first saw reviews saying that this movie was ir-responsible to be made I was hooked. I waited for video and have seen it twice and am going to buy the DVD. This movie is great!

The movie may seem to just be a glorification of fighting, especially street fighting but underneath are very important 1990's type subtexts. There is materialism, fear, and ego behind everyone, so the film says. Most important in this film is the way that it portrays the classic modern american male of our time as lacking in a real hunger to strike out and fight for anything, more apt to look for an easy way to get dinner than hunt for it.

The movie uses flashbacks well and is at least as good on a second viewing as it is on the first.
