Chasing Amy (1997)
Best of three!
I actually saw the movies in a weird order. I saw Mall Rats, then Chasing Amy, then Clerks......I must confess that out of the three movies, Chasing Amy was by far the best one. Clerks was Boring. Mall Rats was about typical. Chasing Amy offers the movie goer a change of pace. We watch as a young man falls in love with a woman that has a secret. When he finds out, he freaks out and almost loses her and his best friend. But, as with all movies in our lives it ends with happiness and a few loose ends. Thus we end up with sequels...like Dogma.
Deep Blue Sea (1999)
Surpasses "Jaws" by a long way!!!
1. Ten times better than any Jaws movie!! 2. Actually scared me...and that says a lot!! 3. Better plot and more plausible!! 4. I would watch this movie over and over and still like it!!
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (1999)
Great Freaking Movie!!!
I absolutely loved this movie! Found it funny and extremely entertaining. I would not recommend this movie for anyone under 18 (and that's pushing it). Lots of vulgarity and some might actually find it offensive if they are of Canadian descent. But fear not, it's typical Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Everybody should like this movie from one stand point or another. If you have a favorite SP character, you will not be disappointed as all the kids and adults have pretty major roles. It is a must see for SP fans and anyone who likes animated movies with an adult theme. Way to go for Matt and Trey!
Strangeland (1998)
In a word: Strange....
I like a few other horror fans expected a little bit more from this movie. Not scary in a horror sense, maybe a little from the psychological point of view. (It could happen.....) Overall I found the movie to be interesting and unusual. (At least for someone who is a self-proclaimed Michael Myers fan!) If your into self mutilations or the torturing of others this movie is for you and a must see. If you just overcome with morbid curiosity, it is also a must see. If you're the average everyday horror fan, you will be disappointed.
Half Baked (1998)
Best Stoner Movie to Date!!!
If you're pro-cannibas this movie is a must see! It doesn't condone pot smoking, but it doesn't down it either. I actually think this movie is the first movie scince Cheech and Chong did their movies to actually show an unbiased view on the effects of smoking marijuana. Anyway, I really found the moving both entertaining and educational in an odd kind of way.
There's Something About Mary (1998)
All I can say is Frank and Beans!!!!
Really enjoyed this movie....was absolutely hilarious and entertaining. I always like movies where the underdog comes out on top and this movie didn't let me down. The class geek becomes the stud and gets the girl. What else can I say, except I highly recommend this movie to anyone who has ever felt like they were the underdog, yes men and women alike.
Children of the Corn 666: Isaac's Return (1999)
This is a must see for COC fans.
I found this sequel to be the best one yet...Hannah, a survivor of the Gatlin incident returns to Gatlin to find her roots after being adopted. She finds herself faced with Isaac who has re-claimed his hold over the children and town of Gatlin along with a neighboring town, then enter in Michael who overthrows Isaac, and plans to offer two sacrifices to "he who walks behind the rows". Amongst all this Hannah manages to find love in the form of a young man who comes to visit Gatlin with his reporter father and gets involved with the children. He's ordered to kill Hannah by Michael and his father and an indian friend (also a survivor) intervene and save the day. Really enjoyed this sequel and recommend it to all COC fans.
Braveheart (1995)
superbly acted and directed
If you are a Mel Gibson fan of any sorts this movie is a must see. A wonderful directing job, supported by a wonderful cast. Men will appreciate the attitude depicted by Mel Gibson towards his love and his country along with the added violence. Women will swoon and pine for the hopeless romantic they will find in Mel as he avenges the death of his wife and fights for the freedom of his fellow countrymen. This movie gave me a whole new respect for Mel as a director and actor. In my opinion it is the best movie Mel has made to date.
